Bilbo had shown compassion to Gollum, by sparing his life, after getting the ring, because he saw how sad Gollum was after losing the ring. Since Bilbo recieved the ring without engaging in evil, the ring had no evil effect on Bilbo. The longer one wears the ring, the deeper in evil the wearer becomes. Bilbo only occasionally put on the ring for short periods, in order to avoid relatives he did not want to see, during the 60 years he had the ring, so the ring had a lot less effect on him, and that is why he could eventually give it up to Frodo.

ASIA and BJ, by NOT watching The Hobbit extended edition, you missed Gandalf, the dwarves, and Bilbo's interaction with Beorn the Skinchanger. You should watch the extended edition of this first movie. For the second and third The Hobbit movie, please watch and use the extended edition.

I’m so glad you did this one. These movies get a lot of hate but I still enjoy them. I do agree that you should do the extended versions for the second and third movies (if you do them) as it doesn’t add a ton more time but definitely fills some of the holes. Particularly the Battle of the Five Armies.

Hi guys, great reaction. I really hope you go for the extended editions for the next two movies. It's perfectly fine that you watched the theatrical edition of this one, but in the next ones you're missing out a bunch of cool stuff imo.

Gandalf was never betting against Bilbo, he was paid because he wagered Bilbo would show up. I've never heard of someone being paid for losing a bet. He showed up and Gandalf was paid, meaning Gandalf bet Bilbo would show up, not sure how you got that confused BJ lol.

I also love these. I think the hate comes from some of the more video game action sequences with the Misty mountains goblin fight and the barrel ride etc and the fact that a relatively short book was extended into a trilogy to milk as much money from it as possible (according to some). I love the fact that we had 3 movies to look forward to. The Hobbit was my favourite book as a kid.

I hate to be pedantic, but the only problem I ever had with fellowship of the ring was that Sting, Bilbo's sword that is handed down to Frodo, glows, and Glamdring: the Foe Hammer, the sword of Gandalf the Grey, a known sword of legend, absolutely made by the elves, and uncovered in the same trollhord where Bilbo found his sword and thorin found Ocrist, the Goblin Cleaver...do. they could have gone and fixed it and post, but they didn't, but Glamdring should absolutely glow when orcs or goblins are around, as should have Orcist. I'm glad to have gotten that off my chest. Also, everyone who has seen any of my posts would agree, I love being pedantic. 😂

What Gandalf noticed was that on the finger Bilbo was wearing the ring on had a clean area around the finger where the ring was but the rest of his hand was dirty. Kind of like a tan line.
