why nobody knows what curry is

What even is a curry? A dish? A spice? A colonial mistake? Or something that’s always been part of who we are? In this video, Melissa unpacks this messy debate, tracing how a single word came to define (and flatten) an entire world of flavours, histories, and identities. Enjoyed the video! Melissa, what kind of recipes would you create to fit Sabrina and Taha's personality?

Hunny_Bunny

I can feel so much passion and reverence in the way Melissa speaks. I would definitely have described myself as not being a curry fan, but after watching it and seeing how diverse and sentimental it can be, I'm definitely willing to give it another try. Thank you for all of the amazing videos, this channel is honestly one of the highest quality channels I've had the pleasure of viewing. Thanks for making videos AIP. How do you go about researching these topics or even coming up with questions to ask? I bought the curiosity journal pdf and I've been struggling trying to find a good question. Thanks AIP.

I loved the personal and emotional touch of this video, what inspired it?

Alexandra

This video was one of the best I've seen from you guys, congratulations for it. I got emotional watching it and was really impressed by everything that went into it, the filmography, the interviews, the music, the animations... This must have been so much work. Do you plan to experiment more with the format of your videos, or do videos in a similar style as the curry one in the future?

Kim Ho

Not as well know, you guys should look at the history behind ketchup. While you know it as the tomato sauce, it didn’t start as such! But I digress. From a personal perspective, I wish I had the energy right now to document my journey the same way you are doing so I can teach my little one. Kudos for that. The fact you are sharing it with the world is double kudos! Question - maybe a question also for you parents/grandparents: Can you share the method which your taught/learned to appreciate home cooking (both eating and the cooking process itself)?

Loved this video a lot! It felt so personal and the highlight was definitely being able to hear how your story and background played into it all!! Also, in the same vein of how many pasta shapes you guys discovered in the pasta video, curious if you have an estimate of how many distinct types of "curry" exist across different cultures or how many you encountered while researching for this video?

Milian Ingco

i loved listening to yall talk about this documentary and its whole process over the past podcasts. Did this video undergo any major or minor changes since it was shown at buffer? is this the right video idk if i'm thinking of the right one

Sabrina and Taha, do you have any foods that are as emotionally charged as curry is for Melissa? Or is food simply fuel?

How do we access old newsletter exclusives? It doesn’t seem the older passwords still work

Ricardo García

As a Mexican, the first time i tried curry it was pretty clear to me what was it. It was Mole. What is mole? Just a super sauce with a lot of spices and just like curry, you can find a huge amount of variaties across Mexico. I loved this video, I think my favorite AIP videos are those about food.
