Chapter #19: Time skip.

Six months have passed since Bellatrix woke up, and Lucius Malfoy has been arrested. At first, there was a lot of chaos in the media, and it makes sense: Lucius has been funding many of those newspapers, and he has also helped build the careers of many journalists.

They quickly jumped to defend him, calling Aurors bigots, or labeling him as some rebel that was being politically prosecuted. It was nasty, seeing all those newspapers try to defend his actions, especially considering what the Aurors found later.

It seems like Lucius was planning to take his plans even further by moving from being a serial killer to a mass murderer. Werewolves were just the starting point; he was planning to go after all the other minorities in the wizarding world, especially Muggleborns, but most of all, he wanted to get rid of those humans that had different traits like metamorphs.

However, all that knowledge was sealed for now as it was going to be used as evidence in today’s trial, escorted by ten Aurors, Lucius Malfoy was being moved to the court located in the Ministry of Magic, the attorney on the Auror side was Dean Thomas, a Muggleborn and Harry’s former roommate.

As for the suspect's defense, Lucius had a team with the best magical lawyers of the country; he was able to easily afford to have the. Harry was worried that this could play right for that piece of shit and that somehow, they found legal loopholes or something to free Lucius.

“Lucius Malfoy, after a long deliberation and considering all the evidence against you, the court has decided to put the death penalty off the table,” Lucius and his team celebrated.

Harry didn’t know how to feel about this. He doesn’t fully support the death penalty, but with monsters like this, it’s better to get them off earth before they can contaminate other people, or worse, find a way to break free and continue with their behavior.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims who were in the audience of the trial started to sob and get angry as it seemed like most of them wanted Lucius to pay with his life after the murders he committed.

“So, a lot of things have been considered, after reviewing the past of the accuser and his role in our society… Lucius Malfoy, you're sentenced to spend your whole life in Azkaban, in a secluded area, there’s no possibility of parole for you, and you can’t get visits, you’re going to spend the rest of your days completely secluded,” the judge finished.

Lucius suddenly started to scream. It took him longer than Harry expected, but Lucius eventually realized that his sentence wasn't good, it doesn't matter if he was alive, he was going to spend at least a hundred years alone, there will be nothing for him to do and he'll have zero human contact,  that’s a recipe to go insane, that’s why others would prefer the death penalty rather than what he got.

“I thought I was going to get twenty years… You told me you were going to lessen my sentence!” Lucius told his lawyers. “Johnson… You fucking idiot, I made you, you’re a judge because of me!” Lucius spat angrily at the judge.

“Take the prisoner back to Azkaban so he can start with his sentence,” the judge ordered as he slammed his hammer.

Lucius was soon moved out of the room where he was screaming and insulting everyone. Sadly, they couldn’t silence him as that would be illegal, and it could ruin this whole process.

“Well, Dean, it’s over,” Harry walked towards his former roommate.

“Yeah mate, it’s done, it’s been a very disturbing case to say the least,” Dean told Harry.

Soon, the two of them spoke with the families of the victims. They gave their condolences and hoped they would be able to eventually move on, something that was easier said than done, but what other choice did they have?

After sharing some last words, Harry finally got out of the court, and he couldn’t help but stare at the scene of Lucius being escorted back to Azkaban. However, suddenly, something crazy happened; the Aurors that were escorting him started to fall one by one.

“Fuck… A surprise attack?” Harry asked, completely taken aback.

Soon, he called for reinforcements; however, that was just the start. Even if it was the middle of the day, something even crazier took place; suddenly, everything became dark, it was like the sun’s switch had been turned off.

“Lumos!” Harry screamed, and he could only take a small glimpse at what was going on.

A group of masked men had defeated the Aurors, and then they grabbed Lucius before they disappeared. Harry could only watch in frustration as the light came back, and there was no sight of Lucius Malfoy; the Aurors were lying dead as the reinforcements arrived.

“Shit!” Harry said angrily.

“Harry… We heard the news, what happened?!” Ron questioned with a raised brow.

Soon, Harry told him and the rest of the team what happened; to say they weren’t happy would be an understatement.

“If only they had sentenced him to the dementor’s kiss, they would’ve instantly executed him, and this wouldn’t have happened,” Harry said angrily as he pointed at the dead bodies.

“Harry… What happened?!” That was Amelia Bones.

Harry was trying his hardest to keep himself calm; however, that was easier said than done. Soon, he explained everything to the redhead, who was now in charge of their team until Bellatrix recovered her memory, something that didn’t seem close.

“Let’s get back to the office so you can answer some questions, Potter,” Amelia said with a serious tone.

It made sense for her to act like that; one dead officer was a disaster, ten of them dead meant something worse. Harry nodded, and soon he was escorted back to the office.

“The rest of you, let’s secure this area. The forensics team will arrive soon, so try to recover evidence and tell the people who walk around to get away, don’t waste time, and put notice me not charms as soon as possible,” Amelia ordered them.

Soon, she was back in the Auror department with Harry. They were in the interrogation room, and Harry was staring at the ceiling, clearly blaming himself for what happened. Soon Amelia and Tonks entered the room, and it was difficult for them to have Harry in the interrogation room to question and not as an investigator.

“They should’ve sentenced him to death,” Harry said in a low tone.

Both women looked at him with pitiful expressions.

“This wouldn’t have happened had they given him the dementor’s kiss,” Harry slammed his fists on the table. “Now, he’s free, he has supporters, and ten Aurors are dead,” Harry couldn’t help but bury his face in his hands.

“Harry… We need to hear everything, don’t ignore any detail, please,” Amelia tried to get him to talk.

“If you want to get justice for those dead officers, you need to tell us everything, Harry,” Tonks said with a bitter tone.

She knew some of the dead officers; in fact, they were from her generation, and others were seniors who helped her when she joined the forces, so, just like Harry, she wanted justice.

Hearing those words made Harry grit his teeth in frustration. They were right; he couldn’t waste time hating himself. He’ll have time to do that later; for now, the priority was to find those bastards and make them pay for what they have done.
