How To Draw Different Mushrooms (Patreon)

Hello lovely creatives!
Since the prompt for this month’s illustration club is ‘a magical forest’ I thought it would be fun to continue on that theme and explore today how to draw different types of mushroom.
Mushrooms are super cool and I think I should feature them more often in my illustrations! They come in so many different shapes, sizes and colours, and are a really great addition to a forest scene. Because there are so many different types, you can get away with mixing and matching how they look rather than being totally accurate, especially if your scene is a bit magical!
They’re really simple to draw so I’ve not written steps out in text, but you can follow the visual steps below.
Once you’re feeling confident with these shapes, you can experiment with making your mushrooms taller and skinnier, or shorter and rounder, and try different shaped tops to build your own mushrooms.
I also really like that you can use pretty much any natural colour for mushrooms, even colours like blues and purples. When we hiked the Overland Track in Tasmania recently I actually saw mushrooms in every colour of the rainbow (I was ticking them off as I saw them!) so don’t feel like you need to stick to red and brown (like I have in this tutorial).
Here are a few colouring ideas:
Do you ever draw mushrooms in your forest scenes? I think I should draw them more often because it’s been a while!
I've attached below the jpg of the steps so that you can use it for reference in your digital drawing software if that's what you're using. Enjoy! ♥
