Headshot Juggernaut

I got the Doom Collectors Edition and have been playing it since Friday. Gotta say I totally agree with Matty. Game is good but def a downgrade from the last two.

I’m kinda confused by the comment by Matty that nothing is happening on PS5 in August when talking about Gears of War. Mafia the Old Country is coming out early that month at the same price and is a brand new game and then we’re getting Metal Gear Solid Delta and Lost Soul Aside later in the month. I’ve never played Gears of War and the price tag for what it is along with the release window completely put me off.

Spam is already cooked. I also like it. I’ll take the Spam!

Birds Aren't Real

I love how Doom is so divisive. I also got my collectors edition in Friday and I feel like it's substantially better than Eternal, but right behind 2016.

Trials

Matty is a hater lol

In an apocalypse, I'm teaming up with Brad. THe guy that picks Spam over a 2 lb vat of nacho cheese is the guy that is surviving.

JS (clashclay)

As a Minnesotan I'm choosing the Spam!

PAX west/east has been dead since 2020 IMO. Covid helped kill it but it was the big publishers pulling out. Back in the day I got a demo of Last of Us from Neil Druckmann in a room with like 15 people. back then Sony, Nintendo and Xbox were there in full force. Now none of them go. Just go on youtube and look up PAX show floor tours from 2010-2015 then look up 2025. Its sad but its the end of an era. Like the last days of Blockbuster.

That Gears on PS5 listener response was CLASSIC! Raise your lighters, lol. 🔥 I wanted a trilogy, to be honest, but didn’t lose my $#!T over it being just 1. Happy to see Gears reach a new audience. … now, if Gears 2 hits PS5 without Horde mode, I will trade my lighter for a torch. 😉

Directional Joy

I find it interesting how similar the trajectory is (at least of the 1st & 2nd) of Gears of War & The Terminator. Both started more somber and horror influenced, while the sequel went full Hollywood (while somehow still gelling with the majority of the original audience). Highly recommend checking out Giant Bomb’s Terminator 1 vs. 2 conversation, on YT. Especially, in light of its recent independence. 🫡

I agree with you. I went to PAX East maybe 8 times. One year I remember a super cool Assassin's Creed Black Flag setup that you went into a little room decorated like a pirate ship and watched a scene from the game. They put in a lot of effort to make it feel so exciting to be there and be the first people to see it. The magic was lacking the last few years I went (2020 was the last one for me). -Micah

Bisexual Lighting Rigger

Micah you should do a PAX topic for Constellation. There were soo many crazy events over the years at PAX West when I went. Some highlights for me were the party's that were thrown by publishers and developers. Square Enix Final Fantasy party where they had a bunch of living room setups from the different generations. The Bioshock anniversary party which was in the old train station which they made it look like Rapture. But the best was the Dishonored 2 party down at the docks in Seattle. They hired actors to put on ARG to solve a mystery and win a Dishonored 2 themed Xbox or PS4. Good times...

Thanks for reading out & answering my question guys - another great episode!

Pretty much everything Matty likes about Eternal, is what I hate about it. I HATE the platforming, got so bored of the glory kills, and really hated the lack of ammo and need to do specific things to get specific drops. I am a classic Doom fan through and through, so dark ages sounds amazing. I just want guns, lots of ammo, and demons to just mow down. IMO, Eternal is the worst main line doom.

Stinkling

OH THANK GOD Dark Ages is nothing like Eternal? SOLD. Loved 2016, hated Eternal for exactly the reasons you stated. Puzzle platforming and low ammo in a doom game was L A M E.
