Drawing Snapshot (featuring witchy cottage!) (Patreon)

Hello my beautiful flowers!

I've just finished drawing this witchy cottage in the woods based on the last poll we did and wanted to show you a bit of my drawing process for it.

I wanted it to feel magical so I added lots of stars and glowing effects to help with that ✨

So my drawing process for this cottage went a little something like this:

First a drew a sketch of my composition. This is actually one of my neater sketches and I really like it on its own! I drew mushrooms in the sketch but totally forgot to draw them in the final because I had turned off my sketch layer by that point oops 😅

Then I made that sketch layer about 20% opacity and 'multiply' blend mode so that I would be able to see through it

On new layers below, I started colouring in all of my shapes using the sketch as a reference. I coloured most things that were a different colour on their own layer

Then I started adding details and smaller elements like stars and the grass

After that I went and gave pretty much every layer lots of texture and shading

And finally I added some glowing elements by using a really soft brush on 'screen' blend mode in a light colour

And that's it!

I used quite a different colour palette to what I would normally use but it feels quite appropriate for this time of year and it was fun to use new colours! I've attached the palette below so feel free to use it for your own illustrations too.

Also, my brush pack is finished and I'm just putting together a video about how to use the brushes so that I can share them with you before the weekend! Yay! ✨🥰
