Drawing Snapshot - Tiny Pumpkin Home (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone,
I just drew a teeny, cute pumpkin home based on your votes in my last drawing poll and I just had to share a little snapshot of the process with you!
I haven't decided who might live in this little home, maybe a mouse, or a hedgehog - what do you think?
Here is a little breakdown of how I drew this illustration and the base colour palette that I used (which I'll attach below if you'd like to use it in your own illustrations):
First, I drew a simple sketch of my composition. It's a simple illustration but I didn't want it to feel too symmetrical so I made sure that it was a bit wonky and that the door was a bit off-centre.
I made my sketch layer about 30% opacity so that I would be able to see through it (to use it as a reference).
Then I coloured in all of my elements in a flat colour, keeping different elements on their own layers. There aren't too many different shapes in this illustration so this stage was quite quick.
I spent most of my time adding details and texture. Everything got a broad pass of texture using my Textured Pencil Light or Chunky Crayon brushes, and then I did all of my shading using texture brushes too.
I drew in some details like daisies on the curtains to add a bit of personality, and some leaf details to the door.
Then I coloured in the ground using my Textured Pencil brush which is how I get the effect of it blending out at the edges.
And that's it!
I really this one, I think because it's bold in colour and simple in shape, but there's still plenty of detail and personality to it. I'll make into it a digital print for Beautiful Bluebell patrons this week 💖🍂
