Jay Rivera

It feels like when you switch party’s on election night lol like everything coming in is fantastic and it feels like a fresh vibe here. Thank you very much to the VIP folk, I’m working hard to be like you when I grow up but until then someone please high up in office, request a brand new movie released from this year to rock everyone’s world. Do “Strange Darling” or The Substance” VIP’s…. MAKE HISTORY! lol 😂

Jay Rivera

Side note I’ve never seen “Contact” but I’ve always felt right when I’ve said this feels like a way more spiritually conscious and expanded version of a film like that. Someone help! lol

Jay Rivera

WHATDYA HEAR? WHATDYA SAY?

Aaron Barlow

You're right Asia, someone IS watching you through the window at night. I'm sorry about that, I try to be as quiet as possible and wear a tree costume so neighbours don't call the cops.

Bill B.

I LOVE this film! I show it to my students in Linguistics class every year! She is a linguist, which is the scientific study of language. The premise of this film is based on a theory called Linguistic Determinism or the “strong” Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, which most linguists reject in HUMAN language but it makes for one hell of a film, perfect for something with aliens!

Tek

Everest, Drive, Arrival...im loving it!

Bill B.

Asia and BJ, this is one of those you’re going to go back and rewatch once you’ve unraveled the mystery at the end, you’ll see the beginning and middle of the film is in a whole new light.

Ryan Martin

Asia had it right, Louise didn’t have any kids before meeting Ian. BJ you confused her!

Carol Rocha

“Frequency” is a great one!

Carol Rocha

The audio was cutting out on mine. Maybe it will clear up

Brian M.

They said when you learn the alien language you experience time differently, all her "memories" are actually her future.

Rockstar

The best movie ever made.

Bill B.

Special moments 1:29:10 - when you can tell that Asia started to figure it out! 1:36:40 - Asia you got it and were not way wrong, you were way right!!! 1:52:25 final confirmation, “I should have said it!” 🙂 That was so cool to watch! Outro: Asia don’t doubt yourself, BJ didn’t get it. All of those visions of the kid are her and Ian’s kid Hannah who is born in the future. Louise understands non-linear language and that rewired her brain so she could think in a way where there is no past/present/future. That’s why she could see the future of their child Hannah. Ian left her because eventually Louise spilled the beans and told Ian that their daughter was going to die of a rare disease. Asia your instincts are right. 💯

Aaron Barlow

The bird in the cage is the classic 'canary in the coal mine'. Miners used to bring down canaries, as when there's a pocket of toxic gases in the mine the canary dies first , alerting the miners. So the bird here is meant to warn them if oxygen depletes dangerously or toxic gases are present.

winn theriot

It won't play for me, says something went wrong.

asiaandbj

😆😆 omg! This made me LOL!!

asiaandbj

Hi Carol.. Let me know if you continue to have issues. I’ll repost it if needed.

asiaandbj

Ohhh!! Yes!! I should have said what I was thinking… this was such a great movie! I really enjoyed the mystery of it as well!! Definitely worth rewatching it … and I am!

asiaandbj

We hope you had a wonderful trip. We are praying for your safe travels home.

asiaandbj

Ahhh!! I initially thought it was a “peace” gesture. But That Makes perfect sense!

Bill B.

Awesome…. It makes SO much more sense on a second watch, and makes the movie even better! I knew you knew it… but also yeah it’s a crazy theory so I get why you held back a bit! When I show this to my students in Linguistics class I’m always glancing at their faces to see who figures it out and when. It’s an amazing experience!

asiaandbj

It was so good! Please Get home safe and sound! ❤️❤️

Bill B.

I saw this comment and then a few mins later BJ completed the Fugees lyrics, “I’m gonna find you….” lol made me think of this and had a good laugh,

Von

Those are NOT two different children. The alien language Louise learns allows her to perceive time non-linearly, meaning she’s seeing future events as if they already happened. The little girl she keeps seeing IS NOT a memory of her past daughter, but a glimpse of the daughter she will have in the future with Ian. The more Louise learns the language the better she become as at perceiving her life all at once. Before the aliens arrived she wasn't married nor did she have a child yet. Those clips of her with a kid that eventually dies at the very start of the film hadn't happened yet, that was the future. Ian left Louise and his daughter because Louise decided to marry him and have a child with him even though she knew their daughter would die young. These are the facts. The message regarding language may be left up to interpretation but there was only one kid who is Hannah and one husband that is Ian. That's why we were never shown the father till the end of the film.

Aaron Barlow

So sad that she saw her daughter was going to die as a teen from a rare disease and she still went ahead and had her. It makes me wonder if it was a single predestined, unchangeable timeline, which means that she was always going to have her no matter what, and she was always going to meet the aliens and gain foreknowledge. The single timeline theory means that knowledge of the future is part of creating the future and the future cannot be changed.

Zach P

Good film! Are you guys going to do the 3rd Hangover movie?

Another great Jeremy Renner movie is Wind River. It's written by Taylor Sheridan who played Deputy Hale in Sons of Anarchy. He is also the writer of Hell or High Water, Yellowstone, Sicario, Landman, Tulsa King and many others.

Dallas Adams

Basically, after Louise figures out how to read the language she can see events in her future. Hannah is her daughter from the future that she has with Ian. Louise had Hannah without telling Ian that she was going to eventually die as a teenager from the disease so that's why Ian gets upset and divorces Louise. He is mad that he didn't have input on having a child that he knew was going to die. That's why Hannah says her dad doesn't look at her the same, because he knows she dies young. Still not clear on how Earth will save the aliens in 3,000 years but I believe the aliens knew that we would destroy each other if all the countries couldn't come together peacefully.

🖤Bonita☆

Ooh! I've been sleeping lol. I'll check it out!

Carol Rocha

Asia, I am still having a problem with your videos freezing up; and I’m not having any problems with other videos. This has got me stumped. Yall or anyone tech-savvy have an answer for me? Thanks guys!! ❤️

Carol Rocha

Yes, ASIA, it IS Hannah all the time. Remember she asked her husband (later in the future, Ian) if he could see into the future would he want to know what happens. He said no. But then later (in the future she had seen) he got mad bc she hadn’t told him. It seems to me that I saw this movie years ago but didn’t watch it completely. Great movie! I did mention earlier about problems with the video, and I see there are some more people having issues. I’ve just been watching on Patreon. Keeping my app updated. 👍🏼

Amber

This film is so beautiful it hurts a bit to breathe

I'm just Joe King

The Aliens exist in non linear time. Thats why their language is in a circle while our lives are linear we live from begining to end they live everything at once. like the 4th dimension being time. we live in the 3rd dimension we have time but we cant control it. if you live in 4 dimensions youc an control time within your lifespan which is why they just disapeared when they left. so the tool allowed her to control time so she started experiences time in a circle so to us she could see the future.

Max

This movie is so fun. It’s not until the reveal at the end do you realize what happened and when you look back it all makes sense. Louise was narrating the story via her book that she wrote after she learned their language. The first scene with the daughter is her acknowledging she knows her future without telling the audience so we assume it’s a flashback. She then tells the story of how she learned the language linearly they war we’re used to experiencing time. From the very beginning up until she starts learn the language there are no flashes to her daughter. It’s not until she starts to really learn their language that she starts seeing the visions that she chalks up to weird dreams. They become more frequent the more she learns and then finally she sees everything the way they do. Past present and future all at once. The heptapods knew abbot would die the entire time but they continued their mission and saved them from the explosion because teaching humans to unlock time would save their species in thousands of years which to then was more important than their individual lives. They understood that being the species together and having them work together was the only way.
