Mimi's Newsletter - New Patreon Feature + Visiting Galleries (Patreon)

Hello everyone!

I hope you're getting ready for some cozy autumn activities if you're in the northern hemisphere, or are looking forward to some spring weather if you're in the south! 🍂☀️✨

Collections

First, I want to tell you about a new feature that Patreon just released yesterday which solves one of the biggest drawbacks of the platform - you can now find existing benefits much more easily with 'collections' which allow me to bundle together similar things into folders.

Now you can go to these collections and find things like all of the video lessons in one place - hooray!

I've made a few collections for the main benefits that I think are nice to browse and you can find them by going to the 'collections' tab from the home page, it should show up underneath my profile picture!

What I've Been Working On

I've been working on lots of fun things this month, I think I had a big boost of motivation after taking some time off over June and July and had lots of ideas for things that I wanted to create.

I'm almost finished with a big script for a video class for artists about getting clarity on your goals and making a business plan, so I'll be filming that in early September and hopefully posting it in early October.

I think Skillshare will be the easiest place to share it, since lots of people already have a subscription and anyone can get a free trial so will technically be able to watch the class for free (but I'll still get paid so it's a win/win)!

I've also been learning more about marketing and trying to upskill in that area so that I can reach more people and properly utilise all of the products and resources that I've already made. I'll let you know the results of what I learn once I've put it into practice 😊

For illustrating I've been enjoying drawing some simple things just for fun, and have also just started doing draft sketches for a fun picture book project that I think will be really cute!

I've been especially enjoying trying to incorporate more pencil texture into my art lately and have been using my 'Mimi Texture Medium' brush a lot for that (from my first brush pack) and also my 'Mimi Chunky Pencil' brush (from my second brush pack).

Free Time

We were actually pet-sitting in North London for most of this month, looking after a sweet cat. It was nice to have a pet around and we really enjoyed looking after them while their owners were away!

Now we're in the countryside (which is much more our thing than the big city), but while we were in London we got to visit some more of the galleries which was nice. 

I prefer being in the countryside because I can go for a short walk and quickly be surrounded by trees and flowers, and it's so much quieter. Plus there are lots of blackberries at the moment so I've been picking some to make crumbles with!

So for now you'll mostly find me happily drawing indoors, writing scripts for videos and going for walks in the countryside 😊🌷✨
