Hey Colin, at my walmart we have the same scenario, someone on the spectrum checking receipts. I would always try to be friendly and say have a good day and would be ignored blatantly. After a few times I realized that something was up, now I just let it be and go about my day, just saying I get it

Colin, I get what you mean…but I’d be careful in making statements like that about divorce . I have a complex relationship with both my parents , but my mom should have divorced my Dad sooner than she did. Dad was beating mom almost on a weekly/monthly basis, pull the knife on me a few times and just overall creates an envoirenment of anxiety that has truly fucked me up. You CANT just declare “divorce is wrong, figure it out “ in that manner. I get what you are saying, but the way you said it comes off rather ignorant of the realities of other people. My mom tried to “figure it out” for 10 more years and it wasn’t worth it. Now I have an array of mental health issues

I mean Colin is right. There are a handful of abusive situations in which divorce is merited, but outside of that it is so objectively terrible for children that it’s unbelievable. And yes, “figuring it out” is significantly less painful in 49/50 situations than actually getting divorced. So yes, figure it out. (I am a divorce attorney BTW so I think I have a pretty good reference point).
