Chapter #37: Pretend we’re dead.

Hermione was feeling excited and worried at the same time. Not only was she alone with another man in the room, but it was Harry, her crush; to be honest, she had been crushing on him for some time, even before he became popular. There’s something dangerous about him that, for some reason, catches her attention.

She hates herself for becoming the cliché of the goody two-shoes woman who falls for the guy with seemingly no future, and then, after the summer, not only did he change his attitude, but he became more physically attractive. She was trying to keep her composure as he checked out her room.

“Cute room… I see that you’re an L7 fan,” Harry said as he saw a poster of the female-fronted band.

“Wait, you know them?” Hermione was suddenly taken by surprise.

That’s not something usual, Hermione is always composed, she rarely gets surprised, but to know that her crush knew a band that she liked was something interesting to say the least.

“I must admit that I’m not the most obsessed person about them, but I think ‘Bricks Are Heavy’ is a great album,” Harry said with a smile.

Hermione remained silent; she couldn’t help but smile broadly. Of course, they would find something in common; they’re both Muggleborn.

“I love the underground music scene in London, I love to go to jungle and drum and bass raves during the weekends, would you like to come with me one of these days, Hermione?” Asked Harry with a calm expression.

He knew Hermione would never have the guts to ask him out; someone like her, who hates uncertainty, would never risk herself by asking someone else out. But after hearing his proposal, she couldn't help but look at him with a grin.

“I would love to, Harry,” Hermione said, and then she facepalmed. “Of course, how could I be so stupid? I have all these powers to teleport, and I don’t even use them for good things like you do, Harry!” She suddenly got to her feet and faced him.

Harry was surprised by her change in attitude, and at some point, he thought that she was going to kiss him.

“Harry… Please, teach me how to have fun!” She begged.

Harry remained silent for a few moments as he processed what he had just heard.

“Uh?” Harry questioned as he scratched the back of his head.

“Life’s too short, Harry, and I’m afraid that I've become a very boring person. What if I die tomorrow? What if the Death Eaters kill me? What will my legacy be? Just books and nothing else!” She complained, and Harry felt a bit bad for her.

She was sounding like she was going through a midlife crisis; however, he wasn’t going to tell her that. On the other hand, it was good that she realized that there were more things in life than just reading; the future Minister of Magic needs to know more about the world to make great decisions.

“Hermione, if you could change your hair color, what color would you choose?”  Harry asked with a soft smile.

Hermione was confused by his question, but still, she considered it and then smiled.

“Blue… I think that would be a nice—” Hermione couldn’t continue.

Instead of saying something, Harry decided to change her hair color with his wand. Hermione quickly looked at herself in the mirror.

“Harry, what the—” She was about to complain, but when she saw herself in the mirror, she couldn’t help but feel good.

Her hair was still a mess, but somehow, it looked good.

“Well, Mione, you told me that you wanted to have fun, right? Then we need to be dressed properly to have fun," he declared with a grin, and now Hermione was wondering what he was going to do.

Harry pointed his wand at himself, and soon his hair was fixed in a "frosted tips" style with a slight red color instead of blonde. Hermione couldn’t help but smile, then he transfigured his clothes to something more interesting: black boots, blue jeans that looked worn, a red shirt, and an unbuttoned long-sleeved black shirt.

“Come on, Hermione, try it yourself, I’m sure you have many ideas about what you would like to wear,” Harry encouraged the bookworm.

Hermione couldn’t help but blush because all the things she was thinking about were completely unproper to see even if the other person was her crush, so, she decided for something to match his mood, she decided for a pure black outfit, black boots, black skirt, and a red blouse, but she didn’t stop there she was also got her lips painted in black.

“Hermione… You look,” Harry said, surprised.

Hermione dressed like a rock star was a concept that he couldn’t help but love. The bookworm was a bit worried that he might dislike the way she looked, and she couldn’t help but chew her lower lip.

“Amazing!” Harry finally declared.

Hermione looked at him with a raised brow.

“Really? Do you like it? I just wanted to match your style…” She said in a shy tone.

“And that was a wise decision, because we’re going out, Hermione,” Harry declared, and Hermione was a bit taken aback by his words.

“What?” She couldn’t help but mutter in surprise. “But… We’re at the order headquarters, we'd better head out of Hogwarts…” Harry raised his hand.

“Hermione… You told me that you feel like a boring person, right? We’re not going to do something crazy like consuming strange substances and get crazy… We’re going to see a live band, move like crazy, and who knows? Maybe eat something delicious,” Harry told her with a smirk.

What Harry said caught Hermione’s attention, putting aside the Weird Sisters' show from the Yule Ball in their fourth year, this could be the first time she willingly sees a live band.

“Really? Who are we seeing?” Hermione had many questions right.

But what made Harry happy was the fact that she hadn’t rejected the idea.

“Who knows? That’s the fun thing, we’ll look for random bands, who knows? Maybe we’ll get bored, or maybe we could find the next big band in the world!” Harry declared, and Hermione couldn’t help but smirk.

She nodded heavily and then grabbed her hand as they went out.

“Snuffles, tell everyone that we’re going to London!” Hermione didn’t even wait for the dog to bark or something.

Harry was supposed to think Sirius was nothing but a dog. After all that, Harry teleported them away, and they landed on an abandoned alley, but it didn't take long before they started to explore the place. This was the first time Hermione was here.

“Wow… You’re really good at apparition, Harry. I don’t feel too dizzy,” Hermione said, surprised.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” Harry said, a bit nervous.

He didn’t have his apparating license; the ability just came naturally for him as he kept this skill from his original universe.

“What do we do now?” Asked Hermione, feeling nervous but excited at the same time, this was completely new for her.

He remained silent and then smiled before he took her hand.

“We’ll follow the music,” Harry answered, and then they started to run.

They were laughing, and people were looking at them weirdly, but they didn’t care; they were aware that Voldemort could return tomorrow, and they could die, so it’s better to apologize than regret not doing something you want.
