Rio Mendoza

I've never seen this movie but I heard it's pretty good. I'll have to watch it right now. Thank you guys. That's very rare that i find a movie I haven't seen

Davey11

F#*K YEAH!

Darth Brooks

Yay movie night! I've only ever seen this once so I don't really remember anything about it so time for a refresher. Gonna dive in later tonight, hope everyone is well TGIF and ✌❤ A&B fam! P.S. can we get Man of Steel in the future? Hankering for a rewatch but would love a reaction.

Jesse Wilson

I've always enjoyed this movie though it has dimmed after watching a few vids on just how unrealistic the portrayal of the indigenous people is.

Patty Estrada

Ooohh perfect for a Friday after work! Love this movie (yes, perhaps the depiction of the indigenous people is not 100% accurate, but when is Hollywood ever really accurate). Also, the casting of indigenous actors was great.

Davey11

Apocalypse Now is a movie I would love to see you guys react to. It is bonkers

Davey11

Mel Gibson directed this movie btw, he also directed Hacksaw Ridge too

Bill B.

YES! love this movie!!!

Josh

Great movie, but they seem wayyy more Aztec than Mayan. By the way they dress, and ritual sacrifices. Mayans didn't rip out the hearts of their victims...the Aztecs did by mass sacrifice. Mayans mostly chopped ur head off, or tied u to a post and shoot arrows at u. Also Mayans were hella civilized. You couldn't go a couple miles in Mexico or Central America without running into a Mayan City. So the fact they're tribe never seen or heard of a Mayan City until that 1, sounds crazy

Josh

I always wondered how the little girl had smallpox? Mayans didn't know wtf a smallpox was until the Spanish showed up, and we see that happen at the end of the movie.

Bonnie Smith

Oh man, you have to watch Rapa Nui! So good. I've never seen this one so looking forward to it. Thank you for watching such a wide range of genres / movie types!

Bonnie Smith

Okay, I'm back.. I definitely remember seeing this one now with that opening LOL Traumatized as a kid seeing that animal panic and killed. Traumatized now being a vegetarian/some vegan. haha Great movie.

Kyndu

Great film! Great reaction! Mayans, Smallpox, Europeans... what a week!!! This is a foreign language movie that subtitles weren’t really necessary to understand exactly what’s going on.

Justin Freeman

No way I'm watching this tonight! Maybe tomorrow but I just can't right now

Mister Lou

this movie did such a great job with the casting, a full cast of probably first time Indigenous actors and they all killed it! Jaguar Paw, his whole clan and family. and even the "villains" really did their job at making you hate them and their actions.

Bill B.

There’s gonna be some haters out there about historical accuracy. BRAVEHEART wasn’t historically accurate but it’s one of the greatest movies ever, it captured the spirit of Scottish independence. Apocalypto, Mel Gibson pretty much swapped the Mayans for the Aztecs. The reason is that in Mexico and Central America there are a lot more indigenous people who speak Mayan than those who can speak Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs, or Properly, the Mexica. But at its core this is an amazing movie showing the truth about human brutality and bravery and how a hero will do everything and anything to save his family. A truly human story. For anyone interested in the history of human sacrifice in Mexico and Mesoamerica, I highly recommend two podcasts. University of California (I forget the campus) Professor Daniele Bolleli “History on Fire” - 4 part series “thenConquest of Mexico”… early episodes focus on the religious beliefs there, the human sacrifice, the flaying of skin…. “The Rest is History” by Dominic Sandbrook (University professor in England ) and Tom Holland (not Spider-Man but British author of history) 8-part series called “The Fall of the Aztecs”. All free on podcast apps. Excellent way to educate yourself and not leave yourself in the dark thinking Neil Young’s song (great song, awful history) “Cortez the Killer” is your guide.

A Panther is a black Jaguar or black leopard, it's not actually a species of cat

TinCan Cosmanaut

I'm 31m in. Asia what are you looking at down there, Subtitles? does your big screen not have them?

TinCan Cosmanaut

Could be the first time Jaguar saw the Spanish but another small unknown tribe already encountered them earlier.

Michael King

Sorry but there’s a difference. Jaguar is North American my dude🤷‍♂️ Leopard is African, what? It’s this whole weird thing. Panther is part of that.

Davey11

Are you high? It's hard trying to decipher what you're trying to say. Jaguars are from south and central America. Dingus 😂

Tek

Another Mel Gibson movie you should watch, being that Easter is coming up..."The Passion of the Christ"

Bonnie Smith

Alright, me again lol Just finished watching the entire thing. I dont think I've ever seen either of you so tense watching a movie the whole way through haha Great reaction

Robert

Mel Gibson directed this one, Hollywood basically banned it because it wasnt politically correct, but you can't stop ol' mel the wild australian. This movie is interesting... someone told me about it and I watched it and was pretty shocked. I think he chose to do it to speak about the human condition in more ancient times and to highlight that to a modern world. In a way it shows us where human come from and how they thought and that we are not so far removed.

Michael White

Have you considered to add anime to your reactions?

Melissa Perez

Back in my college days (2007) I had no cable only a dvd player and this movie, I rewatched it over and over bc it was all we had 😆 glad we have subscription channels now

Awilda Luciano

This made my day. Long overdue, thanks guys☺️

Amber Yousef

First time I watched this was in my 2nd year of college English. We watched it during class. The part that stood out to me the most was when Janguar Paw was running to evade the arrows to get to the corn field. I remembered that vividly. Great movie and great reaction!

Rich

How do I join the Discord?

Rich

Thanks, guys :)

Syl

One of my favorite movies... amazing ♥

Karim

Powerful film.

Beebel bob

Did you realize that the “bad guy captain” was the same actor that was Alejandro’s friend at the water cooler in Sicario?

Sometimes

Great movie! Thanks a bunch :)

Sydney Hixon

So glad you guys finally watched this film. Panthers are just black cats , they’re typically leopards or jaguars though technically any big cat can be born with that mutation.

Dan Gershgol

Very interesting and intense movie. 10,000 BC is another one to check out if you like this.

Beebel bob

Oh hey also the sun got so bright on y’all at times I thought it was the Second Coming at times. Lol

Kevin

"dats dat daaamn c.c...." 🤣🤣🤣 #proudtobenativeamerican

Scoobay

I watched this when I was really young and it had just came out, I forgot how good it was. Still holds up. I could see the stress in Asia’s face at parts 😂 super intense movie

Scoobay

There’s a bunch of stuff that doesn’t make sense in the movie but it doesn’t even matter. How the hell did the crowd hear dude at the top of the sacrificial temple, or even when jaguar paw was shouting from at the bottom of a waterfall. Mel took some liberties to tell the story how he wanted and I didn’t mind it.

SixEight Guy

This movie doesn't get the love that it deserves. Brilliantly acted and directed.

Rose Dallman

Just think how difficult life was back then. Especially between the Mayans and the Aztecs. Sacrifice has been prominent in most early religions, especially human sacrifice given what archaeologists find when they dig. Plus enslaving people from other tribes to do work like building pyramids, etcetera.

Hollywood70

Behold, The Man Jaguar reborn....as Jaguar Paw climbs out the quicksand pit and theyre stopped in their tracks...seeing him for the Hornets nest toss.... The sick lil beautiful girl with the peircing eyes that foresaw him as that ...after stating that they feared her...and should ...then asking if they wanted to know how they died... screamed that day would become night and the man Jaguar would rise....their kingdom to fall with the arrival of the conquistadors...crusaders...Pince De Leon era

Stan Ross

Well what do you know…. It’s damn Christopher Columbus lol🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 BJ crazy

Jesse

ApocalyptYo!!! I’m in.👍☮️💙

Y'Manni

Yall faces were soo funny! Yall were so disturbed when they were sacrificing them 😂😂😂. This is my favorite movie. Thank you for finally reacting to it!

Saints_Madness

Very entertaining when you watch some hidden gems.

J.O

For some reason the vimeo link isn’t working when I press on it. Can somebody drop the link in here please?

Dan Gonya

Panthers are black jaguars or leopards. When you look at them up close, they still have all the cool markings and stuff. So, in this Central/South American setting, it's definitely a jaguar. I know it's a terrible idea for regular people to own wild animals...but I still want to raise a black jaguar from a baby and roll the dice. If it grows up and kills me...well, I guess I had it coming. 😂

Dan Gonya

I was literally waiting the whole movie for Chekhov's punji trap to come into play, but Columbus -ex machina was pretty ridiculous.

James C

After I watched this I thought, what planet is this?? Think about this, The Mayan civilization lasted about 5,000 years. On planet Earth.. This place called Earth. The Mayan’s sacrificed more people in 2,500 years than the total population of America today… All this happened on planet Earth..
