Chapter #9: Jealousy?

Bellatrix wasn’t happy. Harry Potter, her husband, was on a date with his ex, Amelia Bones. Or well, at least she thought they were on a date because they were having lunch, of course, Bellatrix was acting as if she didn’t care, but for some reason, she couldn’t stop thinking about what they were probably doing.

It’s not like she was jealous; he could be with anyone he wanted, after all. This marriage was a sham; it was just a façade to satisfy both families, and the two of them were free to be with whoever they wanted. Maybe Bellatrix should start having an affair, too.

She couldn’t help but smile and gaze at her workers, then she saw Ron Weasley, and her smile faded; then it was replaced by a disappointed look; she couldn’t help but sigh in annoyance.

“Is that really the best wizarding world has to offer when it comes to males?” She complained.

Then she realized that she managed to marry one of the few attractive and strong wizards out there. Of course, it was all because of the arranged marriage, but now that she thought about it, it could’ve been worse; she could’ve gotten married to Crabbe’s son or Goyle’s son.

She saw them regularly when she visited Draco. She was surprised they were able to cast magic, considering who their parents were. She couldn’t help but shake her thoughts off; she decided to focus on the paperwork she was working on, and then her thoughts were interrupted once again as Harry came back from his lunch.

“I had a great time, Mr. Potter. Maybe we should do it again?” Amelia asked with a warm smile.

“I would love to, boss, it’s always fun to speak with someone as smart as you are,” Harry couldn’t help but smile at the older witch.

“Very well, you’ll hear from me very soon, don’t think you won’t,” she winked at him. “Let’s get back to work… Keep going, you’re doing great,” she told him before leaving.

Bellatrix watched the scene, and she couldn’t help but get annoyed. She knew that the way she was acting didn’t make sense; she was like a child whose toy was being used by someone else, and even though she didn’t want that toy to begin with, she was annoyed that it was being used by someone else. Feelings were a very complicated thing. Bellatrix wanted to keep indulging in her thoughts when suddenly there was a call, a civilian had reported something.

“Team, we have work, come on, let’s get going,” Bellatrix told her team, and soon, all of them apparated to the place from where the call came from.

It was the countryside, they were expecting this to be a simple case of magic in the presence of muggles; it didn’t require the whole team, but all of them needed to watch and learn what to do in a situation like that. However, the witness wasn’t a Muggle; it was an old witch, Bellatrix could tell that by the Quidditch team shirt she was wearing.

“Good evening,” Bellatrix said with a calm tone.

“I’m glad you came… A dead person is floating!” The old witch said desperately.

She soon led them to a place that looked beautiful and relaxing. There was a lake and many beautiful flowers around it; however, in the middle of the lake, a man was floating, but it was clear that the man wasn't alive, as blood was leaking from the body due to the effect of gravity and the lack of movement.

Many of the recruits tried not to vomit at the sight, but Harry Potter remained unfazed. It was interesting and disturbing at the same time for the older witch to see him acting so calm.

“I think we should put him down,” Ron Weasley said as he raised his wand.

However, Harry quickly stopped him.

“Wait, Ron… It could be dangerous, it could be jinxed to avoid being put down, it’s clear that the person who did this wanted the body to be seen,” Harry surprised everyone.

Bellatrix was also surprised by how he reached this conclusion.

“Why do you think that’s the case, Potter?” Asked Bellatrix with a curious expression.

Harry remained silent for a few moments, trying to collect his thoughts.

“Well, the person is floating in the middle of the lake, and the blood is leaking; nothing of that is a coincidence, or at least I think it's not,” he explained, but still, his logic didn’t make sense. “The magical creatures around the area come to this place to drink water, right, Mrs…?” Harry asked the old witch who reported the body.

“Andrews… Ariana Andrews,” said the woman with a soft smile. “And yes, you’re right, this is the place used for magical creatures around the area to drink water,” the old witch said with a calm tone.

“Right, and considering there’s blood, it also serves to catch the attention of the carnivorous magical creatures, thinking that they’re going to find prey only to see it floating and risking being killed if they tried to put it down,” Harry took a look at the body. “And from what I’ve seen, the victim is a werewolf,” Harry spoke as if he knew the answers to everything.

But before Bellatrix could ask more questions, she noted that, in fact, the man was a bit transformed; his nails weren’t those of a human but a werewolf.

“Nice catch, Potter,” Bellatrix couldn’t help but admit.

“So… How do we get him down there?” Asked Ron with a confused expression.

“Ronald, your brother is a curse breaker, and you don’t know how to deal with jinxed bodies?” Bellatrix couldn’t believe it.

Ron felt small right now; he stared at the ground in shame.

“Very well, I need all of you to cast the most powerful shield you know, and I’ll try to get the body down,” Bellatrix declared, and soon everyone got their wands ready. “NOW!” She ordered.

Soon, shields were cast by the whole team. Once she saw everyone doing their part, it was time for her to do her own. She used finite incantatem to end the spell; however, the moment she did this, the body started to convulse, but Bellatrix wasn’t giving up easily.

Just as Potter said, the body was jinxed to react and attack anyone who dared to try to get it off; however, Bellatrix isn’t someone who runs away easily. She knew that eventually, the magic wasn’t going to be enough to protect the body.

“Expecto Patronus!” Harry said, and soon, his stag started to surround the body until it engulfed it and made the dark magic disappear.

Bellatrix and the rest were looking at him in a new light. This was no ordinary Auror; there was something more behind the emerald-eyed wizard. Soon, everyone was looking at him with curious expressions; however, Bellatrix took the opportunity to finally drag the body down.

“Good job, everyone,” she said as she took a look at it before she placed the body in a magic bubble to keep it safe.

Now that they had gotten rid of the main problem, it was time to collect evidence. Bellatrix didn’t know how to feel about it. Everything she thought about Potter was wrong; he wasn’t some kind of useless nepobaby, no, there was more behind him, he was strong and fierce.

It seems like he had problems following the rules. Knowing that he had all those traits made her feel annoyed because she was just like that when she joined the Auror forces.
