Chapter #11: Kingdom of maniacs.

Deep in the Scottish mountains, there was a small village, but there was something in particular about this place: all the houses in the village were built with silver, and in the center, there was a castle built with gold, and it was decorated with diamonds and a lot of precious jewels.

Inside the castle, there was a lot of noise; there was a party. In the main room of the castle, there was a huge table with a lot of delicious meat and pastries with no vegetables in sight; there were also countless bottles of the finest alcohol money can buy; there was a small group of people who were singing and enjoying all this.

Many were enjoying the food, and others were having sex on the other side of the room; there was no shame, and watching all this unfolding was a red-haired man wearing a crown with diamonds. On his right side there was a brown-haired woman who didn’t look amused at the situation.

In fact, she was sharing a look with the man on her left, a dark-haired, grim-faced man who looked too annoyed to keep doing this. It took him a while, but the man on the throne quickly noticed the state of the woman on his right.

“Hermione… What’s wrong, love? We made it; we finally built the best civilization, one in which studying, working, or doing any of the things that made us sad back then won’t be necessary to survive,” the red-haired man tried to kiss the woman, but she avoided him.

“Really, Ron? You’re seeing all this, and you still ask why I’m not amused?!” She asked with an irritated tone.

“Come on, Hermione… It’s just a small celebration,” then the conversation was interrupted as one of the couples reached their orgasm. “And the winners are the Smiths!” Ron said with a smirk.

Then he threw a bag of gold to the Smith couple. One of the first things Ron did when he started to plan his civilization was raiding as many of the Gringotts vaults as he could; no matter what happened to Goblins, their gold still held the same value and strength; it was an asset that had been enchanted to last for ages.

Luckily, even if there’s no civilization, wizards have been mentally programmed to respect the currency; from a certain standpoint, it may look like a stupid idea to work to earn money in the magical world; after all, a magical person can live a fulfilling life with magic.

But the act of working and earning money is more like a tradition or social convention in the magical world, and that’s something Ron decided to take advantage of, he knew his good friend Harry Potter wouldn’t care about money, so, Ron decided to use people’s naiveness to become the richest person in the world, and now he was finally in the place where he thought he deserved to be, with people who worshipped him and with his girlfriend, he didn’t need anything else.

“I don’t know why you’re so mad; this is how a true magical person should behave, they should be one with nature, having fun and enjoying life, not wasting their lives working or studying!” Ron scowled.

Hermione looked at him with an arched brow.

“Ron… There are more things in life than having fun; everything in excess is bad… Even fun,” Hermione told him with a serious expression. “If you really want to keep a civilization, then you need to give people responsibilities; you need to build hospitals, build schools, and many other things we need,” Hermione couldn’t help but massage her bridge as she said this.

Ron was getting annoyed.

“That sounds so boring, Hermione,” he said with disgust. “As I said, we don’t need any of that; we’re magical and even if we get sick or something, we can always count on Severus to help us. He’s good when it comes to potions, right, Severus?” Asked the redhead with a smirk.

“It’s Professor Snape for you,” the grim man was getting annoyed.

He hated being called by his name by Weasley out of all the people.

“I am your king… Don’t forget about it!” Ron said with an arrogant tone.

Snape just smirked.

“I’m not your peasant; I swore loyalty to Miss Granger, not you, so don’t try to make me act like one of your lackeys,” Snape countered, and the redhead wasn’t looking happy.

However, he knew he couldn’t win against Snape, so he just scowled.

“You two are wasting your time.” Ron was getting tired.

He got on his feet and soon greeted his people; some women started to dance close to him, and he was trying to stop it. He was dating Hermione and didn’t want her to get mad at him; however, the women were too insistent, and in the end, he couldn’t help but cave in and dance with them.

This was part of his duty, to make his citizens happy, and if dancing with them would make them happy, then he was more than ready to oblige. Hermione, on the other hand, couldn’t take it anymore; she got on her feet and ran from the room. Snape followed suit.

“Hermione… Are you okay?” He was feeling so stupid; of course she wasn’t okay.

“If being okay is feeling disgusted by your boyfriend being a complete prat, then, yes… I’m fine, Severus… I’m incredibly fine actually,” she answered in her typical know-it-all tone.

However, Snape couldn’t help but laugh at her answer, causing her to look at him with an offended expression.

“Shut up… I tried to open my heart to you, and that’s the way you react…? You’re awful, Severus, you know that, right?” Hermione tried not to look embarrassed, but she failed miserably.

“I’m sorry, Hermione… It’s just that I can finally stop pretending that I don’t like you and your attitude,” he couldn’t help but laugh again.

She looked at him with a surprised expression.

“Thanks… I like that side of me too,” she answered honestly.

She still had a bit of an offended expression, but she was feeling better right now. Soon the two of them started to laugh, and then they sat on one of the balconies of the castle.

“What are we doing here, Severus? Do we really have no choice in this world to be back to normal?” Hermione couldn’t help but sigh.

“I don’t know, Miss Granger… The reality is that I’ve never been a normal person myself, but… I think we can still save this civilization,” Snape said as he caressed his chin.

“Unless you plan to use the Imperius curse on him, I don’t think he will change his mind,” she sighed.

However, before they could say something else, Ron decided to appear, surprising both of them; the redhead was now looking at them with discomfort.

“You two… What are you doing here?” Asked the redhead, a bit annoyed.

Neither Snape nor Hermione said anything; however, Snape decided to make an excuse in the heat of the moment.

“We were talking about how to make things better for you, your majesty, and we came to the conclusion that you should let us handle the boring stuff of your government while you play and have fun,” Snape said with a serious tone.

Ron was a bit distrustful; however, the idea of having fun without responsibilities was very tempting for the redhead.
