Mimi's Newsletter - Publishing My Brush Pack! (Patreon)
Content
At last! I've been trying to make my brush pack for longer than I'd like to admit and it's such a relief that I can now share it with the world 🙌
Thank you so much to everyone who helped me test out the early access version of the brushes, it really helped a lot! If you weren't a Patron in October then you can still get my brushes on my Etsy store and all Patrons get a discount (it varies by tier, you can find your discount code on the 'My Membership' page or DM me).
Visit the brushes on Etsy here.
I put our cute moth on the cover image for the listing because I thought they were so cute! 🥰
The brushes I released are pretty much the same as the pack we tested together with some minor tweaks, and I also added a brush called 'smooth shading' which is the same as 'texture medium' but much smoother and with some different presets.
I also included in the pack some digital textures I made that I sometimes apply to my illustrations. I'm working on a little guide to share with Happy Sunflowers and Beautiful Bluebells this month about how to use texture overlays (basically jpgs of a texture that you blend into your art) so I'll share one or two of them with you there, and I'm thinking I might also make a little tutorial for how you can make your own because they're so easy.
Now that the brush pack is finished I can turn my attention to some other things, and I'm really excited to start thinking about my advent calendar here on Patreon for this year! I'll just be doing 12 days this year so I'm thinking it'll be every other day from the 1st December through to the 24th and will include some festive goodies and art resources. I know that not everyone celebrates Christmas so there will also be some 'normal' Patreon content too that isn't so festive!
Let me know if you have any ideas for what I could include in the advent calendar. Basically the idea is that I post something festive every other day in December as we get closer to Christmas so it gets delivered to your inbox, and they're just little extra goodies on top of the usual Patreon content (some things overlap though). Last year I did printable gift tags, a tinsel brush for Photoshop/Procreate, some how-to guides, printable bookmarks, phone wallpapers, that sort of thing. If it's festive, digital, and something I can make in a couple of hours or less then it can go in the calendar 😄🎄✨
^ some of last year's goodies!
I'm also moving house soon so I need to start packing up my studio to move interstate in our teeny car 😅So, I have quite a busy month coming up but an exciting one, here's my main to-do list:
Finish drafts for a picture book
Create advent calendar goodies ✨🎄
Make two Youtube videos
Move house
Plus all the usual Patreon goodies
What have you got coming up? Is the end of the year a busy time for you or is it quiet? 🥰
