Such A Beautiful Lie to Believe In | Sacred Symbols, Episode 359

PlayStation is booming, at least depending on how you look at things. On the one hand, Sony's annual financial results are incredibly strong: PlayStation drove more revenue last year than any gaming entity ever has in the entire history of the industry. Meanwhile, PS5 will surpass 80 million units sold soon, and has become the default console for most players this generation. But there's a downside; indeed, Sony is doing all of this damage with one hand tied behind its back, as major exclusive releases have slowed down to a trickle, while the level of behind-the-scenes mismanagement becomes ever-starker. As we were wrapping our episode up, word dropped that first party studio Haven lost its founder and biggest name, Jade Raymond, apparently after a tumultuous testing of Fairgames, boding poorly for the future of that product and team. Maybe this entire initiative was a bad idea, after all? Plus: Death Stranding 2 goes gold, Stellar Blade is coming to PC, rumors percolate about a Grand Theft Auto IV remaster, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Will Final Fantasy XVII be turn-based? What does the 11th hour saving of Giant Bomb mean for the future of games media? Could Game Pass' undeniable value proposition begin peeling away the Sony hardcore? Who should we cast Obesaga on, so that we can have an overweight cast member for representation's sake? Proof you can be rich while absolutely producing nothing for 10 years

Beef Burka

If Jade forms another studio, maybe she can call it "HAVEN'T"

Halph Pint

Colin sitll buying into al of Trumps chaotic and nonsensical tariff policy is just insufferable lol....thank God for Chris's rational take as usual....

Nathan Densley

I was punching the air when Colin said cumpass accidentally. Ladies and Gentlemen, WE GOT EM!

Bisexual Lighting Rigger

I think if you had to cast a spell and make someone on Last Stand fat, Matty would be the most hilarious. Just imagining a big fat Matty on DD doing "Ok guys its time for Health Is Wealth" but he has no business telling us about health would be funny.

BrohemianGrove

After seeing Colin’s fit, got the urge for White People Taco Night 🌮

TreyDogg

loved her work with Far Cry 4 over 10 years years ago. I cant name anything shes done since, and im not sure why she gets attention from the Industry

KING OF KINGS

PlayStation has 124 million MAU not 116……

Guybrush Threepwood

Just started Dark Ages myself, and looking forward to a potential spoilercast on it from LSM. Between dustin, chris, and matty who i know for sure will prob have finished it, plus anyone else that may also finish it, would be really cool to get a spoilercast on this one.

I'm actually stoked they changed the name back to HBO... I didn't think this would bother me that much but God damn it really did. Specially because I often had to explain the entire situation to customers.

Guys BALDURS GATE 3 Was NOT funded by WOTC or HASBRO.

Cole Barker

I funded BG3. Along with a bunch of other people lol

Cole Barker

Chris doesn’t even say anything of substance on the matter. He just makes a joke with very little context.

Born-Blind

As someone that tends to juggle 3-4 games at once I find that Doom :The Dark Ages and Expedition 33 perfectly compliment each other. Very easy to juggle at the same time.

Born-Blind

Fucking love those games. Some of my earliest hardcore gaming memories are of playing the original Baldurs Gate on PC. Some older kid down the street gave me the 8 CDROM collection when he went to college. Just the nostalgia of swapping out CDROMs in my old Dell PC going from area to area.... I was way to young to be playing something like that. He also gave me Starcraft, Diablo, Rainbow Six, Operation Flashpoint etc. wish I could go back and thank that dude

Colin's early thoughts on Expedition 33 are spot on with how I felt. Interesting story, cool combat, beautiful areas, but it throws too many tutorial text sequences your way at once, plus no mini-game.
