The time has come to get the scales involved. Today we are going to learn how to play the blues scale on the Ukulele. The shape that we used in the first challenge was shape 1, but depending on the key you are in it will change the shape that you use. Today we are going to learn how to play shape 4, but we will also add a root note from shape 5 as well so we have a since of resolution.

The scale is what is used to create both the melody that you will sing, but also the notes that you will play when you are playing a solo. This lesson isn't designed to turn you into a soloing machine but rather it is designed to show you how to practice a new scale. You want to memorize the scale and you want to do so in a context that lets you hear with with different chords. By practicing it as a fill you are not only committing to memory you are hearing what it sounds like in a 12 bar blues context as well. That is very valuable if you want to take your playing to the next level.

Here is how to enter and maybe win yourself a brand new Ukulele from Tenthumbs!
