Drawing Snapshot (featuring galaxy moth!) (Patreon)

Hello my lovelies, I hope you're having a nice weekend!

I've just drawn another version of the moth that I originally drew in November because I thought they looked so sweet and it's fun to customise the wings to be different themes. This one I did as a celestial/galaxy theme!

The drawing process for this one was a bit different because I just used the base shapes that I already had from the previous one and redrew the wing designs.

I think it's totally ok to re-use illustrations if you want to, sometimes it feels like everything has to be from scratch but if you have an illustration that you want to redesign then I say go for it!

So here is a quick breakdown of my illustration process this time and also the colour palette that I used which you're more than welcome to use in your own illustrations as well (you can download it below if you want to drag and drop into your drawing software).

So my drawing process went a little something like this:

I duplicated the original moth illustration and then stripped back all of the layers to just the base shapes of the wings and body

I added a background and changed the colours of the wings to fit the new theme

Then I started adding details to the wings to decorate them in more of a celestial/galaxy theme with stars and moons

Once I had the moth coloured the way I wanted it with some details, I added lots of shading and texture to the wings and the body

I also changed my mind on the background colour and made it more pink with a bit of blue and orange in it

And that's about it!

It was quite a quick illustration to draw because it's already fairly simple but also I skipped the concept and sketching stages and just did the colouring and shading so that saved lots of time!
