Rebecca Karsner

I'm finishing Dr Sleep right now and then diving in!!! 😁😁

Craig Anderson

I love how they had Elphaba be played by a black actress because of the social commentary of microaggressions, colorism, racial stereotypes, and racial profiling. And Ariana Grande playing the performative fake ally was really good. Idk if you realized that Elphaba has her powers activate when she's angry, which is a metaphor for how dark-skinned black people (mainly women) are deemed as aggressive and angry. A lot more people even gravitated to her sister instead of her because of her skin tone. Sorry for the long message. I just thought it was really creative and thoughtful that they were able to implement that message in a popular Broadway play like Wicked.

Nicole Sherlock

Was this yours? Thank you Rebecca!!!! 💛

Edgar Gonzalez

Oh man, I swear if this movie is bad like that snow-white remake, I'm done with disney...I'm only giving it a chance cause a lot of the Asia and BJ fam told me it was good.

Rebecca Karsner

Lmao!! BJ singing 7 Rings was not on my 2025 Bingo card!!!! Lmao!!! Also that Jimi Hendrix shirt is 🔥🔥🔥

Donna Bannister

OMGGG Rebecca!!! Thankyou for this one... absolutely LOVEEE this movie!!!

Rebecca Karsner

You are so welcome Donna!!! I know!! I loved this so much!!! Hope all is well with you!!! 😁❤️🫶

Kirsty McKay

Part 2 comes out about November 2025.

Kirsty McKay

Elphiba was played by Cynthia Erivo. Broadway star & a superstar.

Justin Freeman

Hey BJ wanna go shoot some pool while the ladies watch this isht?

Eamonn Locke

My guess was way off lol I'm not a big musical guy, but I'll give this a shot. The last musical I was coaxed into watching was 'The Greatest Showman' and I have to say, it was pretty damn good.

Rebecca Karsner

I absolutely loved this movie!! Lol.. omg so I originally had a different movie for this request but it's not on any streaming service they can use to watch it... which is so wild that you can even rent the movie I wanted them to see.. it's literally nowhere lol.. so i picked this instead! And OMG Doctor Sleep was excellent!! A few scenes freaked me out so bad and I thought Rebecca Ferguson was really good in this!! Also I've loved Jacob Tremblay since the movie Room and I was so surprised to see him in this.. and then even more shocked when I saw what they did to him! 😨 But Im definitely gonna watch that one again very soon!! 😁

Jay Rivera

I once worked on a set with Cynthia and when she left the area and we were breaking down her tent she was hanging in I took a mountain of these chocolate protein bars she had leftover. Good taste. *sings cynthia erivo high note*

Melissa

I love that Cynthia Erivo did all of that vocal work on Defying Gravity live while being swung around for the flying scenes. She’s just incredible.

Mikey

hearing BJ sing 7 rings was something I didn’t know I needed til now 🤣

David Croft-Ogawa

Really loved your reactions!! And great performances by BJ! 🙌🏼. I really enjoyed watching this movie with you guys. Fun fact: Inside Emerald City, there were two mature ladies trying to upstage one another as they sang. Well they were the original Elphaba and Glinda in the fist cast of the Broadway show, Wicked.

David Croft-Ogawa

You should add the Stephen King horror mini series, The Outsider, which stars Cynthia Erivo.

Eamonn Locke

Okay, that makes sense lol I thought maybe you switched your choice for some reason. That's so odd that it's not available anywhere. I always liked the movie 'Dutch' with Ed O'Neill and that's not available anywhere either. It's a bummer. I'm glad you liked Doctor Sleep! I was skeptical when I first heard it's announcement, I've always loved The Shining, but when I saw that Mike Flanagan was directing I was sold. Rebecca Ferguson was excellent in it. Fans were even talking about her getting her own story. I don't think I've seen Jacob Trembly in anything else. I'll have to check out Room. I've read that Flanagan will be doing his own spin on The Exorcist and Carrie. Can't wait to see his take on them.

Rebecca Karsner

Yea it's due to licensing and all these production companies making all these deals for contents.. it's pretty annoying lol.. I have never seen the Mike Flanigan shows but they are on my watch list for October! I will definitely be checking them out. Omg Room is such a great film but it's not a happy one. Brie Larson stars in at and actually won Best Actress at the Oscars for her performance. Her and Jacob were fantastic. He also was in the movie Good Boys.. idk if you've seen it but it's pretty hysterical lol!! And omg I knew he was doing Carrie but I didn't know about the Exorcist.. Will definitely be watching both

Rebecca Karsner

So glad you guys loved this!!! Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and Ariana Grande were both nominated for best actress and best supporting actress at the Oscars for their performances.. sadly they both lost. However they did win 2 Oscars for Production Design and Costume Design.. rightfully so! Lol.. Part 2 comes out this November!!! There's a new trailer out for it! Also you guys were already introduced to Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) she was in Bad Times at the El Royale and she sang in that as well!! Great reaction guys!! Can't wait for part ✌️

Rebecca Karsner

Also you guys should definitely react to Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo singing at the Oscars earlier this year! It was so beautiful 😍

Heather C.

THANK YOU Rebecca!!!! Truly. I’ve been wanting them to watch this since it came out. Finally. Oh thank you. Yes there are two parts. Part two comes out November of this year. They filmed both basically at the same time since they figured it would do well…and well is an understatement. This is a broadway play that is beyond popular. Loved this movie so much. So much depth. And emotions. And the singing. Ridiculous. This shows the true meaning of friendship. They both choose different paths and still supported each other anyways. The sang live the entire film. Plus they literally built the set. Planted about 9 million flowers. They are real. You should check out the bts for this. Insane as well at what they accomplished. Asia I need to hear you sing defying gravity. Or any of them. And BJ…WTH did you try and choke on us…damn. Bout had a heart attack. And didn’t know we’d get a show from you too. This is my number one reaction. Without a doubt. My life is now complete….thank you very much. Love you guys. I so needed this. Oh and yall killed me when yall said…”She doesn’t even go here!!!” I was dying. Ty.

Eamonn Locke

Exactly, it is annoying. You should, I think you'd like his Netflix miniseries shows. I had seen most of his movies years ago, not knowing who he was at the time. Flanagan made Oculus, Hush, Before I Wake, Ouija, and Gerald's Game. He really made a name for himself with The Haunting of Hill House. I'll check out Room. I don't mind a dramatic/sad movie. I didn't know Brie Larson won an Oscar for it. Then again, I didn't know she could sing either until I watched Scott Pilgrim vs. the World lol. No way, I had no idea he was in Good Boys! That movie is funny as hell. I saw it by chance when it first came out on streaming and it was hilarious!

Rebecca Karsner

I am definitely gonna check out his films! He seems to be on the verge of being "Goated" in the horror genre! Can't wait to see more of his stuff. Yea Brie was excellent in Room and Jacob too. And yea Jacob was the main boy in Good Boys whose dad had the drone lolol

The_Paige_Master

🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 loved the movie more than the broadway musical. Can’t wait for part two, to come out!!!

Heather C.

Oh and the voice of the goat is also the man who plays Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones!!! So cool. And of course our man Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park who plays the wizard. Hehe.

Donna Bannister

Awww absolutely AGREE!!!! I had tears watching them perform together at the Oscars.... it really was beautiful to see!!

Donna Bannister

Absolutely loved this musical💯🔥💯 Cynthia and Ariana both sang unbelievably AWESOME!!! Thanks to our fam VIP Rebecca 😍 Can't wait for part 2 ❤️❤️

Rebecca Karsner

Yes!! It truly was something special!! I am so excited as well for part 2! 😁

Ha'ane Rose 🦋

Hey yall, I’m new here and super excited to be on your Patreon now!! I love this reaction because Wicked is one of my favorite musicals, so thank you for reacting to it. A few things you need to know about Wicked is that it is a broadway production based off of a book series that were written for Elphaba and Glinda’s side of the story for what happens in Wizard of Oz (the books are actually really dark lol) But Wicked is a good representation of how the people in power will spin a story to their benefit and how they manipulate the people into supporting them. And I think its crazy that they dropped this in 2024(and 2025 for Part 2) with everything currently going on in our country. Elphaba is an outcast who grew up just wanting to be accepted and you see her get to a point where she decides that if doing the right thing makes her bad, shes gonna stick to doing whats right even if it ruins her reputation. Where Glinda grew up in high society where everyone around her were yes men and her image/being popular is a big deal to her, which is why you see everyone always praising her and acting like she could do no wrong.. But with Glinda you see her struggle at the end because she does crave that acceptance AND she cares so much about Elphaba, but she would rather play it safe and be loved. I think yall would even enjoy watching the behind the scenes for Wicked because its super cool, even if you don’t record and post it. Majority of the movie is practical effects except all the magical stuff and the animals of course lol and everyone did their own singing, dancing and stunts.. Also yall might not have noticed but the goat (Dr. Dillamond) is voiced by Peter Dinklage aka Tyrion Lannister from GOT hahah but I can’t wait for Part 2 to come out, it'll be released in November this year so just a few months away. Also if yall plan to watch another musical (besides Part 2 lol) I hope yall react to The Greatest Showman, its sooo good and the music is amazing!!

Josh

One single VIP movie request, and all of these ariana stans start coming out of the sewers lol

Caitlin O'Connell

You guys should check out “Don’t Look Up” ! ☄️🚀🙌

Dan Gonya

Oooo, I'll go look now!... Okay, wow, I had never heard Cynthia Erivo do that live before. Wow!

Dan Gonya

See, that's the one thing I didn't care about. It didn't matter what actress plays Elphaba. She's already green.

Dan Gonya

In case this didn't get brought up, The reason Elphaba shouldn't get wet is because in Wizard of Oz, Dorothy kills her with a bucket of water. Excellent adaptation of the Broadway show. Everything was beautiful and the performances were amazing! My one complaint, and this is gonna sound like I've been harping on this lately, but again, this was too damn long. They stretched part 1 longer than the entire Broadway show in including intermission. They also toyed with some of the pacing in the songs which undercut some of the original power and emotion of the pieces. Other than that, this movie was still a very enjoyable watch. Cynthia Erivo is an absolute power house!

Rebecca Karsner

Right?? She is fantastic! Have you seen Bad Times at the El Royale? Asia and Bj have reacted to it. Cynthia is in that film too and sings in it! She is so talented. She has won an Emmy, Grammy and Tony award.. Just needs an Oscar to be part of the "EGOT" club!! Hopefully she will win at the next Oscars for playing Elphaba in part 2. 🤞🤞

Dan Gershgol

I’ve been a big fan of the musical for a long time. They did a fantastic job with the movie. They did decide to split up the two acts into two movies. Cynthia Erivo is often a guest singer for the 4th of July concert or Memorial Day concert. You should listen to her sing Im here from the color purple on broadway. You can find it on YouTube. Part 2 comes out in November.

Alex

The 2 ladies singing outside in the city were Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, who were Glinda and Elphaba in the original stage show of Wicked.

Cynthia M Farrington

Elpheba is for L. Frank Baum, the author of the books of Oz. L. F. B. Written in 1900.

Cynthia M Farrington

Wonderful reaction! I could see that you both enjoyed the music, dancing and storylines. I’ve seen Wicked twice in the theater and read the book. I think they did a wonderful job making use of the room you have in a film versus a stage. I can hardly wait for part 2, which comes out next November.

Shenita

Awesome reaction you two .. first time I saw this is with you guys tonight it was really good I really like the good feeling and the message the songs were giving... . Ariana is 5 ft 2 and Cynthia's 5 ft 1 also they made part 2 right after they finished making this one and it will be coming out this November so that should be interesting... love you guys

Bonnie Smith

The way I clicked paused on something else I was watching (non channel related) to watch this was so fast haha

Sarah

So, if I haven’t watched a movie, I don’t watch the reaction. I broke that rule for the first time tonight. I have read the book. I don’t know if y’all are readers, but there is a whole series that I’m sure many people told you about so I don’t have to, if you are into that. I thought it was amazing!!! I’m with you guys in when is the next movie. And as always, Glad to watch movies with you both!

Bonnie Smith

I vote for more musicals pleeease! Or once a month or every other month =)

Bonnie Smith

Welcome to the fam! and oh my goodness.. I looove The Greatest Showman. I hope they watch it eventually!

Bonnie Smith

Yesss! Ive watched it so many times haha May watch it again tonight. =P

Ha'ane Rose 🦋

Thank you!! I’m excited to finally be here ☺️

Claudette

Agreed! I keep my fingers crossed for Little Shop of Horrors. Which one are you hoping for?

Heather C.

Agreed as well. I'm hoping for The Greatest Showman.

Arjan Pelle

I agree! Little Shop of Horrors, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story (any version), Oliver!, Sound of Music. All great musicals with different qualities.

girlygirl9983

Great reaction 👍 Yall are so funny at the beginning singing Ariana Grande lyrics 😂😂😂was not expecting that concert 🎵

Jeremy St.Cyr

If you thought that was good....I have news for you....somehow part 2 will be even better!!! Part 1 and Part 2 in November are prequels to part 3 The Wizard of Oz. The Previews are out for part 2 and I am sure we would love to see your reaction to that on the channel. In unrelated news....I enjoyed the pre-concert haha.

Antmovies

Because the Oscars are always wrong, I made up my own awards the last two years. I did my categories different and without gender. So I gave Ariana my Best Actor award out of everyone who acted in 2024. That's an iconic performance in my opinion. I hope you guys get to watch WICKED FOR GOOD in the theater. I can't stress the theater experience enough. Especially with the kids. 🙏🏼You can rewatch with us sing-along style. 🤗

Pam Ellis

I don't think anyone mentions it, but Ariana Grande is an actress Asia, I used to watch her on a couple of Nickelodeon shows before she became "Ariana Grande" the singer. So she is kind of a "seasoned" actress

Matt

rofl those bars at the end, i see you bj

Dani Nouveau Witch

I'll never skip an Asia & BJ intro again, that was way too entertaining! P.s. so glad you loved this epic movie

Clara Hines

They didn't change anything. This is the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West. It was her backstory, or at least part one.

Hannah Gs

Here are some fun facts about this movie: I'm obsessed! The author got her name as a pun on the original Wizard of Oz's author: his name was L Frank Baum. L Fa Ba. Pretty clever. Most of the sets are practical, the opening cliff and waterfall being CGI; they planted 9 million tulips for Munchkin Land for example! And a lot of the singing was done live on set, the main actors mostly and the ensemble plus studio recording for background. That,, plus every actor doing their own stunts, means Cynthia was singing live while being flung around on wires for Defying Gravity! A few cameos: the wise ones (Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth) are the original Broadway actresses for Glinda and Elphaba. The woman who says "he must be a wizard" is who wrote the book for the play and the screenplay for the movie. The man who says "the wizard will see you now" wrote the songs! The shows are crystal in the original story, MGM made them red for the original movie. They didn't make them red for this because Wicked is made by Universal and they do not have the rights for the ruby slippers haha

Allison Tucker

I love Wicked!! I’d be more than happy to send merch your way!!

Robin

I can’t wait to watch Part 2 with you guys! I loved this movie and your reaction was fantastic. Especially the surprise ending where you didn’t realize it was to be continued! Seriously I’ve watched this reaction with a couple of channels, yours was my absolute favorite!! I’ve already seen Wicked for Good, you’re gonna love it!!! 🥰

Robin

Yess more musicals, Mammia Mia, Chicago, Hairspray, Rent!!! Seven Brides for Seven Brothers!! Let’s do this!!!

Robin

Yep that was Peter Dinklage

Clara Hines

When are you going to see part two?

Diana McCall

You guys HAVE to watch Wicked For Good!!

NurseLo

We need you all to do part 2!! Plus more musicals are definitely needed on this channel the emotions in both of your eyes when a song starts is magical. I vote the Disney “newsies” musical with Jermey Jordan . Only because it’s amazing and based on real events… regardless we know you all love music and beginners know you reacted to songs before this. I need more of that. The Johnny cash movie ,excellent. Ray, (ray charles movie- Jamie Fox) excellent.
