I'm so excited! I've been on a real journey recently with Jimi ! I've been listening to Electric Ladyland, and it's seriously mind altering. My love of music I felt deepen as I was listening. Can't wait to jam out with y'all! Cheers ! Woof ! (Marley!)

Loved this reaction, guys, and I'm totally on board with any Jimi album you'd like to do! His sound and techniques were revolutionary; his music was so, so psychedelic but had great beauty and depth. And of course, since he died at 27 after really just a 4 year career as a leader, what he might have done is one of the great heartbreaking what-ifs in music history. He could have been central to the jazz/rock fusion of the 70s, and who knows what else beyond that?

So glad I grabbed my headphones for this because that was a trip. 😵‍💫 A full album listen would be very fun.

There are some other good songs on this album, but if I were to recommend just one album it would be Electric Ladyland, which was my favourite for about 10 years. Remember, this was before Zeppelin, and around the same time as Cream. As far as fast playing goes, some of his live recordings show that. One of his most influential songs is "Machine Gun" from the live Band Of Gypsys album.(It's on Vimeo in black and white). His time in the spotlight coincided with advances in guitar effects (some custom made for him), and studio effects and experimentation. Some of his rhythm playing is linked to the style of Curtis Mayfield, and the intro to Little Wing is a good example of that. Tuck and Patti do a cover of this song.

I found it funny that you would consider doing a poll to do a Jimi Hendrix album. Just do it! Great music needs no reasons.

I always confuse Jimi Hendrix & Lenny Kravitz when someone talks about one or the other 🙄 This is perfect for my music knowledge & was very good!

Brian McCall

Awesome, thanks you two. And it was "White Room" by Cream, I believe, that Lex was singing and thinking it was "Castles Made of Sand". I love the playful, creative lyrical turns on this one. Also, yeah, the backwards guitar and phasing add so much to the whole effect. This was leading up to the phenomenal peak of his work, imo, "Electric Ladyland".

Any Jimi reaction is most welcome! Thank you! If you like to react to some Jimi video, I recommend "Johnny B. Goode" (Jimi Plays Berkeley) and "Machine Gun" (Band of Gypsys @ Vimeo).

Jimi Hendrix and a surprise melodic guest appearance from the great Cream. Glad to hear your reaction on Patreon. Very Special.

This won't launch into Vimeo for me, it does, but it won't show up there

Hi Guys, so good to hear Jimi Hendrix. Considering how young he was when he died, he has so much recorded for us to enjoy, especially live. It's funny the song Lex thought it might be was White Room by Cream, because at a Hendrix concert Eric Clapton was stood watching Hendrix for the first time and said he may as well give up playing the guitar now, after hearing how incredible Jimi was. Lol. I love the backwards guitar which The Beatles did on "I'm Only Sleeping", & "Tomorrow Never Knows". Marc Bolan & T.Rex also did it on the end of "Cosmic Dancer" from the amazing album "Electric Warrior" [ My 2nd ever vinyl album in my collection I got for Christmas, ...I asked Santa for it, aged just 15 ..... I asked my parents really, Lol ] Byeee Jim X

Next ? ... From the "Electric Ladyland" album .. a 13+ minute trip you wont believe > " A Merman I Should Turn To Be" is among the biggest trip without drugs you are likely to hear. It's stunning ! Jim X

Great deep cut reaction. So many more good songs in store for you to explore from James Marshal Hendrix. I got all three of the Experience albums when I was 16 so they are all ingrained in my musical brain. But watching you hear Castles for the first time was priceless. You need to react to an entire album, for sure! 🧜‍♂️

What I love most about this song is that it all fits together so well but there are parts which sound like they don't belong. Your reaction was awesome and I'm happy you're starting to explore this man who was way ahead of his time. Two suggestions: Manic Depression and Are You Experienced. You'll love those tracks!
