Chapter #12: A conversation with Cho.

The civilization was thriving, and just like Harry suspected, the wizarding civilization was gatekeeping the power from muggles because even if they didn’t have magic, they were able to use magical artifacts, and so, a new branch of magic was starting to get developed, a fusion between magic and muggle technology, right now their goal was to create a battery to power magical artifacts so non magical people could use them.

Harry was impressed to say the least. Right now he was having a conversation with Cho; it was refreshing to talk to her without having to worry about the feelings of the past. The Asian witch worked at the Department of Mysteries when the petrification took place, so Harry was surprised by the things she was telling him about what they did when she was an unspeakable.

“Apparently magic comes from space; it was a gift from an alien civilization or a curse, depending on who you ask. They made experiments with the ancestors of humans to see what we’re capable of achieving, and they were impressed that they were able to create something similar to an infinite energy generator inside our bodies,” Cho explained, and Harry was surprised to hear all that.

“Please don’t hesitate to elaborate, Cho, I’m afraid I lack a lot of knowledge when it comes to science,” he said with an embarrassed tone.

She softly smiled at him.

“It’s alright, Harry… You had a lot of things to worry about back then, so our magic works uniquely as we can create more energy than we can consume,” she explained, and Harry was fascinated.

Harry hated himself because back then he was only seeing Cho as the pretty athlete; of course, it seemed like she continued playing sports after graduating, as her body became even better. Still, he decided not to see her as a woman; the circumstances were very different right now; Cho would never fall for him after the disaster of an experiment that was their relationship.

However, she was showing an even more interesting side; it was easy to miss it back then because she didn’t like to stand out and also because she was a year above him in school, but she was smart; she knew what she was talking about, and the most impressive thing was the fact that she had learned all that for herself.

There’s a stereotype about Asian people and being smart, but apparently Cho’s parents were more interested in her having fun; they wanted her to have a professional Quidditch career, but she ended up pursuing an academic career even though many Quidditch teams were interested in her. However, Harry was grateful to have her as an academic.

So, seeing her talking so passionately about something that she loves (aside from Quidditch) is really interesting, and it’s making him feel interesting things that he shouldn’t feel because now he’s older than her and there’s no way she would fall for him, right?

“That’s a very interesting origin of magic, Cho; why don’t we learn that at school?” Harry asked, surprised.

“Well, because it's knowledge that’s only reserved for those who reach the unspeakable level at the Department of Mysteries, and even if you achieve it, you’re strictly forbidden from speaking about it… All those rules were put in place in an effort to keep making the purebloods happy; the minister and many others knew about it; however, they don't like that knowledge as it destroys their superior views about themselves,” she explained, a bit disappointed.

Harry decided to move, and now he was sitting beside her; his hand was now resting on top of hers.

“Sounds like you had to deal with a lot of corruption, just like me, Cho. I want to make sure you know that’s not going to happen in this new civilization we’re creating,” Harry explained, and she looked at him with a surprised expression.

She was looking at him in a way that reminded him of those days back when they were dating in school.

“I know this might sound crazy, but… I want to create a world in which we’re not restricted by bigotry. I don’t care how hard the truth is, science and progress must be put above everything else, as long as it doesn’t harm people,” Harry explained, and Cho nodded.

She smiled.

“That’s a very… Nice philosophy, Harry,” she said with a smile.

“You think so? I explained the same thing to Hermione, and she got scared and ran away,” Harry sighed, disappointed. "I've started to doubt myself since then," he confessed before weakly smiling.

Suddenly, there was silence, but it wasn’t uncomfortable.

“I hope you don’t hate me for what I’m about to say, Harry, but Hermione… She’s kind of a hypocrite,” Cho’s words surprised Harry.

He wanted to defend his best friend, but Cho raised her hand.

“I mean, she’s capable of doing mean things too as long as it serves her purposes. I don’t know what burdens she’s carrying or what she went through since she was little, but it’s clear that she’s not above doing awful things as long as it serves her purposes… What she did to Marietta was logical but still a bit out of character from Granger, according to the way she behaves and how she polices everyone, of course,” Cho explained with a sad tone.

Harry wanted to snap at her; however, she was right. Hermione has always been like that; she liked to scold and police others, but she didn’t like to be reminded of the terrible actions she committed.

“Where are you going with this, Cho?” Harry asked, a bit reluctant to say that Cho was right.

Then she surprised him by putting one of her legs over his own; this made him look at her with an interested expression.

“Where I’m going, Harry, is that… You don’t have to worry about those kinds of things with me… You have my complete support, not only because you saved me and defeated Voldemort, but because I think you have the right idea about what the world should be,” Cho explained with a smile.

Harry was surprised by her declaration.

“Really?” He was taken aback by such a display of sincerity from the Asian woman.

“Yes… I don’t think there’s a better person to lead us than you… I mean, you defeated Voldemort and not even once did you do it by stepping over others. Even though your main focus was to kill Voldemort, you were still worried about others, and that’s why you sacrificed yourself, and at that moment I figured out what Voldemort did to keep himself immortal,” she explained, and Harry gasped.

“Cho… You know about the—” Cho stopped him.

“No, don’t say it, Harry… We don’t know if someone might be listening; let’s just keep that secret sealed forever, as long as we know, your mother’s protection worked twice, is that clear?” She asked with a calm tone.

Harry gulped and nodded; he was surprised by Cho’s attitude and also very turned on.

“Good… But there’s something you need to know, Harry… I didn’t come here just to talk to you about the origin of magic and all the conspiracies the government has been hiding from us,” Cho suddenly got up and stood on her feet.

“Really? What’s on your mind, Cho?” Harry asked with an interested expression.

The beautiful Asian witch suddenly made her clothes disappear, and Harry’s eyes widened. He had always fantasized about Cho’s body back then, and now, he finally had it in full display in front of him; to say that he was shocked would be an understatement- a very welcome understatement. The Asian witch could only giggle at his reaction.
