Repeat After Everyone | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 212

There can be no doubt, now, that Sony wants to be a major player in the esports space. This was first evidenced by left-field acquisitions like EVO, moving into branding decisions like INZONE. Now, with the purchase of esports tournament operator Repeat, the writing's obviously on the wall. Can PlayStation discover success in the games-as-a-service and competitive spaces, where they've traditionally found little to write home about (outside of Gran Turismo)? Plus: Spider-Man's PC port gets detailed, mega-toy company Spin Master gets in bed with Sony, Bungie and PlayStation are official, and more news, followed by listener questions galore. What would we want to see in a Bloodborne 2? How, exactly, does the publisher-developer relationship function? Is it time to get video games more heavily integrated into our schools? Will Chris dedicate his entire life to a $20,000 Halo 2-related bounty? Check out our merch! LastStandMedia.store Follow the hosts on Twitter! Congratulations Colin! So happy for you! My wife is even more excited. She’s been wondering when you were going to propose to Micah. So cool man. Married life is awesome.

CAm Moses

Small correction. War Frame was released on Xbox One September 2, 2014.

Congratulations Colin and Micah, this news has made me smile so much today when I heard it. Sending you lots of love from Northern Ireland, may you have a long and happy life together xo

No, it's not a Naughty Dog thing. It is a PlayStation thing. THERE HAS BEEN NO 1ST PARTY EXCLUSIVE RELEASE IN YEARS THAT DID NOT HAVE ANY DRAMA ATTACHED TO IT. From the price, to puddles, women having facial hair, reused animations, LGBTQ topics, not enough Asian DNA in the dev team, or additional 100% optional content being sold with real money. Of course, after the games came out, all the drama turned out to be fabricated.

Alex Eddy

Did you not play Returnal? Demons Souls remake, Ghost if tsushima, Horizon? What drama was there for that?

Nygile Oliver

I’ve definitely noticed an anti-ND/anti-TLOU thing going on since part 2 was leaked. It’s strange, all of a sudden everything they do is seen as bad faith, to the point where people are deciding the remake is a cash grab or a reskin when it isn’t even out to make a definitive statement on. It’s like the gaming community as a whole set their sights onto a game to all release their frustrations on at once, it’s bizarre

Germanos

- '70$ for an roguelike?!' 'this game is nothing more than an arcade shooter claiming to be AAA' - 'full price for an remake' 'they did not even change the animations' - 'lol another copy paste open world formula' 'PlayStation mimicing Assassin's Creed' - 'Aloy is fat and ungly', 'cant believe they are reusing animations from the first one!', 'lol Aloy's got a beard'

CAm Moses

You said it came to Xbox recently around the 2:40:00 . Mark of the YouTube video .

Awesome episode, I wanted to comment after hearing about games being integrated in school and was reminded that my nephews in middle school can now take an e-sports class where they learn about games and the history of them all while playing games such as Overwatch and League of Legends to, I would assume practice for their schools separate e-sports team. I found the course material online and was curious how accurate it would be because it's created in a way where any normal teacher who would know nothing about games, would be able to pick it up and teach the material in their class. To my disappointment, such statements such as calling Grand Theft Auto a first person shooter and having a disc reader be a possible part for a gaming PC build, made me realize that a generation of teachers who widely understands games and the market of games itself might not exist quite yet.

Highlight of the episode for me was Colin's mini rant about the correct usage of "more than" & over" then the very next sentence he proceeds to "hanged up his towel" :P "hung up the towel" I think you mean. Congrats on the engagement!

Colin, It's been reported by PlayStationlifestyle.net has a security breach and that's how we are getting the leaks for TLOU, even GOW Ragnarok and possibly more! Do you think leaks are a good thing or not? How far should leaks go? Cannot wait for the Cowabunga collection as a early 80's kid I was always down for some Turtles!! As always thanks for the awesome content

Greg Dawson

Huge congrats Colin and Micah. Wish you both all the very best for the future.

Zero Motorcycles have a firmware update purchase available to activate the heated hand grips.. and longer range from battery I believe.. thats pretty dirty and before the bmw heated seats thing

If Colin keeps knocking his camera down I'm going to have to start freezing, rewinding and zooming in. There's got to be a cryptic message for the audience somewhere in those scribbled notes.

I think the role of 'gaming' as we know it is only in if infancy when it comes to education. The potential is unprecedented, not only in execution, but in immersion and effectiveness.

Hey Colin you should to get Adam Boyes on your show to have another conversation about curated stores. As I recall he had some great arguments for not curating the store.
