'The Ref' (DarkComedy) with Denis Leary and 'The Long Kiss Goodnight' (Dark Comedy/Action) with Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson are two great movies for Christmas.

The term "Gremlin" was invented at the beginning of the 20th century especially popular during and after World War 2 to explain malfunctions in aircraft. It first arose in the RAF (Royal Air Force) and was used to describe a mischievous creature that would sabotage the aircraft. So when Mr Futterman was describing gremlins being sent over and inserted into different technologies thats what he was referencing.

There is a Gremlins 2, it takes place several years after the original but not on any particular holiday. Gremlins 3 just got greenlit and is set to come out November 2027.

Joe Dante is a seriously underrated director. He's one of the best with practical FX, from The Howling, one of the best werewolf movies ever, to this, Innerspace I think won awards and it's hilarious if you guys get a chance to watch it, Martin Short is so damn funny in that. Small Soldiers is also awesome. And The Burbs is just fun. He also directed one of the four vignettes in Twilight Zone the Movie, and he did great.

I love this movie and so do my kids but one thing I hate is when Kate says “that’s how i found out there was no Santa clause”. I always mute that part for the kids and tell them there’s a cuss word 😂😂

VW Beetle was the only car I ever had that caused no problems in winter because the engine was air cooled. It never 'froze up' like American cars.

You guys are too young to get all the references in this movie. Gremlins was a term invented to explain unexpected malfunctions in aircraft early in the 20th Century. In 1943 British author Roald Dahl wrote a children's book called The Gremlins which Disney planned to make into an animated film. They never made the film, but Warner Brothers made a few cartoons featuring gremlins, one of which, Falling Hare, starred Bugs Bunny. I remember seeing it on TV when I was a kid. The whole movie is a variation on the original Star Trek episode, The Trouble With Tribbles. There are so many things Spielberg took from old movies in his film that I gave up counting. Mrs. Deagle is an obvious clone of Miss Gulch from The Wizard of Oz. Spielberg really loves old movies.

Was a decision made? Idk where to find the results. I’m just wondering if they’re going to release those episodes and when. Sorry to distract from the Gremlins. All hail Gizmo!

Jeez, I havent seen this in forever. I didnt realize there was a cameo of 2 movies, the time machine and Lost in space in the flick. The time machine even disappeared. And yes there is a green light for the 3rd installment. Its in production now. A very classic movie and now that I watched it again, its a bit cheesy but I grew up with it. excellent reaction. Still waiting on the hobbit battle of 5 armies. You made it to desolation of Smug.

I noticed the cameos too, but also, and I couldn’t tell this for sure, but in that same sequence there was a woman with blonde curly hair sitting at a news desk. I thought maybe it was a nod to the Dee Wallace Stone transformation scene from The Howling. I could be wrong though

This movie, along with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was the reason the Motion Picture Association of America created the PG-13 rating. Also Asia wanted to know why the Gremlins looked different than the Mogwai. They started off as Mogwai but they transformed because they broke the most important rule of feeding them after midnight.
