Exit Stage Left was the second Rush album I ever owned, and I absolutely wore this album out. It contains a nice variety of the Rush catalog up to Moving Pictures, and the recording and performances are fantastic. It also contains the best recorded drum solo from Neil, IHO. Thanks for including this in our membership, NicknLex.The video, by the way, features a few songs not included on the album and vice versa.

For those who haven't heard the album version, it contains the following additional tracks not included in this video: Broon's Bane, La Villa Strangiato, Beneath Between and Behind, Spirit of Radio, A Passage to Bangkok, YYZ (full version with extended drum solo), and Jacob's Ladder.

The video version contains By Tor and the Snow Dog as well as Limelight, neither of which are on the album.

No way! You made my week, you crazy kids!

come together

There's a video on YouTube of a very young Alex (high school age) discussing with his parents and other family members about his decision to make making music his career of choice. It's pretty cool. Great choice to post this for your anniversary, as Rush is such an integral part of your channel.

Mark Alexander

Ah, it’s a good day for so many reasons. Thank you both! Hope to see you tonight.🎸🔥

Franck Thibault

What a great idea! 😉 I love your tastes in music! 😎

MrMojoRisin

FINALLY! You made it to the Xanadu live via Exit...Stage Left! in it's entirety! Congratulations on your one year anniversary and hope to be here to see what's up for the 2nd year! Peace and love to you both! Hopefully I'll be up for the live stream tonight. BLAH BLAH BLAH 🤣

Franck Thibault

So, this isn't the same Set list as the CD, the order is completely different, songs missing & songs added, but it was still good, even my my favorite song of theirs was not played: La Villa Strangiato. A part of it was played: Nick you thought it was YYZ, but it was LVS...

NicknLex

We know frank that was such a bummer. It starts and then cuts away. Maybe the uploader wanted to make it shorter?

Franck Thibault

I don't know: he added all the commentaries and songs like By-Tor that are not on the list... Check your email.

Michele

Wow! Great choice for Patreon to celebrate 1 year of fun! The Output is STRONG with this channel!! Haha, but really! Thanks and hugs ✨🤪

I have to tell you, I was 12 when this was recorded. I am also ashamed to say, I wasn't a fan then. My cousin was obsessed with Rush and tried to get me interested, but I wasn't ready. I have since learned the error of my ways. Lol! I thank you both for posting this. It is inspiring to see the joy and amazement in your faces. If you watch another, I would suggest The Time Machine Tour. It is toward the end of their career but I think it is their most polished performance. You guys are great!

Mickey D

Congrats on your 1 year channel anniversary! Shame about Red Barcheta, but you said you're going to buy the concert on some format and I'm sure you will really enjoy it. Thrilled you guys like Rush so much. And as you noted, there's still a lot more for you to dig into! Enjoying the channel very much!

Is there a better way to spend a quarantine afternoon with friends watching a Rush concert ... well, maybe a beer, but sick people don't drink alcohol and I usually only do when it's dark outside :-) This is gonna be a long one, but you prog lovers are used to long stuff (music). First of all : what do the concert movie and the original Exit ... stage left LP/CD have in common ? The title and some songs ... other than that, there a some differences. First of all the missing titles such as Spirit of radio, Red Barchetta and La villa strangiato; second this was filmed at one concerts, the songs for the album were recorded in Canada and England, it doesn't name the cities. I like the crowd, I always like, when in concert recordings, album or film, you can hear how loud the crowd was. This one was already pretty good, but nothing compared to Rush in Rio. Nick, you mentioned it, but have you seen the Rush in Rio DVD ? The Brazilians go crazy and I've never seen anything like the crowd dance and sing (!) to YYZ. Unbelievable ! The first time I had to smile, when Alexia talked about the Jeans. Sorry, but typical female observation :-) Yes, I noticed, they were wearing nice clothes, that's it. I also liked your singing to Tom Sawyer, looked great and correct, what would it sound like, if you do it Karaoke ? I think, nobody should try to sing Rush, that's the only terrible memory of my Rush concert ... all these poor tries to copy Geddy ... I rather did shut up :-) Nick noticed, that DT borrowed the cowbell part for Trial of Tears of Falling into Infinity ... but there is even a better cowbell part in another DT song. Have you ever seen - it's my favourite DT live song and I saw it play them live in Düsseldorf 2002 - Beyond this life of the Budokan DVD ? For me it has the best JP guitar solo ever - from my watchers view - and a great battle between Jordan and Mike playing many cowbell hits. I dream of seeing this special song one day on the channel. That's also the spot, where I have to say, I like when bands "improvise", this kind of is great. But I agree with you on LZ, when The song remains the same came out, I was kind of disappointed. The sound was not so great and especially Jimmy Page playing wrong notes in Moby Dick and Whole lotta love turned me off. Seeing the DVD later brought some fun back. Concerning Exit ... stage left I'd like to mention some of the liner notes: they wrote Max Webster R.I.P., that was because in this year Max Webster resigned ... for almost 9 years, then they came back. The last one made me laugh so hard and I'm sorry, that probably only the german speaking readers will understand completely, to the others it looks like Kisuaheli :-) Rush thanks the members and crew of "FM" for their important comedic and musical support - Öfshnatzen d'Rötz ! LOOOL ! find someone to translate :-)

Great reaction video Nick and Lex. Thank you so much for doing this x Love from England.

Hi Guys, I just joined your Patreon channel. Love the reaction to my all time favorite "live" album from Rush. I was 14 when I first heard the album and was just blown away because it was nothing I ever experienced. I can tell you both are total fans(even without wearing the Rush shirts), and it was awesome experiencing this over again with you both. Thanks for a great "show". :D

Rudi Becker

Oops, forgot to post the setlist of my Rush concert: check it and get envious :-)

Mark Alexander

Good to see how this video reaction got you so many more members! You mentioned Yessongs the movie. Sadly, it's missing some important songs on the triple album. It's over 2 hours of music, while the movie is about 1hr 15, as I recall...

Kevin Michaud

My favorite from this list it La Villa Strangiato....so good. If you haven't seen it, you must. Either the Exit Stage Left version or the Pink Pop Festival version.

additional info: On 24 September 2004 Canadian rock trio Rush recorded their R30: 30th Anniversary World Tour DVD at this venue. That's were I saw them

Just enjoyed your reaction to Exit Stage Left (which, yes, sadly had Red Barchetta hacked out, oh well). Wanted to share a note in response to your observations about Zeppelin live... I remember hearing or reading an interview with Alex Lifeson about him attending a Zeppelin concert and being disappointed that Jimmy Page didn't play the album solos note for note. And so he resolved that if he ever made it up there, he'd play his recorded solos faithfully. And, voila! One more fun fact: In the first few decades of their career, they released a live album after every four studio recordings, so this was their second live album (the video you saw accompanied a double album of the same name, but with more songs). Their first was All the World's a Stage, which is on their 2112 tour (four studio records in), and this one was on their Moving Pictures tour, eight records in. That last medley was bits of earlier material, which was always so fun to hear live. Ah, Rush, RIP. It does the heart good to see you discovering and falling in love with them like we all did back in the day. Thank you!

JRCortez

Great reaction, unfortunately, this video leaves out quite a bit from the double CD concert, like Broon's Bane, Passage to Bangkok (a favorite of mine), and Red Barchetta (unforgivable!). Still good to hear/see these songs again.....

Jonathan

Says video isn’t available. 🤷🏻‍♂️

NicknLex

Oh no! I sent you a message, hope that does it!

Fred Glassman

Been subsribed on your You Tube channel since the beginning, but had to join your Patreon when I saw the trailer for this. Love your Rush reactions!!

Thomas Wiethoff

Hi kids! First time caller here, and a mighty fresh patron. Love your Rush and Genesis reactions. I skipped school in May of ‘77 when i was 16yo to see my first Rush concert. Spent the whole day at the arena in Port Huron, MI, snuck in a back stage door to watch the soundcheck. Xanadu was performed for the 2nd or 3rd time ever, before FTK came out. Got to see them writing Closer To The Heart as they jammed in that soundcheck, and later got handshakes from all three after the show as they came out the back door after the show. Was everything a teenage wannabe drummer could dream of! The first of many Rush shows. I highly recommend Dinner With Rush clip, aee what an amazing friendship those three guys shared. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OjbvZJaxcbw

NicknLex

Aww we appreciate the support!! Glad to have you both on YouTube and here! :) - Lex

NicknLex

Aww how sweet of you! Thanks for sharing this with us! :) - Lex

Great reaction and love the channel! Is it possible to increase the video quality (360p) of your reaction to 1080, like your videos on Youtube?

David Holloway

Apologies if this makes you envious but I saw them at Wembley Arena, London on this tour so this concert is familiar to me. Great to relive it with you guys though. I think this is the original VHS release, hence the heavy editing. The later DVD/Blueray release captures nearly all, if not all of gig.

Normand Aubry

This brings back memory. I was there when they filmed this at the Montreal. I hadn’t seen it in a while, but i noticed that they caught my face while filming a crowd close up. I was 18 at the time. I was lucky to see the, at their best. I saw the Permanent Wave, Moving picture, Signals, Grace Under Pressure and a few few tours after, but lost a bit interest afterwards

Luke D

Belated Happy 1 Year anniversary. This was great too. One of my all-time fav bands.

David Edinborough

Grace Under Pressure live is the logical next step! Appreciate you guys!
