We were excited to finally be able to react to The Doors. This was super interesting.

Hope you enjoy!

Lots of love,

I see. I am fixing it right now 😅

come together

My favorite from the Doors is probably "The End" or "Peace Frog." "The End" is very, very dark but terribly intriguing. This is very good as well.

NicknLex

Omg we were going to do Peace Frog because we just had seen licorice pizza and a couple of seconds of that song were in the movie. Maybe next time

come together

I haven't seen the movie yet, is it any good? The soundtrack looks pretty good, just for Peace Frog and Life on Mars? alone.

Great Scott

you are aware that "Mr Mojo Risin" is an anagram for "Jim Morrison", aren't you?

NicknLex

No we didn't but now it makes sense. He got the. Album LA Woman! He is also a huge Rush fan!!

Michael Malone

Thanks Nick and Lex! great reaction as always 👍 great to see you back in full health🙏🤗

Richard

Do more Doors. Nick, if you love bass riffs as you say, try The Doors "Peace Frog".

NicknLex

We were actually going to do Peace Frog. Then we choose this one since it's the album opener. We will definitely do more. I hope it doesn't get blocked if we upload on YouTube

My first Doors albums that I bought and this track is still my favorite Doors song. Glad to see you reacting to great music that we don’t necessarily hear every day.

One more thing: ironic that you and the others are focusing on the bass line (indeed a great part of the tune!) since the Doors never had a full-time bass player. (Ahead of your time, White Stripes!!)

Thomas Zanot

Enjoyed Blasting this song in my house this morning, thank you.

Michele

Yes. Thanks, Great Scott. Morrison even repeats the name (Mr Mojo Risin) in “L.A. Woman.” His band mates didn’t realize until he showed them. Lol. ✨🤪

THE DOORS ARE ONE OF THE BEST,MOST AHEAD OF THEIR TIME GROUPS EVER..MORRISON WAS THE PERFECT VOCALIST AND KRIEGER,DENSMORE AND MANZANAREK COULD PLAY ANYTHING..ROCK,JAZZ,BLUES..LISTEN TO THEIR LIVE AT THE ISLE OF WIGHT,,,WOW! MUCH LOVE TO YOU BOTH...KENT.

Michele

Can I just say - the output from this channel lately is incredible! Thanks guys! ✨🤪

Michele

Loved it. Uptown, Downtown. And a few years later, the Talking Heads would sing, “Lived in a brownstone, lived in a ghetto. I’ve lived all over this town” (Life During Wartime). ✨🤪

Wow guys another rabbit hole to go down! From LA Woman, the title track is pretty epic. I didn't realize until recently that Elvis bass player Jerry Scheff is on this album. I really like The WASP too. After Jim died I'm a little surprised the surviving members didn't do much else musically. Well, not that I'm aware of anyway. An odd fact, Jim's dad was commander of United States naval forces during the Gulf of Tonkin Incident of August 1964, which sparked an escalation of American involvement in the Vietnam War. How weird is that? Not sure how much you guys have explored the Doors but there's a lot of great songs to check out!

I have a strange relationship with The Doors. I get how influential and revolutionary a lot of their music was, but can't really get into them. Still, 'L.A. Woman' is the album I enjoy the most.

Strange first Doors song

Rob Gray

Love the song "Hyacinth House" from this album.

Jeffrey Sparks

Not strange at all. The album is gold from beginning to end.

MrMojoRisin

Just can't get enough of The Doors! I have so many favs from this band and this album but my all-time favorite is The W.A.S.P. (Texas Radio and the Big Beat). You're so very welcome for the LP too!

ProgRockFan

As far as I know, The Cristal Ship and You're Lost Little Girl are the only two Doors songs that I like.

Andrew A

I was a HUGE Doors fan back in the day. I wore the grooves out of all my albums, but especially Morrison Hotel, The Soft Parade, LA Woman and Absolutely Live. Ray Manzarek’s playing blew my mind. You could react to anything from Morrison Hotel and I’d be happy.

Rudi Becker

Riders on the storm was my first Doors song and my favourite up to now, followed by L.A. Woman. Never became a Doors fan, as young teen I didn't understand the meaning of Light my fire :-) and The End was and is too dark for me. The "melody" that you hear, reminds me a bit of In-a-gadda-da vida ... maybe ....

steve nesfield

Great programme similar too the Dan AJA one on the making off LA Woman love to watch it with you guys on Patreon maybe

The Doors instrumentation was/ is very underrated!!

What a great band on par with Steely Dan for releasing a string of stunningly good albums. This particular album was one I instantly loved in a huge way. It was the last Doors production and is an ideal bookend to their absolutely brilliant debut album. The rock solid bass playing is courtesy of Jerry Scheff who normally was in the Elvis Presley Band.

Jack Engard

Jim Morrison was so stoked with the prospect of Jerry sitting in with the Doors that he actually got sober. That's why this final album was so uniformly profoundly good with a great variety of sounds and moods. When Morrison was loaded the other members called him "Jimbo". As the years went by his alcoholism grew worse and three months after L.A.Woman came out the world lost a great artist named MR. Mojo Rising. His IQ was very close to genius but it didn't save him from self destructing. Like with Jimi and so many others, it was just sad that despite possessing such great gifts it offered no protection and they had to leave.
