Stare Straight Ahead, Ignore the Responsibility | Sacred Symbols, Episode 416

PlayStation Network has once again been targeted by nefarious actors, this time exposing flaws in Sony's online infrastructure that we never even considered. If you've noticed weird games popping-up in your recently played list, titles that don't belong in your library, cluttered PSN widgets, and other oddities, you were affected. And while Sony seems to have begun to mend the issue, it feels like they're unable to accept their solemn corporate obligation to protect their customers. Will they ever even publicly admit their problems, nonetheless solve all of them? We discuss. Plus: Other news! Grand Theft Auto VI's pre-orders are imminent, rumors are circulating about a potential delay of PlayStation 6, Housemarque talks about its post-Saros future, Halo: Campaign Evolved's Trophies have been surreally revealed, Mark Hamill is set to appear in Twisted Metal's third season on Peacock, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Is PlayStation at risk of losing its hard-earned prestige? Why aren't more at-risk studios sold instead of shuttered? Should Capcom get more credit for their runaway success with RE Engine? Will Dustin ever return to the show, or will Sacred forever move forward as a duo? Follow the hosts! I love how many times that glasses photo has been used 😂 what’s it 10 years old???

Red Head Redemption

No offense to the boys but thank god there won’t be any guests

Menopause wasn't an evolutionary thing as nobody was living long enough for menopause to even occur until recent centuries.

Alex Roberts

I’ve seen that image of Colin in the thumbnail more than my own father

Eugene

Menopause occurs in a woman's 40s/50s. There were plenty of women who lived until their 40s and 50s milennia ago.

Jay

That's true, i didn't think about the average age being so skewed by people dying in infancy so much more.

Jay

That said, you'd have to go back way further than that to get to any point where we would see the results of evolution. I still say people weren't living long enough for that to be a factor at any point where we would see the results of it at this time.

“Young Girl" by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap

TCGs get brought up nearly as much as Seinfeld these days. Time to have a SS+ diving into everything cards.

Pyo

I really thought Radec would be in this episode 💀

The servers may be separate, but if they can compromise the server that tracks games played, they can compromise the server that tracks licenses owned. The fact that Sony knew about this for 5+ years and did nothing, just proves once again that Sony is incompetent and apathetic about compromising their customers' data and the money that their customers spend. Another event that does not speak well for the "all digital" future. Clearly the numerous class action lawsuits that Sony has lost is not motivating them to fix anything.

I think the boys missed the point completely on the” culture war” question. The money doesn’t imply validity, the audience these people get ( hence the money that follows) implies the validity. And while get Chris stance as a ( left face it ) lefty Colin approach to the issue just feels very weird. He knows these people get oxygen because game development and games media skew tremendously to the left ( more “communist “)than almost any industry besides Hollywood. I mean this is a profession that deems David Jaffe persona none grata because he isn’t “ woke” enough.
