I am really glad you are reaching to this show. Hang in there so many others are reacting to it as well. While the sex scenes caught me off guard at first, I soon thought of shows such as Bridgerton, where simulated straight sex is a non-issue for most viewers. This show is significant because it provides an authentic look at gay sex, which is key to normalising queer experiences. I've noticed many reactions from straight people, especially men, who had no idea certain intimacy positions were possible for two men. The sex in this series tells a story and is essential for depicting the characters' relationship progression, carrying as much narrative weight as the dialogue. I'm looking forward to watching your reactions to the rest of the episodes!

i appreciate that so much!! i truly think thats what maybe i was feeling without realizing because the scenes i felt were very accurate to sometimes how hook up and sex can be for us in the gay world. i think i even said that a few times where i was like this seems very accurate. ive also never consumed gay media like this before and obvi only in corn so it feels super personal but im glad its out there and im glad that a lot of people are watching it including straight men. ive seen a lot of men reactors like almost respect it so much because of what you said! how they had no idea!! great insight babe

yeah as a queer person, it makes me SO happy, like over the moon, to see these depictions - they’re so beautiful and normal and romantic and mundane and sexy and awkward and just … so well done. These two actors are magnificent. I think the fact that it is getting so much of a homophobic response makes me want to proliferate it everywhere 😄. Oh and also, I haven’t heard it with headphones in, and I guess the sound with headphones is really different (more intense/ detailed) so maybe that is more stress on the sexual sound effects than what I’m hearing on my iPhone

Late to the party, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciated your reaction. As mentioned in the comments, I love how the show portrays gay sex with such honesty. I don’t watch many BL series but the few I’ve seen are often very timid when it comes to gay intimacy. This show, on the other hand, feels genuinely bold and refreshing in the way it breaks those barriers. I also really love Jacob Tierney’s gay gaze. It feels so new in mainstream television. The way the camera lingers on Ilya’s crotch and neck in the gym scene is especially striking. It’s a great reminder that the straight male gaze we’re so used to shouldn’t be the only way stories are told. And that we need more representations on screen and behind cameras!

The thing is (sorry if my english is bad... I am from Germany) the balcony scene is so sad because Ilya is standing there alone not because of Shane, but because he is not excited to go home to Russia. Shane doesn´t get is at all because his home is such a save place.
