PlayStation 6's Delay, Xbox's Future, and Steam Machine's Threat | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 505

It's me, Colin. Please welcome LSM tech analyst, friend-of-the-show, YouTuber, and podcaster Moore's Law Is Dead (aka Tom) back to Sacred+. Today, we convene (as we always do when we gather) to talk about hardware, and there's a whole lot to touch on. For starters, rumors rum amok about PS6, a device Sony hasn't announced yet, but one we know is coming. There are questions, though. When should we expect it? Will it be delayed? How much will it cost? If Tom's right, you'll still see it next fall at a surprisingly cheap pricepoint. We also get into the questionable future of Xbox with its upcoming Magnus PC (which sounds quite expensive), and focus-in on Sony's true threat as we move into the next generation: Valve and its Steam Machine, which will likely launch in the coming months. Thing is, it'll be weaker than the PlayStation 5, not to mention PlayStation 6. And Valve doesn't have access to anywhere close to the economies of scale that Sony does. Will it matter? Let's get into it! Please Note: This episode was recorded days prior to Microsoft's reveal of Xbox's Project Helix.

I'll be there day 1 for the PS Handheld. As for the PS6, Sony is going to have to really sell me on it. I'm content with PS5.

Seems like just a guest for this episode

The whiplash of going from someone like Tom (calm, collected, highly technical, data-driven) on Saturday to someone like Jaffe (from the hip, under the influence, hoping to make someone cry) on Monday is part of what makes LSM so great. The entire spectrum is included.

Wookie flea and tick meds

Im really looking forward to listing to this episode while working my mundane job!

I think kind of like how Hoag is the legal correspondent for LSM, Tom is the hardware correspondent.

I enjoyed this very much. The benefit of a new console with previous generations is that all the annoyances were gone. The PS5 isn't annoying me yet and with RE Requiem on Pro, I'm in awe of how good it looks. I'll be there day one for the PS6 for the best GFX and framerates. For the general gamer though I assume the PS6 handheld aspect is going to be it's USP for the PS6 Ecosystem. Time will tell.
