Moriarty x Jaffe: Great Expectations | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 439

Will Grand Theft Auto VI be the massive success everyone expects? Well, it better. With a budget almost certainly exceeding a billion dollars, and with thousands of people having worked on it over a decade, everyone's assumption should be that it's gonna be great. That's perfectly reasonable. But then again, there's always that lingering possibility that things could go very wrong, too. On today's episode of MxJ, we analyze GTAVI from multiple angles: Consumer cost, cultural relevance, market erosion, and much more. Other topics this week include the perplexing return of the once-storied publisher Acclaim, expectations for Death Stranding 2, the missed potential of Sony's cancelled Twisted Metal project, Discord's goal to go public, and so on. Plus: Tons of off-topic chatter. Enjoy, and be well!

I love these JaffexMoriarty episodes, especially when Jaffe hijacks the episode.

Patiently waiting for Part 2 of the tier list 🤞

To the topic of GTA and the inevitable controversy of topics used for comedic effect, I am (and can ONLY speak for myself) okay with touching on ANY topic, but I hope they handle it in a manner where there is a point to be made, within the chuckles, at the end of the day (Ala South Park), instead of it being from out of left field shock & awe (Ala Family Guy). Not praising/knocking either of these shows, enjoy what you like, just pointing out the differences in writing style and intent. If Saints Row ever comes back, give me the Family Guy/American Pie direct to DVD humor, for sure, because it fits… but not with GTA (imo).

“PC is really where you wanna be with this game” and yet PC is the platform that makes the least amount of revenue for GTAV, by far.

Colin, if Neil Druckman himself, the creator of what you yourself has said is the greatest game series of all time, invites you to the red carpet opening of the TLOU season 2 you drop everything and you go. I get it Im unbelievably introverted mostly all the time but there are times you just have to get over that and this is one of those times. For Neil to ask himself, I think, is an incredible symbol trust and friendship and you gotta be there for the homies. Also, at a certain point people will get the impression you just dont care and will stop asking and that my friend is a big L.

thats what happens when you give PC the port years late, and one day decide to add anti cheat that prevents steamdeck users from playing online. Maybe rockstar should grow a spine and show some respect to PC players and we might be more willing to give them money.

There really is nothing like being at home. I often go and hang out with friends and then I’m like, “I could be grinding for some monster parts right now”. Not that I dislike hanging with them but with discord or WhatsApp, you can talk with them all the time. I don’t know. Just another antisocial gooner.

Damn I relate to Jaffe so much with the “I’d rather make friends online than in person.” The idea of meeting anybody I’m a fan of IRL is no where in my mind

Tyler Lyle

These are always so good.

Just hearing the comments at the end here and I just have to say the KF community might be the most toxic community I’ve ever interacted with. During the last 3-4 game reviews I’ve watched that Greg has been apart of he gave a low score and complained about having to rush through the game and play it a way he didn’t like but still for some reason reviewed the game. On the subreddit I simply said oh maybe Greg shouldn’t be part of game reviews where he doesn’t have time to properly play the games. I then got down voted into oblivion, made fun of, and then banned from the sub Reddit.

ROME.

Can we get Jaffe to talk about the design of the Hades level/stage in the original GOW 😂

Tim explicitly said that if you’re a Trump voter, you’re not welcome at Kinda Funny. Fairly certain it was on Twitter.

I can’t seem to find sacred symbols+ on my apple podcast feed. Am I missing something?
