The forced outrage against Mixtape is unfounded, disingenuous, and, quite frankly, laughable. This community constantly displays a lack of media literacy and an inability to engage with media that doesn’t conform to what they think it should be. Mixtape is emotional, gripping, funny, and, quite frankly, a revolutionary achievement for the medium. It’s the best game to come out of Tel Aviv in years, and that’s a hill I’m willing to die on.

Jose

Gone Home is a more revolutionary game and it came out 11 years ago. Mixtape is not improved by being a video game in the way that Gone Home was and its coming of age story is something you can find anywhere.

Dante B

I completely agree with the criticisms of the manufactured outrage. But equally annoying (and manufactured) are the people calling it a perfect ten and “a revolutionary achievement for the medium.” Give me a break. Everything on earth is either the best thing of all time or the worst. It’s exhausting.

Chris Morton

I can't tell if this is ragebait lol

Derpology Mcswag

I like this thumbnail a lot, Dustin. Good job.

John King

Played on Gamepass for about 10mins then bought it on PSN, it looks fun.

My ears perked up hearing Howie’s game shack. I spent a lot of weekends there in middle school and early high school. I have a friend that got a knife pulled on him during a Halo 2 match. I had another friend that got offered a BJ by an older girl downstairs in the parking garage. He declined it and looking back it was super weird that these high school age girls were trying to hit on middle school gamer kids like ourselves. I also got into world of Warcraft at Howie’s and experienced gaming stoned for the first time. I remember the older goth kids that would smoke cigs and play DDR. They kind of scared me. Soooo many memories at K scope and Howie’s game shack. What a time to be in middle school during that era. Me, my wife and my son just went to K scope to see the Mario Galaxy movie and it’s a shell of its former glory. It’s totally a dead mall with a theater attached to it that’s the only thing bringing people back.

Daddy T

Revolutionary is crazy work lmao

Chris running defense for Mix Tape was the free spot on this week's bingo card. Wouldn't have given it a second glance if not for the divisiveness. It's too predictable at this point.

Don

That part. Only 9 months ago Chris was laughing about a grown man his own age getting shot in the head at a college campus.

TheWubbz

Gamers are the worst.

Cole Phelps Sends Babies To Jail

Finished Mixtape earlier today, had a lot of fun with it and was constantly impressed by the creativity. Incredible direction and artwork too it’s definitely up there with one of the better experiential type games for me. Coming hot off the heels of my saros platinum today I had a good time and think it’s worth checking out. an absolute steal at £13 (current ps+ sale)

JustInsane

Mixtape is like what $20? Looks like an interesting experience coming from a 45 year old. Not every game has to be everything for everyone.

Ben King

I’m almost finished with Mixtape - I’m up to Slater’s bedroom so I’m close to finished. It’s very sweet and it looks great. Is it fun? I’m not so sure, but do I stare at it in wonder? Yes. Does it evoke nostalgic memories I haven’t thought of in over a decade, absolutely. Is it funny? Sometimes. Is that part of the experience fun? I would say yes! If I had to score it I’d give it a 7.5/10. I can’t complain for £13. I bought a beer a cider and some chicken wings today and it cost me £27… I think Mixtape is worth the money.

Addison117

They were over it until pete Davidsons joke this weekend reignited it.

Mason M

This should've been the coming of age story in Mixtape

You gotta play LA noire …. COMEON MAN

Hippopotamus Anonymous

My friends and I all did the Skyrim lan party thing too. Like 7 of us all packed in my friend's basement. Only one of has a flat-screen, everyone had to lug in their heavy ass CRTs. That was actually how I discovered that shouts were even a thing. I had played like 20 hours on my own and never did of the main story quests and had mind blown when I saw my friend use Fus lol

Robbie (DatLie)

Great show. To the guy who says Sony and Xbox needs to copy Nintendos pace of game releases, go play some actual games. Nintendo makes at best Double A games that are mainly cut and copy of each other.

Jarett Davis

Hi Chris, there is a subreddit called r/tipofmyjoystick that can help you find the old FPS you’re talking about

IronLion44

Have not played it yet but looking forward to it

Screwed Mcfucked

Well, Charlie didn't feel too bad about actual children getting perforated (Sick bastard called it necessary) Tit for tat

Screwed Mcfucked

It's worst sin is being relentlessly cringe, and that's ok

Screwed Mcfucked

I would love if the audience could help identify this game I just did a lazy Google search and came up with a couple things that wouldn't be so obvious Chasm : The Rift Requiem: Avenging Angel SiN

Bisexual Lighting Rigger

Yep its like we are having the same conversation about IGN with the Mouse P.I review but in the opposite direction. Mixtape is an excellent game. It is IMO as solid of an 8/10 as they come. But as per IGN's scale, it is a masterpiece... no...

Magnus

I bought Mixtape because of Chris. If I don’t like it, I will blame him.

Magnus

Correction: He got shot in the neck.

Bisexual Lighting Rigger

I haven't finished it yet but I would say its a solid 8/10 so far. Its a vibe. Especially for those of us who grew up in the 90's. I think the characters lean into the Bill and Ted voice a bit too heavy.

Ben King

If it sticks the landing nicely it may even get an upgrade haha

Deemac

Once again I don't understand the Sacred boys aversion to the other weapons in Saros. Chris's take that he doesn't see a reason for the pistol (as if there's only a single type) is funny to me, given that I actually beat the very boss he's talking about being stuck on, with a pistol lmao. There are ricochet and explosive varients of the pistol which I have found very useful at times, and as far as I have seen at least, there aren't machine guns with those abilities. Also they continue to overlook the greatness of the homing crossbow, their loss I guess

Russell Robinson

Yeah the refusal to even experiment with other guns confuses me. I wonder if there even using the secondary function from holding the triggers halfway. I'll admit I almost forgot about it at first cause I was confusing it that for the full trigger press special. Maybe that's the problem they're having.

Christopher Ricetopher

Chris, get a haircut semi-regularly for the love of god. From one chris to another.

NinjaDC

Brad, you need to play the Spyro Reignited trilogy remake. It’s a Bluepoint level remake of the trilogy that put Insomniac on the map, and holds up so well. It ended up being my first 3 platinum trophies.

Adam Martinez

A Bloody Roar remake would be amazing

Del Griffith

The Alt on the Repeater Crossbow is nuts. So good. Also some of the Chakra weapons are crazy good too.

lazer_josh

Mixtape was quite enjoyable imo

Gooch Gobbler

Curious why you wouldn't finish on GP. You want to support the devs more? That's dope

John King

Yeah, I was enjoying it so wanted to buy it. It's nice to get some trophies as well.

Mr. Pang

This isn’t some revelation, he literally says in the episode that he checked it out because of the mixed reception so he could decide what he thought for himself. Unlike a lot of people that are upset, you dunce.

Jack Lennard

Big agree on this. Pellet grenade shotgun with stun is insane for mobs, the DPS with pistol varieties blows the smart rifle out of the water. Yes smart rifle is the "easiest", though I would argue that's untrue in more CQC encounters like the nightmares. But the payoff for the risk of the others is huge.
