What did you think of Half life?! I thought it was very fun and chaotic to play through, a nice way to end the year :) I'll try to get out Half Life 2 soon, happy holidays everyone!

My first experience of Half Life comes to an end!

Christmas has come early!

Thank you for the ending episode, and happy holidays to you too! 🧡

Chris DePrisco

Woo! I'm excited to see the ending since I've apparently never finished HL1 lol

Huib Gelling

Yes👏🏻yes👏🏻yes👏🏻yes👏🏻

Arkytior

Heck yeah! Half life done. Super excited for hl2

G. Gringle

It's been a fun playthrough indeed! I've laughed a lot. Instant classic status I'd say. I like that you're dressed up (ya look very lovely), but still weilding a crowbar in the thumbnail. Aliens best back tf up! Thank you for all the great videos this year! Happy holidays all!

Allen

Happy Holidays to you too! And thanks for all the great videos you made this year. I had been living in another country for a few years and it got pretty lonely but your videos always made me feel better. I hope you have a good end to your 2024 and thanks again!

Really excited to watch Half-Life 2. It's very much the superior game, and fixes a lot of the minor flaws with the first one. Xen in particular was very much rushed in Half-Life 1 - it definitely feels disconnected from the rest of the game and lacked a lot of the playtesting polish. You may be pleased to hear a lot of the "platforming" elements are gone in HL2 - they were an interesting concept but not perfectly executed.

Trolez

Just finished the episode, and this was definitely a fun series that belongs in the Symbalily hall of fame. Half-Life is a great game and amazing for its time. But Half-Life 2 is an even greater all-time classic imo. Happy holidays!

Juan

I haven't seen part 6 yet, but this is easily one of my favorite series on the channel. Excited for HL2. Happy Holidays!

ChilledGricken

this has been an absolute banger of a series, you smashed it! happy holidays!

Joe Leary

Cracking series as always Amber, thanks for the content this year and a very merry Christmas to ya :)

mattbrush3pwood

What a play through! Easily among my favourite on the channel. Full of hilariously chaotic moments while still showcasing what makes it one of the greatest games to this day. Also, thanks for consistently providing us with quality entertainment even during challenging times. It is appreciated. Hope you get to have a break over the festive period & have a Merry Christmas!

Flukemarm

That was loads of fun! The ending was quite fitting after managing to brute force the boss.

Linktothefuture

You finished so quickly! I was sure Xen was going to take you longer than that. I'm SUPER excited you are moving on to Half-Life 2!!! I think you'll like Half-Life 2 way more than Half-Life 1. It's more modern (graphics, game style, physics, etc) with a stronger focus on story and characters. FYI, the "Source" engine that debuted with the game was a big deal at the time. Video games didn't have the kind of physics engines they do now until Half-Life 2. So... about the guy with the briefcase. He's called "The G-Man" and shows up no fewer than 8 times before that final scene. You caught many of them, actually, although you missed the very first one (near the end of the opening train-ride... you can see him in a few frames of your playthrough).

W. W. Wiklund

I haven't caught up on the series yet, but: happy holidays! I'm excited to see how this goes when I get to it, haha! It's been a blast watching you play so far. :D Also, I feel the need to note: You look absolutely stunning! I Adore the outfit, makeup, hair, necklace, it all goes together amazingly. Gorgeous!

solifis

That was a great episode!! I'm so happy you liked the game, I was a little worried after your frustrations 😂 This is a childhood memory for me. Also very excited for Half-life 2!!! It's such a different experience 🥰

Jack B.

Excellent series, I really enjoyed it thank you! So much so it inspired me to join up.

rogbrte

Loved this playthrough, can't wait for HL2!

Nick Herrick

Great series Amber, can't wait to see what you think of Half Life 2. Hope you had great holidays!

Lee Baguley

Amazing! To also hear you say that HL2 is up next fills my excitement meter up to max levels hahaa. So exciting! You are going to LOVE it! Thanks for doing what you do on here Amber. It makes people's days just that little bit brighter and you should be commended for taking the time to do it. Go you.

I just re-became a Patron after viewing your HL series. I joined back when you were doing Hollow Knight, then pared down my patreon list for a little while, but now that you're doing the HL franchise, frankly, I want to pay you for it. And I want early access for Half-Life 2! I got _very_ into Half-Life, to the point of recording my own story/lore-based playthrough and learning to speedrun it. Seeing you react to the amazing, imperfect, revolutionary chaos that is Half-Life and the GoldSrc engine was wonderful. Your names for things were priceless: calling Barney "Burt." Calling the snarks "fleas." I highly recommend you watch a speedrun of Half-Life (scriptless, RTA) with commentary. It is one of the most glorious (and optimized) runs out there. It is a total riot. Also, if you have a bit more time, go watch Freeman's Mind, which I'm positive others have mentioned already. Happy gaming! 🫶🏻
