In the late summer of 2015, Sony published a second party horror game called Until Dawn. Developed by Supermassive and designed in the vein of a Quantic Dream title, the choice-based adventure found a more sizable audience upon release than PlayStation itself expected. But nearly a decade has since past, and with Sony now obsessed with cross-media synergy across its IP, an Until Dawn film is on the near-horizon. (Indeed, filming just wrapped.) This naturally leads us to a ground-up remake of Until Dawn for PS5, developed by a spin-off team called Ballistic Moon, itself founded by some ex-Supermassive devs. While the original ran on Killzone's Decima engine, the remake runs on Unreal Engine 5, and there are further changes afoot, too. How does this new-old project hold-up after all these years? Is it still fun to play? Do we recommend it to fans of the original and newcomers alike? Well, we've a lot to say about these subjects, and many others, too. So gear up for a scary Canadian winter, and come join us for a lengthy chat.

Renee-good-getting-slimed

Man, I get nobody else played the remake but I’d rather have just got no video than one with this guy in it

Steve Forgione

Feel like Radec should’ve been on this one, man lives and breathes PlayStation.

Addiholic

This will be a fun episode I'm sure but id love to see someone like Radec get looped in the future. Like you Colin hes a walking encyclopedia of playstation knowledge. Would have been a fun three man show!!!

NotSkyWalker

Radec got me interested in this; I reckoned initially it was a fairly uninspired remake

Mokey

Looking forward to this one after seeing all the Radec tweets for this game, hopefully in the future he can talk with the boys about PS goodness

Midnight

Radec would be a great guest. 616 however is a skip sorry.

Jack Doheny

I was hoping Radec would get to be on this one. I always see him tweet about this game and his love for it.

Fatsloth

I'm a 60fps snob as well but I'm surprised it's seen as such a big deal in a game with limited interactivity like Until Dawn

Mr. Weeb

I was interested in the remake, but based on Digital Foundry's analysis, it is a hard pass for now.

Dante B

Great guest

GaminGoob

616 was a fantastic guest! Thought the conversation was really cool despite having no interest in this game.

Michael Candelaria

Always good to see/hear Ian and Colin chop it up about stuff.

Tyler Kottmyer

It's funny that you two talk about Joker 2. My girl and I just watched it last night. There's one super late scene that could connect it to the wider batman universe, but that's really debatable

Robbie Agnew

I love how Colin is losing his mind over how they are treating this game 😆

Joseph Gedgaudas

Why does everyone keep mentioning this Radec person and hating on Ian? Did he send them all here? It's kinda weird

Scott LaFontaine

Ian you are the man. I discovered Colin a long ass time ago because our old mutual friend Cap McKay told me to watch Conversation with Corey. From there i discovered Colin, then Beyond. Eventually became a Kinda Funny patron now LSM. Anybody being negative is an ass hole. You are the man

Big Devin Energy

You’re so right Colin, I wanted to replay this game for spooky season and I hadn’t played it since release but I have it from PlayStation plus collection when PS5 released… but after hearing your feedback I just downloaded the PS4 version again and it’s still great looking and plays well. Really don’t understand the point of these half assed remakes for remake sake that suck.

Cornelius

I know this has nothing to do with until dawn. But I think joker 2 is an exact analogue of the last of us part 2, in that it's an unnecessary sequel to a beloved thing, that is actually very very good, but was panned by fans because they disagree with story beats. And I don't blame the creators for wanting to put out in the world what they actually intended to do for their first movie, because as Colin said it was liked by many people for the wrong reasons. You can like anything for whatever reason you want of course, but I don't blame the creator for wanting to make their story heard in the way it was intended. And dune is also an example of this, fans of the dune films are going to get very angry too if the next film in the series is adapted faithfully.

Big Fudge

I just realized Ian used to work at my local disc replay. lol that was a trip.
