François confirmed that Scott isn't actually clocking Shane's tea - what we see of Scott in the initial two episodes are almost from Shane's perspective so his paranoia is working overtime. And for Scott, well as far as he knows Shane doesn't like being associated with Ilya so telling him he sounds like him was just to piss him off. And then Shane's extreme paranoia kicks off the fight.

It did a bit which is why an interviewer asked him. He just noticed that Shane gets a bit agitated so he's not putting two and two together so much as sensing something that he's not looking deep enough into to name, if that makes sense? He just knows that Shane reacts some kind of way so uses it to clap back. Honestly after watching this episode, poor Scott has enough to be going on without worrying what his rookie opponent from a rival team is up to. Man is going through it!😭

Interestingly... Rachel Reid said in a recent interview that Scott was clocking Shane's tea in the show... which is obviously a change from the books, but interesting...

I don’t see anyone who’s said it yet but hockey is like THE most conservative sport, at least men’s hockey. There are still no out players in the mayor leagues at all. It would still be a massive deal and probably career damaging and probably dangerous. Was worse then but it’s not like good now
