I agree with Chris. Doom Eternal’s hub world is lame.

Hating on 2014? Sunset overdrive is better than any game of the last 3 years

Muskrat Mike

I don’t get where they’re coming from saying Eternal wasn’t divisive. It’s one of my favorite games ever but it made a lot of changes from 2016 that tons of people didn’t like. Things like the bigger emphasis on story, forcing you into a specific play style, less of a horror vibe in the art style.

Zachary

That comment is goated!!! lol totally geared towards Chris haha

David Seger

Matty doesn't like games

Dante B

Half way through Doom and have never agreed with Matty more. Hes spot on.

SlickMick

I was so stoked to her this convo. Bummer. It sounds like matty really didnt like this game

AllTooEasy_

Mattys early access to games tends to throw off the cadence of what I like about last stand. I feel like he is having a foot in two world and as an audience member I don’t love it. Doom is a game I’m very much looking forward to and this was a massive wet blanket fest.

Guybrush Threepwood

I agree with the sentiment in general of just wanting to play the game on the "normal" release date and not have tons of stuff spoiled. I have intentionally avoided all trailers and stuff but i still know about a ton of details and cool-sounding stuff that I wish I didn't know about, but that's the era we are in now.

Dante B

They make it very easy for you guys to skip the entire section about Doom idk what else you’re looking for here

Evan Westendorf

Eternal was absolutely divicive. People had issue with the weapon swapping, reliance on specific strategies for specific enemies, and HUB world, which yinz noted as the big differences between Eternal and 2016. People still loved Eternal, but plenty of people thought 2016 was better.

An optimistic Bears fan

the world hub is weird and trash. I didn't mind the difficulty up to a point but there is a section like 75% into the game or you just bombarded with Marauders and a bunch of other b******* and it's cranked up way past where it had been the rest of the game and I just said f*** it after dying for like the 50th time other than that though I really love the game

Robbie Agnew

Games unreal, glad it got some attention

yoyojojomojo

So you're saying the only input they should give is positive?

Diddy’s Lube Guy

Titanfall, Destiny, South Park Stick of Truth, Shadow of Mordor, Wolfenstein The New Order, Far Cry 4, Infamous Second Son, Watch Dogs, Forza Horizon 2, Tales From The Borderlands, Child of Light, Mario Kart 8, Valiant Hearts, Divinity Original Sin

Bartevious

James can you give us stats on Chris’s use of “ostensibly” or Matty’s use of “if you will”

AllTooEasy_

No. Not what I’m saying. I’m saying his access to games early is different than most of last stand and rather than hearing about the experience people are having while playing the game at release as opposed to having blown through the campaign to meet an embargo is a different view point than I pay for access too

Daddy T

Oh fuck off

Walk Forward Cutscene

“Bigger emphasis on story.” You mean like in Doom 2016 when I was forced to stand there and watch while Samuel Hayden was monologuing? DOOM 2016 fans vastly misrepresent both DOOM 2016 and Eternal because the Doom guy punched some mission objectives, and that somehow negates the modern tropes that were also in 2016

Dougie

Every time I hear mattys whiny voice I expect a wet blanket fest. His game better be fucking amazing the way he complains about everything.

JR

Enjoy the stats James, keep it up

Matty, you were wondering about my final fantasy experience, we’re looking at the most recent releases (i’m a late comer). XV, FF Remake, Rebirth, XVI, loved them all. Rebirth one of my favourite games of all time. Chris, you nailed exactly what i’m looking for, that interactivity during the turns, think that’s why I love E33 so much because it gives me that Sekiro parrying interactivity. Brad funny you mentioned South Park, I loved the second one, really enjoyed it.

Bartevious

Dougie why you got beef with Matty bro 😂😂

Muskrat Mike

I mean I’m more of an eternal fan than 2016 but they’ve clearly been leaning more and more into the story with each game they release. I didn’t say 2016 had no story just that Eternal had a bigger emphasis. There’s third person cutscenes and shit whereas 2016 is entirely in first person. There’s definitely a handful of forced story moments in 2016 and I vividly remember being annoyed by having to listen to Hayden while he stands their talking during a few points but most of the story is told through the codex, not more direct story telling the way the two newer games are.

The Ghost of James Soler

Thanks! I’ll keep writing in until brad tells me to stop or the data gets redundant.

I gotta issue a stand down and SORT IT OUT to that dude calling Gears Tactics mid. Shit was great and better than 5
