Stacey

What about Bob is so good

Saints_Madness

That really fluctuates, because when they are released its dope at that time then another is released and that one is awesome. For instance, Dark Knight was one, Then Fury, then when Ong Bak came out that was dope. Cool hand Luke then its High Plains drifter. Theres never just one

Stacey

The Irishman is a great movie. IMO one of the best in its genre.

Shonaya Bellamy

Ray!!! Jamie Foxx earned every piece of that Oscar! Honestly, everyone in the movie deserved an Oscar! Still the best biopic I've ever seen!!!

Raider Ron

Serpico,Black Sunday,Cannonball Run

Stacey

Casino Royale 🙌💜

Eric Barner

Bad News Bears with Billy Bob Thornton!

Shonaya Bellamy

Honestly, Love Jones. As a true black creative, the way that movie shined a light on the black artist of the world and our spaces, was masterful! The cinematography and the way it pulled Chicago to the forefront of black culture. The way the soundtrack blends jazz & neo-soul in a way that transports you right back to the essence of the 90s as soon as the movie starts and "Hopeless" by Dionne Farris plays! The realness in the writing of the script. Just top teir in every way!

Colin Kato

Once We’re Warriors, Let Him Go, The Game, Nacho Libre, The Game, Harlem Nights

Von

A Quiet Place The others What’s eating Gilbert Grape

Stacey

Yes!!! Another Serpico recommendation 💜

Rio Mendoza

True Romance is all I will ask you 2 to watch. It's one of my favorite films and know you guys will love it. It's written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott, Ridley Scott's brother. And it also takes place in my hometown of Detroit. Well some of it anyway. Lots of good suggestions from lots of good people. It's going to be a hard choice

Shaggit

Shawshank Redemption is clearly one of the best movies out there. I don't think many would disagree with me. As for favorite? Donnie Darko is one of mine. There are so many others to list but yeah. :-D

I like the way you phrased the question. I understood the assignment. I think about that difference. The BEST movie, might not be a FAVORITE movie. Same holds true with songs, artists, actors, singers, etc... Personally, I think some of the best movies ever made are The Apartment/Shirley MacLaine, Jack Lemmon. Splendor in the Grass/Warren Beatty, Natalie Wood. Days of Wine and Roses/Jack Lemmon, Lee Remmick. The Godfather group of films. The Deer Hunter/Meryl Strerp/Robert DeNiro. A Time to Kill/Samuel L Jackson, Matthew McConaughey. Legends of The Fall/Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt, Julia Ormond. And IMO...Sophie's Choice BEST FILM EVER MADE -Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline. My FAVORITE movies certainly include some of the above, namely A Time to Kill (from start to finish, one if the most emotionally powerful films Ive seen. The Apartment, Legends and Sophie's Choice. But a few of my other favorite of all time films are Notes on a Scandal, Fracture, American Beauty, Benjamin Button. Hidden Figures. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Hours. Greenbook.

Deep Dives

I love that movie and it mirrors Eyes Wide Shut in a surreal way and with iconic directors!

Bill B.

Drama/action/love story: THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS (please I’ve been asking this for years now!!) 😘 also Oscar winning soundtrack. Inspired me to learn guitar. Comedy: “What About Bob?” (Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss, you will love it!!!!!) same sort of vibe as Trains Plains and Automobiles but funnier!!

Bill B.

ARRIVAL is amazing!

Katie Jackson

There's quite a few that have already been recommended that are really good, so I'll try to think of some different one's: *Nick Of Time (Thriller) *Now And Then (Coming Of Age) *Dark Skies (Thriller/Suspense) *Double Jeopardy (Thriller) *Sleeping With The Enemy (Thriller) *Ransom (Thriller) *Indian Summer (Drama) *Secondhand Lions (Drama) *Take The Lead (Drama) *Little Giants (Family) *George Of The Jungle (Comedy) *The First Wives Club (Comedy/Drama) *Dave (Drama/Comedy) *The American President (Drama) *What's Love Got To Do With It (Drama) *The Preachers Wife (90's Christmas)

Bill B.

24 would be an awesome series!!!

Syl

American History X Schindlers List The green mile Cast away Kill Bill Bronson Lord of the Rings Pulp Fiction The last Samurai Gran Torino Shutter Island

Bill B.

Hoping you will watch House of the Dragon for the next tv series, but if not, 24 is freaking amazing!!! I think both should be put up in the next poll.

Bill B.

YES! What About Bob one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen! Been asking for this one for a while! “Baby stepping down the stairs… success!”

Bill B.

To Kill a Mockingbird, one of the greatest films ever!

Bill B.

One of the best performances by Daniel Day-Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio combined. Amazing film!

Bill B.

I teach high school Linguistics and I show this to my students , they are just blown away. Amazing film!

Rebecca Karsner

Yes!!!!! Some awesome picks!! I would love them to go down the Kevin Smith universe.. Did you like Clerks 3? If you saw it that is... it had no right to make me cry like it did!! Lolol

Bill B.

I’d love to see the Hobbit but have to be honest, I teach American history in high school, JFK is well produced and acted but gets SO MUCH WRONG in the historical facts.

I'm Batman

100%, the scene of Bill talking to Amsterdam about his dad, hands down one of my favorite scenes in all of cinema

Bill B.

Is this the one with Tim Burton? Such an underrated and funny film!

Bill B.

I know there are other Last of the Mohicans fans out there, please show your support! IMO best movie of all time.

kOLa

Devil advocate, children of men, true romance, fury, the game, seven, the gentlemen.

Tony Uthe

Daredevil ( marvel series) (disney+) The punisher (marvel series) Luke Cage ( marvel series) Bram Stokers Dracula Dog Soldiers Baseket Ball

AussieJojo

Double jeopardy and Sleeping with the Enemy are brilliant.

Darth Brooks

I really liked Clerks 3 and his new 4:30 Movie but yeah I got a little teary eyed with Clerks 3. Seeing as Dante is based off Kevin and Randall was based off his best friend growing up Bryan Johnson it hit hard. If you haven't Bryan Johnson and Walt Flanagan (Egg Man in Clerks) along with Q from Impractical Jokers do a podcast called Tell Em Steve Dave for the last 15 years. I listen to it daily even on repeat lol check it out some time Kevin was on several of the early episodes as were they on Smodcast.

Surya

Imma divide this into animation and live action since I don't know what you're open to watch more Animation: Rango The Adventures of Tintin (2011) Redline (2009) wild robot(recent) Spider-Man: Into/Across the Spider-Verse(recent) Live Action: The Good The Bad The weird The Gentlemen Hot Fuzz Dredd Knives Out Minority Report Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day In order from personal preference, but the top movie for each category i go out of my way to show it to friends. Every single person Ive shown it to has liked these 2 movies so far

Debbie Green

American Sniper Cold Mountain Ghosts of Mississippi ( true story of the assignation of Medgar Evans) Con Air Jurassic Park

Ladybutterfly23

Sling Blade The Bone Collector A River Runs Through It Higher Learning - This one might not be YouTube safe, commentators please let me know, it’s with Omar Epps, Tyra Banks, Ice Cube. Some heavy actors are in this including Lawrence fishburn. I love films that make a person think deeper than the surface level that awaken one’s subconsciousness. A River Runs through it - have tissues ready - is not like the others I mentioned it is one of the best films I have seen. Some of the other commentators have put most of the golden films so I won’t repeat.

"A guid to recognizing your saints" "My girl" "half Nelson" "Stay" "How to be" "16 blocks" "My best friends wedding" "Frances Ha" ..just to name a few. Sometimes trailers are small works of art.

"Midnight Express"-This movie is based on a true story about an American college student who is caught smuggling drugs out of Turkey and thrown into a brutal prison. Would make anyone think twice about smuggling in a foreign country! You feel the torture and the desperation to get out. Incredible script by Oliver Stone. Amazing performances from Sir John Hurt and Brad Davis. "To Sir with Love"-it is a classic starring Sidney Poitier as a teacher in the slums of London's East End. His classroom is mostly troublemakers who were rejected from other schools for their behavior. It's compelling because of Sidney Poitier's outstanding performance and what he manages to accomplish in the movie.

Richard Zinns

I still tend to regard Citizen Kane (1941) as the very best work of filmmaking ever. My major favorites, apart from that, are Casablanca (1942), My Fair Lady (1964), and Chinatown (1974).

Tek

Midnight Express is fantastic, one of my favorites!

Carol Rocha

- Best Movie - Toss-up between remake of "The Ladykillers" 2004, "Tropic Thunder" 2008, "From Dusk Till Dawn" 1996 and "Four Rooms" 1995 // Because all have an all-star cast, great plot twists and clever writing // - Favourite Movie - "Thursday" 1998 (Aaron Eckhart and Thomas Jane) // Because it's my first Tarantino styled film before discovering Quentin's movies // ** I just have to include "The Boondock Saints" in my favourites too **

Backdraft (1991) starring Kurt Russell, Billy Baldwin, and Robert De Niro. Two brother Firefighters, who don't get along, have to work together to catch an arsonist! Ron Howard directed it and he insisted on using real fire. That could never be done, today. Kurt almost died making this film! Ron Howard hired actors who were real IAFF career Firefighters, along with Firefighters and Officers to consult and keep everything as real as possible! My husband is an IAFF career Firefighter/EMT, and I'm also an EMT. Other Firefighter movies pale in comparison to this one. This is Kurt's best movie, in my opinion! They did it right with this movie. Ron Howard truly captured the heart and soul of these firefighters. It's not what they are, it's who they are!

fire12wife

The Family Stone (2005) starring Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, Claire Danes, Diane Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Craig T. Nelson, Elizabeth Reaser, and Ty Giordano! An uptight, liberal businesswoman accompanies her boyfriend to his eccentric and outgoing family's annual Christmas celebration and finds that she is a fish out of water in their free-spirited way of life! A fantastic all-star cast in a hysterical movie! It's a Christmas must-see!!!

fire12wife

Blast From the Past (1999) starring Brendan Fraser, Alicia Silverstone, Sissy Spacek, and Christopher Walken! A naive man comes out into the world after being born in a nuclear fallout shelter and living his whole 35-year life underground! Love this movie so much, and they're working on a sequel to it, now!

Annette

So true LOVE this movie. cannot stop watching it. its a very fun fantastic movie.

Annette

Love this movie was very interesting how many stories came up. It really is a MUST SEE!!!!

fire12wife

One of my top favorites for sure!

WildManeWhisper

Wow. A hard question to answer for me! One of my all-time favorites is the original Picnic at Hanging Rock directed by Peter Weir. But other than that, I love screwball comedies like the Odd Couple with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, Airplane, and The Jerk. On a creepier note, Session 9 and The Awakening are great psychological thriller/horror movies that make you think about possible subplots!

Jason Fulkerson

There are so many movies that I love. One of the best movies I have ever seen is called Life as a House

fire12wife

That Thing You Do! (1996) Tom Hanks wrote this one and it was his first time directing a film. He also starred in it, too! It also stars Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler, Steve Zahn, Ethan Embry, and Johnathan Schaech. A local Pennsylvania band scores a one-hit wonder in 1964 and rides the star-making machinery as long as they can, with lots of help from their manager. This movie is such a family favorite! We love all the actors, the storyline, and all the music! Would LOVE to see a sequel to this one!

spcremm

Dune part 1 and Dune part 2 the story is from a 1960s novel, the cast and soundtrack A +++++ P.S people say dune ripped off star wars, but it was the other way around

spcremm

This is not movie related but music related ( Buckingham Nicks) is an Album pre-Fleetwood mac

Chris Thomas

Since you’ve already seen aliens with Sigourney Weaver, working girl with Harrison Ford Sigourney Weaver is fantastic and so is fatal attraction with Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. They rank right up there as some of the best Hollywood had to offer at that time for me…

Daylight (1996) with Sylvester Stallone is a really underated movie. It was a pretty big deal in the 90s but reactors seem to not react to it. Some of my other favourites are Blue Ruin and also Green Room. Bone Tomahawk is also amazing. Mortal (2020) is also underated AF. Life (2017) is one of the better sci fi movies
