Again, it is insufferable that these are video only. I get the game streams because that makes sense. But conversations being locked behind video-only format which just makes it way more of a hassle for people that just want to listen to it.

Ben King

Agreed - I fall asleep to podcasts but my screen has to stay open and I can’t set a timer so it stops itself.

Addison117

For the mother's day call in, why don't you just have brunch for mother's day and dinner/cake can be for your birthday.

Jeff in NOLA

Assuming you have an Android?

Ben King

(Presuming you’re asking me) I use an iphone.

Rob Pursglove

Dustin, please can we have these in audio form?

Germanos

No. The game system slider is not essential. Nowhere is this said in the game. It is an optional assist mode-like feature so that people can tweak the experience to them. DOOM was praised for it. Countless other games were. I don't believe there was even a introduction tutorial, while there is a bubble that appears for everything else. I get you need to find something to like the game less and Returnal more. Also... the game changes to Returnal (narrative wise) from Act 2.

Germanos

Play it on YouTube. Close your eyes.

Alfie

Get YouTube premium, download the YouTube video.

John

So I already have Patreon for LSM, and your solution is to get a 2nd subscription ($16/month for YT premium I think, I’ve never had it). Interesting solution.

IronLion44

Randy has totally redeemed himself. It was good to hear from him again.

Pianopower

People bitching that is not in audio format is the biggest first world problem I’ve seen here. Holy shit you guys, what a privileged life if this is what’s tilting you. “Omg the world is ending! Cuz Dustin didn’t put it in audio format”. Leave the whining for stuff that’s more important. Maybe?

Black Detective in Dexter

This is one of those weird "Colin hang ups". There is literally no reason that this can't be offered to the audience in an audio format. I get it for game streams, but this is essentially a podcast. It really is just Colin being weird for no reason. I'm sure Dustin would happily give us an audio version if it were up to him.

Cousin Kenny

I don’t watch the video. You can close your screen listening on Patreon

Cousin Kenny

These Jaffe streams are the best. He’s such a gem.

Yet

Indie means it’s not made by a triple a studio, to the entire world except Colin

Black Detective in Dexter

And here you are, whining about people whining... It's a valid complaint from paying customers.

Anthony Petersen

Voicing my opinion as to not come off as a complainer. I would love to consume this content but this being only offered in video format is too inconvenient for how and when I’m able to listen to podcasts, and this video is effectively a podcast. Colin is obviously free to do as he wishes with this, but looking at the comments I can tell I’m not the only person that will be spending a few hours consuming someone else’s content. EDIT: just wanted to say I saw Colin’s response in this thread. Fair points and very appreciative for the insight. I’m hoping to still find time to watch this video at some point.

I totally appreciate, hear, and respect this feedback, but there are a couple of important facets you're missing that I think will help you better understand my position. 1.) Sacred Streaming is meant to draw public attention towards our YouTube channel. While our YouTube channel is really more of a repository than something we try to seriously monetize (we make just under 10% of our gross revenue, roughly, from the service), it represents the only true growth potential we can easily flex at this point. So while some of its content can no doubt be enjoyed off of YouTube, it's not really the point. The point is literally to give YouTube something of ours exclusively in hopes that we can draw more people there and make more money there, and then find (as Jim Ryan might call it) a more virtuous cycle. Ironically, Sacred Streaming is our only truly free product from the moment we begin recording it. You're not paying for it as part of your subscription here, in any way. (To wit, we only post it here so people here know it exists, out of a sense of completeness and fairness.) 2.) This is important to lay out for you, because when I launched Sacred Streaming, I admittedly tried to have it both ways by simultaneously having a public-facing version of it while tying it to Patreon in other ways (such as VoD). This didn't move the needle at all -- in fact, it seemed entirely irrelevant to our paying audience -- which is why, beginning in January, we simply removed those perks and completely severed Sacred Streaming from Patreon, altering the strategy to be about YouTube strictly, than about YouTube and Patreon. This was (and is) unintuitive for us, since everything typically drives through Patreon. There are other inevitable issues that I don't expect the audience to understand, but that are guaranteed -- people asking where audio is for shows we don't deem "audio-first," complaining about the content of the streams, and so on -- but really, our approach focuses on what is LSM Patreon versus what is LSM YouTube, and the difference between the two. We are ultimately, at our core, a paid podcast network, and we're clear what falls under that umbrella. But not everything does. Honestly, the best approach may be to simply not post Sacred Streaming on Patreon at all anymore, since there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding it. I'll consider that beginning with the next episode this coming Monday, as it'll probably be the cleanest solution. But in the meantime, I hope what I'm saying makes some semblance of sense to you. -Colin

Pianopower

"and you are whining about people whining" No shit sherlock, are you 12 or did my common sense comment stroke a nerve on your whiny brain? No is not a fair complaint, at all. And its fair to whine about unfair whining. Hope that helps Doakes, you were dense even in the show

Pianopower

Oh no!!! *gasp* THE HORROR!!!!

Joseph Cerini

There is nothing wrong with Tencent. Like it or not the only thing holding back China is the U.S. and it's not because China is morally grey, it's all about money. So there is no high horse here. It's business. Sony just sold its TV name to TLC a Chinese company. Hawaii makes some of the best electric devices in the world period. I can on and on with examples but it's business. Leading from that, no one cares if you get your bag Collin. Take the ads and make more money. The difference is these opportunities are presented to you, you are not chasing them down because you want more money. Nothing wrong with that. This fear you have of perception while valid is misplaced. These are gaming podcast, gaming ads are perfectly fine. I trust the ads would be fairplay and make sense, and not raidshadow legends.

Unemployable troon

Coming from one of the largest known whiners on this patreon …. Ironic

The ritual network is the key to all of this

But you’ve taken conversations and topics traditionally on SS+ that we do pay for and have paid for for years, and put it exclusively on YouTube. So if you want to say the LSM Patreon and the LSM YouTube are different and you’re clear about the difference, also be clear that you essentially removed Moriarty X Jaffe from the podcast network audio format that people do pay for and are saying they want. Moriarty x Jaffe, sacred league, award predictions. These are all episodes of plus for years that we listened to and paid to do so. Now you’re taking them away, making YouTube exclusive, and you’re telling us we don’t get it?

Pianopower

I rarely comment here, wtf are you even talking about? Didn’t know I was so popular just from posting like 6 times in the years I’ve had this Patreon, but thanks for the compliment

Kasual7

Makes sense, now invite Shawn Layden and Bruce on the show.

Guybrush Threepwood

if a couple hundred of them whine loudly enough, of the 13k or whatever, colin might listen, again.

Glen Yelenovic

Another legendary call in show. Jaffe ripping the guy about his bday vs Mother’s Day is right up there with the divorced day spending time with his kids

Glen Yelenovic

I need to know Jaffe’s thoughts on Randy!

Glen Yelenovic

While I agree having a publisher does not make a game not indie, there are levels between indie and AAA. I agree with Colin that Expedition 33 is not indie. Indie games are like porn to the government. I can’t define it, but I know it when I see it. More or less Indie to me is a smaller scope game that is typically digital only (except like a limited small physical run) and is $30 or under

Glen Yelenovic

I wouldn’t say he totally redeemed himself but he came off a lot better. He is hiding something and I need to know what Jaffe thinks it is.

Matthew

Anyone that wants to listen via audio only, you can download the Brave browser on IOS or Android. It lets you lock the screen while the video plays, and you can even download the video to listen to in the background. All for free.

Black Detective in Dexter

I'm still confused. I don't see how providing an audio version for your already subscribed Patreon members would limit your YouTube growth. The vast majority of Patreon subscribers are already subscribed to LSM YouTube.

D

It was rude of Jaffe to constantly interrogate the guy. And then after Randy spilled his guts to 1,000+ people over two shows, Jaffe INSISTS he is still hiding something. And then refuses to even tell Randy or the chat what he's thinking.

D

He has spoken 30+ minutes over these call in shows and shared vivid details about his life story. Why after all the interrogating must he be "hiding something"?

IronLion44

I’m not saying that he isn’t hiding something he may be. He did come off much better this time around though

Ryan

Jaffe is the biggest living proof that you can be responsible for some amazing things and still have the worst taste and opinions imaginable lmao
