It's me, Colin. Please welcome Insider Gaming Executive Editor to Sacred Symbols+. Over the summer, Mike Tweeted a video that caught my attention, as he spoke directly to the camera about an enthusiast space that doesn't seem to care about what I'd call 'shoe leather journalism," the kind of foundational industry fact-finding and storytelling on which everything else is based. With such journalism being neither lucrative nor in heavy demand from audiences (which is itself perhaps an interconnected problem), what does the future hold for traditional media and those that work in it? Can we make readers, listeners, and viewers care about the degradation of the space, or is the erosion of 'actual journalism' merely a reflection of user taste? Can we enjoy games without truly understanding where they come from, how they're made, and to how they're received? There's much to discuss. Please enjoy.

Thought provoking as always, Colin. Recent Sacred Symbols+ episodes have been gems. Who else in the gaming space is having conversations deep in the minutia as this one? $5 dollars gets you a healthy backlog of engaging episodes. While I may not be playing games this year for personal reasons, considering the pace at which the news does move I'd say the industry has been more fun to observe and discuss than ever. Colin still is, and has always been the cool guy in the space, and everyone else just be hatin'. 😎

Great ep hope you have him back on

Colin, you mentioned in the episode someone that admitted to leaking embargoed information. That was Dan Allen Gaming. It’s why I was so surprised when you went on his show last year. Excellent episode. I enjoyed Mike.

Derek Alcott

You definitely need to have Mike on again. He knows how to have a conversation very well. I enjoyed the talk about ai and data centers.

Davy Sueppel

When Chris departs can you make him the 3rd chair? His voice is amazing and he’s extremely knowledgeable about the industry.

Risen

Dean Takahashi would be another interesting guest, as he spun out as independent last year with GamesBeat.

ZMD

Great episode! This guy is a natural at podcasting, would be happy to have him back for sure.

Colin just cannot help but rehash the past everytime he has a guest on from out of the network of people he usually has on. Mike literally credited you with leaving IGN and starting Kinda Funny for you to immediately say nobody ever credits you for starting the trend of podcast gaming groups. The people you want to give you credit don't. Fuck em. They also act like you dont exist anymore. Youre giving them more credit than they ever gave you.

That game from the studio that's definitely going under, that Mike mentioned, shot in the dark here, but my guess is it's fair games lol

"Can we enjoy games without truly understanding where they come from, how they're made, and to how they're received?" Millions enjoy cheeseburgers every day without giving a flying f* about any of this. Games are no different.

I want more pro ai voices on the channel. Jaffe seems to be the only who gets it.
