I really loved this reaction Ash! Amazing job! This really made my Friday night. Thank you. I really love this movie and Denzel did such a brilliant job in this movie. I totally respect you defending Alonzo throughout the movie while realizing what he really was at the end. Alonzo was a narcissist and sociopath just justifying his actions to manipulate everyone around him to get his way. I think the only thing you were missing in this movie is context of being an American. The inspiration for Alonzo and his unit was pulled directly from the Rampart Scandal in the 90s in the LAPD where an anti-crime\gang unit used their unit to murder, rob, lie, and make a tremendous amount of money doing a huge amount of terrible things. I would recommend you looking into it. And it hasn't gone away.. the LASD have active gangs operating within the Sherriff's Dept doing whatever they want. While this is one of my personal favorite Denzel movie I would check out more Denzel movies directed by Tony Scott. Tony Scott was the director of Man on Fire and he used Denzel in a lot of his movies, all of which are really, really good.

I hear what you are saying. 99% of the movies out now are just shit. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. This movie is legendary.

Simple story. Simple premise. Complex, subtle themes and dialogue throughout, that takes a while to decipher. Takes multiple viewings. Denzel won the oscar of course, back in 2001.
