With a report from Kotaku stating that Gears E-Day's budget is over $500 million, I have to ask: in a soon-to-be world of $1,000 consoles, how can exclusivity still be on the table for both PlayStation and Xbox? Let's be real, a PS5 release wasn't magically going to make E-Day's budget back. But a PS5 release couldn't have hurt. Just like a PC release for Saros couldn't have hurt. With no end in sight, I see no other option than to embrace cross-gen well into the 2030s. Sony must reconsider its PC strategy. Xbox must reconsider its relationship with Sony. The days of selling hardware at a loss and gating software to entice buyers are over. But maybe I'm wrong? How do you see exclusivity as we know it surviving in a world with $1,000 consoles?

2026-10-25 08:00 Happy Halloween Summoners! Question for Jimmy. Is the steam machine a failure? Between the price, the lack of power, and no big Valve game at launch for the machine. ( Half Life 3) Did Valve make a bad bet? Is it better just to wait for the steam deck 2, then getting a Steam Machine?

Happy Halloween! I was wondering on this spooky day, what 3rd party controller sent shivers down your spine? Mine is the Astro Pad Performance Dreamcast controller. It is large like the Duke controller and the analog stick could twist 360 degrees. Meaning it would slide out from under your thumb constantly. Absolutely horrifying!

I’m giving a huge sort-it-out to activision and call of duty. It’s insane the installation process, and having to create an account to even play. Just install the game, and not the whole damn suite. Video Game companies need to be better.

Good day, Mad Lad Brad! I know this has come up a few times recently but I just wanted to ask if you’d be down for getting guest’s Top 10/Top 20 lists of all time? I don’t know if people want an aggregated LSM list, but I think it would be much more interesting to hear individual favourites as you all have such varied tastes! We all know Jimmy would have The Lord of Ring Gollum at #1 for example.

Gents, I've got a recommendation for a beauty of a game: Carrion. It came out in 2020 and I played it back when it was new - it's a reverse horror game that sees players take control of a giant monster blob thingy to escape a science facility. Short, sweet, fun as hell and great for October gaming. P.s. Back when I played it, I came across a bug, took my problems to reddit and the devs responded to me directly about it. It was fixed up in a patch soon after and they DM'd me a link for a copy of the game's OST. Super cool of them - shoutout Phobia Game Studio

Hello Summonculas, Happy Halloween season I have two Halloween gaming moments and a question. I watched too many scary movies as a child (thanks mom) a child of the 80s, my bday is late October and two gaming series stand out for different reasons; Resident Evil and Until Dawn. Seeing the first Resident Evil on PS1, the intro, the premise, the idea of new experiences on the PS1; it made my favorite game, Super Mario World, look like trash. That face turning, the dog through the window, it was just so cool and scary. What a moment that stays with me concerning games. Also, Resident Evil 4, both versions 10/10s. Until Dawn hits because of the social experience. I remember hanging out at a family Halloween gathering and me putting on the game on PS3; passing the controller, taking turns. We didn’t know what the decisions would lead to and who would die. It was so much fun we played it later on to see the rest of what happens. We peer pressure our younger sister to shoot Emily because she was becoming a zombie. We bring it up till this day. Yeah fun times. Ok question, you're being chased by Nemesis, Pyramid Head, or Mr. X. Who would you rather face and would you survive? “I said Booourns!!!” Stay cool.

Sort it out to the people constantly comparing sales numbers and Steam player counts. The past two months have been insane for releases. “This game didn’t sell x amount of copies. Failure. That game sold less than another game.” It’s like…okay? Why do you care so much? If you can’t get sales data, you jump to Steam players. “These 10 year old games have more players than a newer game” It’s like…yeah, because people already own those games and are jumping back in to check out the new updates. They’ll enjoy the nostalgia for a few hours, then go back to whatever they were playing before. At least, that’s how it is for me. I would personally love to add to the sales of FF, Phantom Blade, Castlevania, Gears, etc. But I don’t have time. I’m still trying to finish Trials and Fire Emblem before Zelda and GTA. People need to look at the current release environment before trying to discredit games with “low” sales.

Devon!

Spooky Bois, DLC seems to be a fun way for devs to lean into different holidays and events. Sleeping Dogs, for instance, has a Nightmare on North Point DLC pack that's full of stabbing demons and sending ghosts back to hell. Super campy and very fun. Red Dead had Undead Nightmare that none of us saw coming but very much the GOAT of DLC. What holiday DLC (Spooky or otherwise) has ever come outta nowhere and really resonated with you? Have a great show! - Devon
