Get 10% your next Hostinger website using code ANSWER: https://hostinger.com/answerinprogress You probably forget if "embarrassing" has one R or two, and have come to rely on autocorrect and spellcheck a little too much over the years. Why is spelling such a struggle and what sets Scripps National Spelling Bee winners apart from us typo-laden normies? In this video, Sabrina jumps into the history and linguistics that makes the English language so hard to spell, trains for a spelling bee, and challenges the smartest people she knows to a spell off! What's your fave new word then?

Gang. WHAT. This is... a masterpiece. Seriously, this represents (one p, one s) everything that's great about the AIP genre. The writing, cinematography and cameos are all clicking masterfully in this one, and the editing and pacing are off the friggin charts. There are too many amazing sequences to mention. (But that 15-person spelling bee did have me grinning like an idiot.) Sabrina - what's your process for conceiving of an animated sequence like "why English is so hard to spell"? I think your animations of abstract concepts are some of the best in the business, and I'm really curious about how you come up with fun illustrations and transitions without the imagery ultimately detracting or distracting from the message.

Would you say the memory video where you memorized pi would be of help remembering how to spell certain words? Also, when are we gonna get an accent video given your attempts at various accents in the video?

G.C. Day 🍩

I'm a writer and I don't think I can spell 1/5 of the words in my vocabulary.

What makes spelling in English harder than any other language? (From a person who can barely spell in one language) Is there a language that could be argued that is the easiest to spell words in?

Elin

You've talked about experimenting with thumbnails and titles for videos, are you also doing that with upload schedule? Like "more people are likely to watch on weekends", or is it just as soon as it's done? I know some people on YouTube keep a schedule down to the hour, so I'm curious as to how it impacts the views (if that's something you've tried to optimise).

Great video! Really well thought out and relatable. I have a few questions! - How long did it take you to record before you got footage of your cat playing with the projector screen? - Before you went off to make a site that is a spelling bee, did you consider that American english spelling would have been something you would have to memorize in order to be in these spelling bees? (ex. colour is color in american). - It would be interesting to hear if there was any research done on how spelling could be a hard thing for people who are ESL (english second language.) Also wondering if you had anyone during your spelling bee who was ESL.

Great Video. My question is: What bug was the funniest or most annoying to solve?

No questions, just wanted to say I was thrilled when you mentioned Justin Rudd—he’s a great guy who puts on a lot of community events here in Long Beach. Our dog beach (the only off-leash one in LA) is even named after his former bulldog, Rosie!

I don't think I've played enough of the game but does it take into account different ways of spelling (i.e. British/American/Canadian???????) or is there a standardised/standardized way of spelling? (Like as if spelling in English isn't already hard enough, as a person who lives in Singapore and learnt British English but is heavily influenced by American media, trying to remember which word is which version of English is also terrible oTL)

Allie Hughes

great video, great game! How many people have played and are still playing the spelling game? And how excited were you all to get people from Vox to be in your video? I think I remember you guys fangirling over Joss Fong before

Heya folks! I've been having some bugs happen with solo game mode on Firefox for Mobile. Sometimes the audio clips stutter and then fail to load the full audio, resulting in clues such as "Cladistitics a noun meaning aaaaaaaaaa"

George WL

It's based on American English sadly, hopefully they add the option to switch to British English at some point

Funny thing is there's a TV show in New Zealand that airs every week called "Guymonts Guy Mont Spelling Bee" and it's a comedic take on the idea of a Spelling Bee.

I love the whole "Sabrina tries to fix a problem with a website except she doesn't" series, great video. Now question: for those of you that speak a language other than english (or know some words), what's your non-english favourite word. I love "Gallardo" in spanish.
