Think Someone's About To Be Carved | Sacred Symbols, Episode 424

On PlayStation 5 in the near future, you're going to be hacking, slashing, stabbing, and serrating your enemies with reckless abandon. For starters, the dangerously-clawed Wolverine emerges in September, along with a newly-announced special edition PS5 console, a couple of DualSense controllers, and even some plates for your existing hardware. (Plus, the previews are quite positive!) September also provides us with horroresque Halloween: The Game from IllFonic, which interestingly enough won't be released in Australia and New Zealand for the stupidest reason. Come October, hack-and-slash RPG Phantom Blade 0 joins the fray -- a long-in-development Chinese game that's getting its own State of Play imminently -- not to mention Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition, packing new single-player content galore alongside the return of the Katana-wielding Atsu. Other news this week includes a surprise PS3-era Lord of the Rings drop, insane data about Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders, and more. But we end, as we always do, with listener inquiries. Will Sony really eschew any sort of external disc drive for PlayStation 6, if only for backwards compatibility purposes? Why is visiting a new town in an RPG typically such an exciting experience? What would a "Digital Bill of Rights" look like? Is Dustin losing his Japanese language skills through atrophy? A new episode of Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast launches each Friday morning. On the topic of Halloween: The Game. I'm in New Zealand and I can still pre order the game on Steam and I can save the game to my wishlist on PlayStation. It may not be banned in New Zealand after all. Probably just banned in Australia.

Im with everyone assuming that we aren’t getting a disc drive option for PS6, but they haven’t said anything to suggest otherwise either. I’m half expecting no, but I just feel like surely it’s an easy way to make some money once more on disc players and wouldn’t really create too much confusion since the console itself is digital only

I like the EWU bodycam channel more than Midwest Safety. But it is a lot darker stuff.

It would honestly be preposterous if they just say "nope, nothing is moving forward you should have bought digital this whole time". I know for me personally if it is the case they do nothing, PS5 is the last Sony console I buy.

Yep, it's digital-only in NZ. Our market is so small that publishers just group us with Australia, meaning an Aus ban usually kills the game here in NZ. IllFonic went out of their way to unlink the storefronts and get it classified in NZ, though physical discs aren't worth it I suppose. Australia’s rules are so Byzantine... I think its if drugs give you a gameplay "buff" it’s an automatic ban. It’s why Fallout had to invent names like Psycho and Buffout. Yet a game like GTA can exist... Yes, stomping on hookers to get your money back.... Fine... Trevor torturing someone.... Sure... Smoking a blunt to get focus.... HELLL NOOOO

Any of the towns in Zelda II. Getting healed behind closed doors, no matter who's giving it to Link, is a much-needed respite from all the XP grinding in the outside world. Shoutout to the towns in Wild Arms as well. Look up "What You're Looking For Is on the Calm Beach" for some of the calmest town music ever put to speakers.

Thought I was listening to Asmongold when they were talking about police videos. Damn near word for word.
