Colin was right about modern games journalism. They are so irreverent that even that Gamespot review of Death Stranding means nothing. Nobody cares what they have to say. Which is probably worse for them. They would rather be hated than be irrelevant.

I have to wonder if they insert absurd comments into their reviews just to be part of the conversation though. Gamespot often seems to have lower scores than the other mainstream outlets. I wouldn't have gone to read their review if I didn't see how it was so much lower than others on Metacritic. So they got a click out of me for that.

I look forward to when they become truly irrelevant. People reminding everyone that journos are irrelevant is still some form of relevancy. Like I truly didn't know about this review, or think about "Gamespot" as an entity for ... months now? seeing your comment reminded me, "oh yeah, that's still a thing!"

Gene is so right about PC Gamer being worse than Kotaku now. I had a subscription to physical PC Gamer for 22 years and accidentally let it expire. When I read their online article shaking their finger at Nexus Mods for not banning a mod to Oblivion Remaster changing "Type 1 and Type 2" into male and female, I was so glad I let my subscription expire. Then again years ago their review of a Medal of Honor game said how gross it was for trying to empathize with military personnel...so they were on their way to the crap bin then too.
