I Can Dodge Bullets? | Sacred Symbols, Episode 383

An old piece of games industry lore has recently reemerged, and it has people wondering about a tantalizing what-if. Back in 1999, The Matrix hit theaters, and the co-creators of the film happened to have been huge fans of Hideo Kojima, himself a year removed from the launch of Metal Gear Solid. And, as was reported at the time, there was potential that Konami would allow Kojima to pursue a licensed Matrix game post-MGS. A lot of new information has since emerged about what did and didn't happen here, and it makes for a great conversation starter. So let's lean into it, shall we? Our conclusion: Perhaps Kojima doing MGS2 instead of a Matrix game means he likely dodged a bullet (pardon the pun). Other news this week includes some quiet updates seemingly being made to PlayStation Portal's functionality, leaks from Bluepoint's cancelled God of War game, the most recent China Hero Project title in the form of Loulan: The Cursed Sand, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Following Freedom Wars, Patapon, and Everybody's Golf, what should Sony's and Bandai Namco's next collaborative re-release be? Do PC players have any reason to invest in the modern PlayStation ecosystem? Will the culture war consume Naughty Dog's Intergalactic? Does Colin type so fast that his keyboard smokes? As a nuclear physicist I support collins push for nuclear. Although they are expensive to build its an upfront cost. Modern reactors btw are incredibly safe. There's always a risk but it's tiny. Just don't like buukd them right on a major fault line or fuck around with them. A situation like chernobyl or even 3 mile island should be oretty much impossible with modern designs.

But, it’s FREE!!!🤪 Dude, research how much the last couple of nuclear units costed to build in the U.S. Once again Colin showing his complete and willful ignorance of power generation. First it was about how solar is so wonderful even though it’s completely unreliable, infeasible and the materials are non-renewable.

I took typing class in grade 9 in high school and no joke that was the most useful class high school offered. Basically the one thing I still use to this day.

Colin this is deeper than liberal ideology having "wokeness" in their games. This is about the military industrial complex using video games as one of their propaganda wings. Microsoft is massively involved in the technology sector of the Military industrial complex. I don't think Obama or Bidens DOD Twitter accounts posted shit like this, it has nothing to do with woke shit being written into games by video game writers. This is about making war / war criminality cool, it's to whitewash bloody hands. And more akin to the US army video games or old-school cod's ties to the military. Same as Hollywood's military propaganda industry and Hollywood's Copoganda industry ( And I say this as a fan of all the things I listed)

Albeit, not commonly used here in Europe I'd want my country (Denmark) to consider it, albeit our politicians in general against it. I know nuclear energy is big in France I believe almost half (40-45%) of their energy is created through nuclear energy. Maybe above half, I'm not quite sure about the factual numbers atm

It wasn't a blunder, and Sony got away because this is normal in software development, especially in the commercial product space. Write-ins like this just show how little knowledge there is about this stuff. Not to mention people just falling face down into an outcome bias, pretending to be smart. God damn.

Gooch Gobbler

yeah wtf was that comparison? I don't remember anyone using game memes about policy on their official accounts

He doubled down too on the Elden Ring stream. He was shaking his head at people like us. I love Colin but man sometimes he misses the forest for the trees, all I could do was shake my head back lol.
