Believe it or not, it's been 12 long years since a new Castlevania game came to market (or 18 years, if you're a purist). Konami's once-prominent action series ultimately split into multiple parts -- Classicvania, Metroidvania, and 3D -- and the quiet from all three branches of the greater whole has been deafening. Cue Belmont's Curse, an all-new Metroidvania-style Castlevania game from French teams Evil Empire and Motion Twin, crafted in beautiful 2.5D and ready to obliterate the silence. Or is it? It turns out that this title is pretty controversial, specifically surrounding the simple question: Is it Castlevania? For the three of us (Colin, Brad, and Simon), it may be missing a few components that keep it from true greatness, but there's no doubt that Belmont's Curse is very much a Castlevania game... just something a little different than what we might have expected. Do we recommend it? We very much do, though there's much to say, as you're about to find out.

Happy to see Simon on Sacred Plus!

I assume the Insomniac interview fell through? I guess they didn't like Colin calling Wolverine's scent trails fart gas. Clever Moriarty!

Stand down Simon. A Boy and His Blob AND the Game Boy sequel, Rescue of Princess Blobette, are two of my favorite games of all time. Sounds like a PERFECT gift to me, Simon.

Colin the intended solution to the super fast traps in the clock tower is you come in from the top, where there is one of those time slow things that you find in the clock tower. Isaac’s power doesn’t work against them

The Incredible Shulk

Digging the game so far…but I’m pretty lost at the moment. I just finished the Clock Tower boss

On the slow mo need Colin mentioned, there’s a one chest that you can use it on to slow dropping block but the actual way to get that was speed running from a time stopping point near the end to the chest via several rooms since the clock affects the entire world and it’s only based on time and it doesn’t cancel out, otherwise.

Colin's sit-down with Iga about the Bloodstained kickstarter was what introduced me to Colin.
