We're back! 2024 is so last year; it's now time for us to dwell here in 2025... and perhaps even beyond. The holiday season was pretty quiet news-wise, but there were fairly substantial exceptions in the form of two lengthy interviews published by legendary Japanese games publication Famitsu, conducted with both of PlayStation's recently-installed co-CEOs. On the one hand, Hermen Hulst was peppered with questions about Helldivers 2 and Concord, the future of Sony's single-player initiatives, and whether PlayStation fans can expect more games to travel off-platform. On the other hand, Hideaki Nishino was prodded for answers on topics like the future of cloud gaming, the success of PS5 in the wake of PS4, and even when we might see a hypothetical PlayStation 6. Obviously, we're left with much to discuss. Other news of note includes another delay for Assassin's Creed: Shadows, early rumblings of a potential new emulation solution for PS3, compelling evidence of a forthcoming remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, a turned-down pitch for Dead Space 4, and much more. Then: Listener inquiries! Why were so many people convinced Black Myth: Wukong was a PS5 console-exclusive title? Is it necessary for a True Yakuza Fan to play all titles in the series? 10 years on, how has Colin enjoyed his decade of media independence? Can we convince one listener not to name his son Simon or Ronan, but Richter instead?

The PlayStation Pulse Explorer earbuds are amazing. Using the same Planar Magnetic Driver tech from Audeze & the Pulse Elite. You can dual pair at the same time BT & PS Link. Great battery life. It's kind of freeing using earbuds when playing games. I've dabbled in quality headphones & earbuds since I got the original Audeze Penrose S before PlayStation bought their headphone division.

@dustin The wireless earbuds are great for the price, I am a bit of an audio nerd and own many. They are actually a lossless wireless format developed by Sony, Bluetooth is lossy. They use planar drivers probably developed with Audeze. Planar in-ear true wireless lossless audio for 200 bucks IS NOT expensive. (They also have Bluetooth of course.. and multipoint but that’s a given nowadays) let me know if you have questions.

The older games are harder to get through but they’re all pretty fun in their own ways.

For Yazuka series I played like the 1/4 of Zero and then skipped to Like A Dragon, played Gaiden, and now on Infinite Wealth. Also beat side series Judgment. I never felt lost and immensely enjoy the series

I picked up the pulse explore earbuds for the portal when I got it. They’re the only way to get portal audio wirelessly, and that’s really the sole pro. I also love how you can get the usb dongle and Bluetooth audio simultaneously, but there are better options for it in terms of connectivity and sound quality. The buds sound noticeably, significantly worse than AirPod pros or Sony’s inzone line. The 2.4 ghz (dongle) signal will drop if you leave the room—one bud may drop even just by turning your head. I’m still happy to have wireless portal audio, and it’s nice to have another set of headphones for my OG non-Pro PS5 connected to a monitor without audio, but you need those more specific use-cases I think, and it’s still pricey for what you’re getting.

Anyone who complains about the pre recorded content is a shit head. Most creators don’t post anything at all during these weeks. As a food service worker I work more hours during the holidays and I’m eternally grateful to have Last Stand content to enjoy on those long shifts. I am sooooo thankful for all the hard work. Only thing I’m saying on this right now - how come one person writing in about the “culture war” and his opinion is being treated like he’s the majority or even if not the majority, a lot of people do not agree. Why is it always when gaming can add in extremist ideology from the left, everyone is just supposed to take it in stride and bend the knee, being ok with taking words from the real world like Male and Female out of games, but when there is push back, now all of a sudden, it’s too much complaining, it’s just trolls on the internet, “why do you care so much”. As Colin has said himself, this type of behavior always goes in one direction. I’ve given well thought out responses to these things recently, I’m not some troll. I’m not just going roll over and accept the same people saying there is negativity. Those same people, I’ve seen in this community, insult anyone who disagrees with their point of view

I think the Intergalactic Podcast got hated on because you guys basically created straw man arguments and basically discounted anyone who might have had a normal critique of the trailer. I think the character came off as arrogant and very similar to the snarky attitude in most media today. I think Naughty Dog creates great technical games and look forward to gameplay but don’t think the trailer was the greatest. Would like to see you address some of the concerns with a little more nuance to both sides or stay out of the culture war debates all together.

On Star Wars Outlaws, I'm playing it right now and i'm about 10 hours in and I gotta say, this game must have been an absolute mess at launch because what i'm playing now is incredibly enjoyable. It may not have the most revolutionary gameplay, but as a Star Wars game, it's awesome. The IP itself definitely helps to cover up some of the flaws but i'm having a great time zooming around infiltrating bases on my speeder. The Jabba's Palace mission is awesome.

Dustin- try not to let the negative comments get to you. Last week my big brother died after a very short, brutal stage four cancer battle. I spent the end of the year with a two hour round-trip to the hospital pretty frequently. Having steady last stand content to distract myself from the drive to try to hold it together really meant a lot. People don’t usually comment stuff like this on the daily. But we are out there.

There is an easy work around so you don't need a Bethesda account to play the 2 new Doom games. Just from system settings switch off your PS5 internet connection. Then boot up the doom game. Once booted up, you can switch on the online again.

I'm surprised no one here as mentioned Core Keeper. Fantastic game reminiscent of both Terraria and Stardew Valley. Beautiful pixel art and can be very cozy if you wish it to be. It's also available on all platforms.

RE: Pulse Ear Buds... Sound quality and customization is top-notch, but they have had a random disconnection issue since launch that has still not been resolved. I was hoping this issue would be fixed when paired with the PS5 Pro... but nope... still a problem.
