Chapter #4: Confessions.
His dreams, what he liked, what he hated, his favorite food, quidditch tips and advices, how to deal with the emotions that started to appear as he aged, the weight of the world on his shoulders, somehow, Harry felt like those were all the things he wanted to talk about with his father when he finally met him in the life he remembered.
In that world in which his parents are dead, killed by Voldemort, someone who apparently doesn’t exist in this world, he always dreamed about what to say if he somehow got to meet them once again, back then, he could only share words with them when he was about to sacrifice himself to kill the horcrux that was inside him, the conversation was so brief and he didn't have enough to tell them everything he wanted to.
Never in that life did he feel happier than the moment when he finally shared a few words with them; however, life sometimes is ironic. Now that he’s with them, having lunch, he has no idea what to talk about or even if he wants to talk to them because he’s not even sure if this is real.
Is this a fantasy? Is this reality? He has no idea; he knows he needs to act logically in case he’s trapped in an illusion. He also has the theory that this is just his version of heaven, but considering Dumbledore and the rest of the versions of his loved ones that he used to know were apparently waiting for him in heaven, that theory doesn't make sense.
“Harry…Are you okay?” The emerald-eyed wizard heard his father say.
“… Yeah… Why?” Harry could only manage to speak with a weak tone.
“Because some tears are escaping from your eyes…” This time, a red-haired woman spoke.
She had a gentle but concerned expression. It's been so long since the last time she saw her son cry. Well, he used to be more open when he was younger, but that was a long time ago.
“Am I really doing that?” He asked, concerned.
Soon he touched his face, and he found out that it was real; he was crying.
“Oh…I’m sorry!” Harry apologized as he cleaned his face.
One thing that he shared with this world’s version of himself is the fact that crying was off the question; it doesn’t matter what he went through, he rarely let anyone see him crying, and that's because he didn’t want people to pity him.
“I’m more shocked that you’re apologizing, to be honest,” his father said before chuckling.
Harry smirked too.
“<Sorry> is a very powerful world,” Harry couldn’t help but joke.
“That’s true, but… What has made you act like this?” Lily was concerned.
Harry was debating himself; in one hand, he wanted to avoid telling them about how he was feeling, but he needed to find someone who would believe what he was currently going through. If this was Voldemort's work, then he needed to get out of this illusion so he could finally kill him.
“Mother…Father, I’m sorry, but I think this is not real,” Harry declared with a serious expression.
“Harry…What do you mean? Of course, this is real!” James said with a perplexed expression.
Then he pinched one of Harry’s arms, which caused the emerald-eyed wizard to look at his father with an annoyed expression.
“Why did you do that?” Harry couldn’t believe it.
“Because you’re not making any sense… If this is not real, why did you feel pain?” James questioned him with a curious expression.
His mother was watching the exchange with interest but also with a concerned expression.
“That’s…An interesting question,” Harry couldn’t help but mutter.
“I think I know what’s going on, Harry… You just got married to two amazing and beautiful witches, and now you’re probably feeling like your life is going to be like this forever... I can see what's happening, this is like a mid-twenties crisis even though you’re not in your mid-twenties,” Lily tried to find a logical explanation.
“No, mother…You see, I have memories of a life I already lived, a life in which none of you are alive. There was this dark wizard named Voldemort, and everyone feared him, and for a good reason, he killed everyone I loved, and the destiny of the world rested on my shoulders… I know this sounds crazy, but I can assure you it’s real. The scar in my forehead proves that I'm not lying... After all, it was the result of the killing curse being reflected back to Voldemort when I was a baby,” Harry tried to explain and make them understand.
“Your imagination is really interesting, Harry… But there’s no way to reflect a killing curse, and we have no idea of who this Voldemort bloke you’re talking about is,” James said with a smirk.
“There’s actually a way to achieve that, it requires a person to give up their life to save another, it’s like a blood ritual, but above all…You need to genuinely love and want that person to be safe,” Harry said with a serious tone.
“Blood magic? Love? I’m sorry, dear, but that’s such a contradiction. Blood magic is a very dark subject. When you deal with dark magic, love is the last thing you should be using!” Lily said, worried. “Also… About the scar in your forehead... You were born with it,” Lily added with a concerned expression.
Harry didn’t know what to do or say to convince them; however, an idea suddenly popped into his head.
“Sectumsempra,” that word made James and Lily worry. “I solemnly swear I am up to no good...” He added, and soon there were gasps.
“What the…How did you know about those things?!” Lily asked, concerned.
“Did Sirius or Remus tell you about those things?” James was starting to get angry with his friends.
“No… Those secrets... I managed to get them by myself in that life I told you, guys, about… I don’t know what happened, but it seems like I’ve been living a double life… How? I have no idea,” Harry said with a worried expression.
He didn’t want his parents to think he was going insane. He knew they were going to get worried, but at least he was able to find that this was no illusion, as they didn’t get aggressive, and the illusion didn’t wear off once he told them about his true life.
“This is… I don’t even know what to say,” James was more confused than he was when Harry started to cry.
However, then something happened, his parents suddenly pointed their wands at him.
“Who are you and what have you done to our son?!” Demanded Lily, and it was the first time in ages Harry had felt this scared.
This didn’t go the way he thought it was going to be. He could only gulp, and he was ready to face his death when he suddenly woke up he opened his eyes, and now he was in a dark room once again, but this was much different from the one he was used to. This room looked too bright; however, soon, the memories came over once again.
This room used to belong to him; he was raised in this room, which only meant one thing: he was in his parents' room. Soon, there were many memories once again; apparently, after meeting his father, he visited them and shared drinks until it was late.
“So, the confession wasn’t real… I think I should avoid telling my parents who I am... Only death awaits me if I did that,” Harry couldn’t help but sigh.
And speaking about them, they suddenly knock on his former room door.
