PlayStation Network has once again been targeted by nefarious actors, this time exposing flaws in Sony's online infrastructure that we never even considered. If you've noticed weird games popping-up in your recently played list, titles that don't belong in your library, cluttered PSN widgets, and other oddities, you were affected. And while Sony seems to have begun to mend the issue, it feels like they're unable to accept their solemn corporate obligation to protect their customers. Will they ever even publicly admit their problems, nonetheless solve all of them? We discuss. Plus: Other news! Grand Theft Auto VI's pre-orders are imminent, rumors are circulating about a potential delay of PlayStation 6, Housemarque talks about its post-Saros future, Halo: Campaign Evolved's Trophies have been surreally revealed, Mark Hamill is set to appear in Twisted Metal's third season on Peacock, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Is PlayStation at risk of losing its hard-earned prestige? Why aren't more at-risk studios sold instead of shuttered? Should Capcom get more credit for their runaway success with RE Engine? Will Dustin ever return to the show, or will Sacred forever move forward as a duo?

Leon is such an amazing name 😭 Congrats Dustin and Holly!!!

Colin understands the problem with food in the South. Yeah, the pit meat and southern style cooking is wonderful, but the Chinese, Mexican, and Italian we grew up with in the North is simply not available down here. Even when people from NY and CT open restaurants here, the ingredients, water, and environment is totally different so the food tastes wrong.

Halph Pint

Over four hours long sans Dustin is hilarious…these Chris/Colin only shows always go off the rails quickly lol

Jake Z

Colin you should learn the economic concept of comparative advantage to explain why Sony is focusing on AAA and abandoning smaller games. You're intuiting it

SL

Im pretty sure it was well past 2009 that Xbox 360 outperformed PS3 in the NPDs (North American sales). It was Xbox’s hopelessness in Japan and middling acceptance in Europe that allowed PS3 to stay competitive.

Kyle Day

I wonder what Colin said exactly. Could be among a few things…😂

SL

I agree with you guys, PSN has always felt like a rushed, sloppy reaction to Xbox Live. Whereas Xbox Live was cohesive and essentially fully-featured from day one of the 360, PSN was basically built out piece by piece in a ‘shit shit shit, we need that too’ way. No wonder there are so many exploits and oversights.

ChaosZwei+5

People aren't really into pokemon cards it's basically just an investment market nobody really plays the game of Pokemon. Magic suffers a bit from the card value problems but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who collects magic cards and doesn't play the game. Magic is endlessly replay able and is more complex and varied than basically any other game ever made seeing at it has 30,000 unique pieces and dozens and dozens of ways to play it. I guess it's different bc im a fan but people are really into magic bc it's a fun game to play thats easy to learn and you can spend a lifetime getting better and better at it.

I think pork poncho is the hacker

Dante B

Okay but if I want my PSN to show that I’ve played hentai princess for a thousand hours how can I do that

Bisexual Lighting Rigger

I played so much Trash Panic back in the day. Everyday Shooter was another great indie game from the PS3 I played a ton of.

SL

Everyday Shooter was so fucking good. I'd kill for a way to play it on console without a PS Plus Premium sub

Connor

Yes the 360 was actually the best selling console globally in 2010 and 2011. It was 2012 where PS3 finally caught up and then eventually passed in 2013

Addison117

To the guy who went to Teddy Roosevelts house did you also see in the statue of him on the horse in the town square? It's weird hearing about the town Iived in talked about on a podcast.

ChaosZwei+5

60fps being fine is console player cope once you actually play things at triple digit frame rates it's hard to ever go back

Addison117

60 is fine for a controller but anything past that has diminishing returns unless you use a mouse and keyboard then you feel every frame.

ChaosZwei+5

How's controller make it any different? Every time you tilt the stick and walk or move the camera at all theres a big noticeable difference in smoothness between just 60 and 100fps.

Jacob Lesperance

Hey, little girl, is your daddy home? Did he go away and leave you all alone? I got a bad desire Oh, oh, oh I'm on fire Tell me now, baby, is he good to you? And can he do to you the things that I do? Oh no, I can take you higher Oh, oh, oh I'm on fire. I'm on fire - Springsteen. Talk about creepy lyrics, lol.

Philip Dunphy

What if Sony stays on track with their current console timeline but instead of launching the next generation with a “PS6”, they pull an Apple-move and call it PS5 Ultra, or something to that effect. Punt the marketing beat of the next generation but don’t punt the machine. Just a thought.

SL

That doesnt really change the perceived lack of demand for new hardware

Hermen's March

I wasn't trying to prop up any creator as more successful than the other, I was just making the case that this backlash stems from legitimate criticism, as evidenced by the size of these audiences across multiple communities. I still appreciate the response. You at least seem respondent to the topic while many pretend it doesn't exist. I'm just of the opinion that this replacement is an more of an existential threat to the core audience than you'd probably agree with.

Haru Discourse

This feels like bait. In what world would 60 not be fine???

Haru Discourse

That’s exactly what I want to know ☝️

Christopher O'Toole

Leon is not only a great name but also a jolly take on The Shining lipstick scene.

ChaosZwei+5

Spoken by someone who doesn't play at high frame rates. Games are works of engineering and technology on top of being works of art. Being ok with games being stuck in the past (60fps) is quite silly to me. Caring deeply about games is also advocating for the technology behind them to get better over time.

Dante B

Please DM me if you figure this out and I will do the same my brother in Christ

Subeg

Ima listener from that era 🙋🏼‍♀️

Doug Abaire

We figured out this whole hacked saga is to cover up Micah finding out Colin played Sex store simulator for 8000 hours 😂

Envydiel

He's black by marriage, he can say it.

The reason they don’t manufacture a ton of cards is simple supply and demand. Gotta keep it limited to keep people buying more packs.

Virgin Barry

I think you guys don’t get the fundamental appeal of TCGs. It’s essentially gambling and chasing the dopamine hit of the pull. The cards only matter because they’re rare. Flooding the market with “rare” cards removes the entire purpose people buy packs in the first place. If no card is rare anymore, there isn’t a point in opening the packs. The long term ecosystem would collapse.

Gal Sharpton

Long Island: stay for the food, leave for the fuckin awful traffic

Vladimir Grabbinmikov

The unfortunate reality with the blops games getting ported is they are just porting broken multiplayers(cheaters make up easily 50% of the matches you’ll play) with no crossplay.

Craig Molnar

Asmongold: "Palestinian's are lesser human beings then us and deserve to be murdered" Colin: "Asmongold is so eloquent and smart."

Risen

“Would they stop manufacturing PS5?” MLID sat across from you multiple times and said the explicit reason they want to get PS6 onto the market is precisely because it would be cheaper to make, outside of memory.

Risen

You really got him good

"I was so up shits ass" -Colin Moriarty

Supes

yeah but that's gay

Shinobi-san

So when will this be posted to the RSS feed?

Xemphanis

I tried Lunar Abyss when the studio closure news came out. My first thought was “This is pretty cool, and no one is going to buy this game”

KYisLife

At 3:39:00 Chris talks about how we need to get back to caring more about gameplay than super realism that costs millions more than their benefits. I agree, but I think Sony would then also need to lower the price from $70.

hopscotchington

"Flooding something is inherently nefarious" ... interesting ...

hopscotchington

Asmongold: "Craig, check your beeper" Colin: "41*705312"

David Seger

PSN being a joke is why PS is my least used platform. It truly sucks and is a worse experience than all other platforms

JL

Yeah man I feel like he either hasn’t heard/seen asmongold’s heinous takes, or Colin is further right than we realized lol. I said “oof” out loud at that part of the pod. Asmongold also champions nick fuentes who famously is against interracial marriage 🤷

Supes

Colin is doing that classic Colin Moriarty "take a small vertical slice of an argument and treat it like it's the entire argument" thing. He's not always great at thinking about things from a multifaceted angle (and that's okay- honestly I do that a lot too); I think he's right that people like SmashJT don't earn very much money, and therefore the argument that they're "gaining publicity and therefore $$" is probably specious. However, that doesn't mean they're irrelevant or that their voice isn't heard. You can agree or disagree with him (I think he's a wackadoo myself), but SmashJT has about 30K more subscribers on YouTube than LSM, and his videos generally net about as many (if not more) views than LSM's regular uploads. That's not nothing, man.

Hermen's March

SmashJT has a moderate size following in the anti-woke space, but I think Endymion is much larger, and I've heard some real complaints about him. If I go down the list, I think there are probably close to 2 dozen creators around JTs size. By themselves they don't amount to much, but it's their combined audiences that make up a larger portion of the backlash against intersectional developers, and I'm willing to bet they have some crossover with LSM, despite what Colin says. I think Colin is more focused on what he was trying to say, rather than straw-maning my argument. I do feel he's being too reductive to the larger conversation, even if it devolves into DEI=Purple memes. Tbh, the only people I saw posting that Halo DEI-Purple stuff were actually using it facetiously to make fun of that general argument. It's funny, but disingenuous. I wish Colin could have a real conversation with one if the "anti-woke" proponents other than Craig. I like Side Scrollers, but I don't think he's eloquent enough to really point out all the DEI focused government directives and firms that were behind the scenes perverting development on games like South of Midnight, or Vangaurd. It's a shame we'll never get to see that, but I think Colin is surrounded by too many liberals on his own show. It's become a bubble, and he can't see past the smoke screen LSM has created for him, between his partners and audience. I like Matty, Cog, and Brad, but I think having Chris co-hosting with him so long has biased him to right leaning viewpoints without him knowing it.

Glen Yelenovic

Fire Island is famous for something else other than vacations. Are you sure you went there just as friends?

Kevin Cooper

Once again, Colin should track down Philip R. Reitinger (the ex-homeland security director that Sony hired after the infamous PSN hack). Just to pick his brain in an interview and to gauge how seriously was taking the security issue at that time.

we are all dogs locked in god's hot car

This got a chuckle out of me as well. “Ya know someone like Asmongold, not someone that’s a human barnacle” as though Asmongold won’t drink water because he hates the taste of it because his mouth is so rancid and rotten and the water swirls that flavor around and the coalition of roaches he cohabitates with

David P

TFW I played bound, counterspy, shadow of the beast

SL

Sure, and all movies should be displayed at 60fps and 240hz with motion smoothing

ChaosZwei+5

You don't control a movie doofus

Knowbody

I went to Puerto Rico recently and visited the Aguadilla Mall. As I passed through the food court, I noticed that the restuarant with the longest line was...a Taco Bell? Benefit of the doubt: the staff might just have been slow. But it might have been something else. Chris and co., care to speculate why anyone would want to "run for the border" when real (good) latino food is readily available?

Joshua wells

I hope you still consider guests. Mystic doesn't need any lime light, but someone like Radec will probably really appreciate it.

Walk Forward Cutscene

Wow, look at all these totally genuine comments from people who totally aren’t assmad Hasan Piker fanboys

NeO JD

If you like Call of Duty at all, Black Ops 1 and 2 are must plays.

The Big Bong

wtf? those are real? no wonder all of hollywood and celebs are pedos!
