Chapter #62: The real me, part III.

Harry had always wanted to meet his parents; in fact, what some people didn’t know was that back then, when he faced Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest, he sacrificed himself because of the possibility of at least hugging them in the afterlife. Of course, he wouldn’t say that to anyone, as they would think there’s something wrong with him. They’ll think he doesn’t like to live.

It wasn’t like that, it was more like a coping mechanism that helped him to sacrifice himself for the last time, it was comforting to know that even if Voldemort killed him, at least he would meet his parents, however, he was glad that he didn’t meet his parents in the afterlife, or else he wouldn’t have come back, no matter how much of a noble hero you think you are, humans are weak, and he’s a human who’s weak sometimes.

That’s why when he arrived in this universe, he felt really conflicted about his parents; well, the so-called parents of his version of this universe. It was hard to call them that because they’ve been everything but that; abandoning a son isn’t something that can be easily forgiven.

Being in a universe in which his parents were alive was a dream come true, but sadly, things are always messed up for him because they’re not actually his parents; no matter how much he could try to fool himself into believing that, they’re not his parents.

They didn’t sacrifice their lives for him to live, and he for sure knew that had his parents been in the same situation as these Potters, they wouldn’t have abandoned them, if the Potters or this universe wanted to be left alone, then Harry was going to do that, he knew nothing good could come out of him interacting with them and it seems like his fear became a reality as his mother, this version of Lily Evans had been hit by a killing curse as she tried to save him.

“No!” Harry screamed as he killed the last Death Eater, the one who sent that spell.

Harry didn’t know what possessed him; maybe it was instinct, maybe it was the guilt because even though he didn’t want to deal with these versions of his parents and their friends, he still didn’t want them to get harmed, and yet, in the end, the woman he didn’t want to acknowledge as his mother was now lying on the ground.

“No… You can’t die yet!” Harry said angrily as he ran and carried her in his arms.

This was so frustrating; it was so unfair. She shouldn’t have given him reasons to feel guilty; they were supposed to hate each other.

“Why? Why would you sacrifice your life for me if you hated me so much… Why?!” Harry said desperately.

He couldn’t help but caress the broken collar, and then he was able to recognize it from the day Voldemort attacked them. He loved that collar, or well, his version of this universe loved the collar as a baby.

“She was hit with the killing curse, Harry… I’m sorry,” Hermione told him with a sad expression.

Harry couldn’t believe it. Had he done his job right, then the redhead wouldn’t have sacrificed her life for him, and now he was going to live with that regret for the rest of his days. Just when he was about to indulge in his own self-hatred, something even crazier happened. Lily started to cough.

“What the—” Harry couldn’t believe it.

Soon there were gasps amongst the family and friends; there was no way she survived the killing curse.

“Mrs. Potter—” Harry was about to say with a serious tone.

However, she then released a shrieking sound, and Harry had to let her go and move away; there was something really wrong with her. When she was on the floor, she was acting like she wanted to spit something, and then, to everyone’s shock, the dark aura that came from the destroyed Horcruxes came out from her broken collar.

“What… There’s no way—” before Harry could say something else, everyone started to collapse.

Everyone but he and his lovers.

“Harry… What was that?” Fleur asked, surprised.

Harry didn’t say anything; he just slowly walked towards Lily’s figure and placed his hand close to her nose. Once he confirmed that she was still breathing, he grabbed the collar, and then his eyes widened; for a small little moment, he felt a little connection with Voldemort.

“It can’t be…” Harry said as he now held the empty collar. “This thing was one of them, an accidental one,” Harry couldn’t believe it.

However, before they could say or do something else, someone else decided to make an appearance.

“Harry… I did it, I did what you asked me to,” that voice was easily recognizable by Harry.

“Bella,” Harry told the older witch.

Then there were wands pointed at her, but Harry quickly stopped them.

“Bellatrix… I knew you were on our way to kill us, aunty,” Nymphadora looked incredibly angry.

“Please stop with all this nonsense,” Harry ordered.

The women from the order didn’t want to obey; however, the look he was giving them was more than enough to make them lower their wands. They trusted him and especially trusted his abilities, so, if Bellatrix decided to try to harm him, they knew he was more than capable of defeating her.

“She’s not the same Bellatrix all of you are used to,” Harry tried to explain.

“Yeah… Well, I won’t believe that until I see it with my own eyes,” this side of Hermione was interesting to see.

“She’s a monster, Harry… No matter how hot you think she is, she’s not what it seems!” Fleur tried to warn him.

“She’s actually not the dangerous Bellatrix you’re used to; trust me, I know that because I managed to save her, look!” Harry pointed at the older witch’s arm.

There was no mark.

“What the…?” Tonks was confused.

“The dark mark is gone,” Hermione said this time.

“I thought that was impossible. Krum told me that Karkaroff tried everything, but he couldn’t achieve it; he couldn’t get rid of that tattoo,” Fleur said with a surprised tone.

“I’m not going to bore you with details; let's just say that the dark mark turns you into a monster. I destroyed the mark on her arm, and Bellatrix was back to her normal self before they made her join the Death Eater ranks,” Harry explained.

The women were a bit skeptical.

“Bella, did you get what I asked you for?” Harry asked with a smirk.

He knew she succeeded; after all, she wouldn’t be here if that weren't the case.

“Oh yes,” she answered with a happy tone.

“This is going to prove to you that she’s not much of a threat because… If she were the dark lord’s most loyal follower, then…” Harry trailed off.

Bellatrix then made a cage appear, and inside there was a strange-looking humanoid creature.

“What the…?” Hermione and the rest asked.

“This… Dear ladies, this is… The dark lord… Voldemort,” Harry presented the thing as if this were nothing, a freak show from a carnival.

“Potter!” Said the dark lord once the silencing charm was lifted.

“Well done, Bella; needless to say that you killed the snake, right?” He asked with a knowing look.

Bellatrix still nodded, and Harry was more than satisfied while the other ladies were shocked to say the least.
