Please welcome experienced character artist, BAFTA judge, and games industry denizen Del Walker to Sacred+. I (Colin) first became aware of Del on Twitter, where he provides a pleasantly-outspoken perspective on our space, an understandable (albeit unfortunate) rarity from the dev side of things. I thus invited Del onto the show to get his opinions on all manner of vital subjects, but to be honest, we never even got there. Instead, Del and I jumped head-first into his impressive CV, learning a great deal about the games he worked on, his experiences at various studios, and what the life of a working games artist is like. After all, Del worked on Batman: Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight, Kill the Justice League, Halo Wars 2, Star Wars: Survivor, The Last of Us Online (!), and most recently Highguard. So naturally, he has much to say. And since he's existed within the walls of Rocksteady, Creative Assembly, Naughty Dog, London Studio, Respawn, Splash Damage, Wildlight, and most recently Dan Houser's exciting Santa Monica-based developer Absurd Ventures, it's safe to assume he has many a story to regale us with.

Before I even listen to the episode, I have to remark on how well written the description for the episode is. It sells.

There's some extra cool about black dudes from London!

Colin’s Jellybean-Shaped Head

This guy is like a smart Forrest Gump, interacting with all these amazing franchises, haha. Del is extremely likable and easy to listen to. Please have this guy on more often. I think he’d mix well with the rest of LSM.

Umkart

He was also on the State of the Arc podcast a few days ago. Was excellent.

NeO JD

Love that everybody else now is discovering Del. We need more outspoken devs in the industry, and he’s not afraid to call out companies he’s worked for out on their bs either. Hope he becomes a part of the rotation.

ArunWyn

Loved this episode as much as the Ken Levine one (please get him back on again). Brilliant and insightful conversation.

John Wick's pencil

I'd like for Collen to talk to someone who doesn't like The Last of Us 2. I'm pretty sure that would be way more interesting. The same for the Final Fantasy Remake games. This was a great interview. This guy has a really cool career. Hope to see more stuff like this.

Jason Bolla

Fantastic episode, looking forward to the next time Del joins.

Sam Myers

Tremendous work Colin, great interview

Captain Falcon

Great interview! I completely forgot about highguard, it was interesting to get some insight on the game and on the last of us live service game. Can't wait for part 2

Xstar25

Just when I think this conversation can’t get any better, Dell drops a Space Jam reference.

Asique Alam

On the topic of people hating on naughty dog for intergalactic. I thought it was because the protagonist looked ugly and people think it's going to be another lesbian woke thingy or something. I'm not against it. It's just what I see.

DirtyInverty

I love it when you interview someone I've never heard of before, and it turns out to be an amazing episode with someone I now know to look for in the future.

Extor

Fantastic!

Robert Friemering

I loved this episode, it's an introduction. It's like teeing up for more. I enjoyed how much info we got of Del's history. Can't wait for the return, we can just get rolling with whatever he's on next for.
