Mimi's Arty Advent Calendar - Dec 17th! (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone, it's December 17th (already?!) so I have another advent calendar gift for you!
I want to show you how to design your own snowflakes!
I already shared some snowflake stamp brushes earlier in the month but they're fun to design from scratch so you also might enjoy making your own ❄️
Here are some small breakdowns showing how I designed these examples
The first snowflake is really simple!
1. Start by drawing three long lines intersecting, so that you have six stems coming from the middle point.2. Draw a simple design on your first stem, so for this one I've drawn some lines pointing toward the centre of varying lengths. Try to keep the design on the stem symmetrical!3. Then repeat that design on the other five stems.
The second snowflake is just slightly more complex.
1. Start again with three long lines that intersect in the middle, but this time erase a small area in the centre and draw a circle the connect the six stems.2. Then draw a design on the top three stems. I like to keep them similar but might include some small differences.3. Now mirror the design of the three top stems on the bottom three.
And the third example is the most complex of the three.
1. Start once more with three intesecting lines.2. Design the top stem in a similar way to the first snowflake we drew, but this time let the lowest lines intersect with the stems next to it.3. Repeat that same design for the whole snowflake.4. Then add some small lines and dashes to add some more decoration!
There are lots of different ways to draw snowflakes so have fun experimenting with different patterns! 😊❄️✨
